Whilst the main debate is polarized around coach and players I believe that there's another dynamic which has occurred almost unnoticed to bring in a new Era.
My take is that Cappy is toast, by most measures and under the normal course of events a similar pattern will evolve driven by some players, with the coach sacked and the cycle continues.. However this time the CEO Doyle with the support of the Directors/Owner has taken control.. Cappy may survive but the players who for so long have been frustrating the progress of potentially the best sporting franchise in NZ are going to be purged.. I believe we've seen a revolt crushed and a new dawn beckons. The coach and players are now just that... Doyle is in charge and by all accounts we're in good hands!
Great post and welcome to the boards "Cappy".

I hope this team wins tomorrow and is selected next week and wins again against the Panthers and then against the Raiders, then maybe the club will move on from some of these long term players
I hope so to as I put all my bookie money on them....lol

Changing the forward pack isn't as difficult as changing the back line. So it might not be the disruption of the year.

Maybe it's just me but this makes no sense at all...

Some of these players have families and kids....and they are going out to pubs in the viaduct until 3am in the morning to drink energy drinks??

Times have changed!
My thoughts entirely. 3am is bad enough for a professional sportsman, but for players with kids and a family at home?

Call me a glass half full, but if the Warriors beat three "middle of the pack" teams, the Dragons, Panthers, and Raiders, they're back into the thick of the race. Very doable, especially if we can get some motivated players on the field.

Come on, Warriors. Last gasp.
I like the way you think.......Warriors for life

nothing good happens after midnight the old saying goes
I often wonder whether the players up late at night is a by product of playing so many games at night in Aussie. It's bad enough staying up late at night to watch the games, but playing must take a while to wind down after it finishes. It must at some point muck up your body clock when they return back to NZ.

Either way it's no excuse for missing a team debrief!!

So round 9 coming right up: What was our winning record during rounds 9 to 16?

69% over the last 4 years of missing the finals I think.

If we go on a run of wins do these guys ever make it back into the team?

Just a few thoughts after reading the posts over the last couple of days

I don't care where our players come from. I don't care that they're not happy. They are professionals who are paid to play. They are also contractors and in the real world if a contractor doesn't perform he gets dumped. Doesn't matter what profession they're in or what racial background they're from. So basically they need to perform or get moved on

It is far better to get yelled at in a group than not to be spoken to and to get sacked. Get over it or move on

The 6 players that are in trouble are obviously morons. After Mondays game heads were always going to roll and these guys have pretty much jumped up and down in front of Cappy calling out " pick me pick me". But I would much rather have seen players dropped for shit performances on field rather than for being dickheads

I've watched on here as some really serious fans have given up in disgust. And I don't blame any of them. In fact I feel the same way and I am sorry that they have gone. The message board will miss their insights and humour. But the Warriors are my team. And with the benefit of a couple of days space to cool off I reckon they will always be my team. Over 20 years I have seen hundreds of players come and go and the current crop will too. They may be legends in their own minds but they are temporary legends. The club will still be there when they're gone ( and may be a better place too). I'll give Doyle and Cappy another season or two to get the club firing properly.
I've waited 20 years for the Warriors to really come right. I can wait a bit more. Imagine walking away just before they come right. What a waste of 20 years.
But I do need to see some hardline change where the players are concerned. I can live with top players getting censured and even dumped and another rebuild.
But PLEASE do something
Your last bit is why I stick around. Jump of the ship now and they'll come good LOL.

On some of your other points about players coming and going and the current guys attitudes. My take. I'm a Warriors supporter not a support of specific players. The players are expendable it just a matter of can we offload them without having to pick up part of their salary or is it a case of the issues with some of them are too big that we do whatever it takes to unload them.

I have confidence in Doyle. McFadden is showing signs of being a rookie coach but there is only so much a coach can do. Some of these guys played in a Grand Final, did that loss actually hurt them and do they want to ever reach that point again? It sure as hell doesn't seem like it.

NO

just proves they were not needed. Like having aRolls Royce and a Ford both do the same job just one costs hell of a lot less ;)

I reckon No, personally Id be happy now to move Manu, Ben and Konnie on elsewhere and possibly Lisone too. Too much disrespect shown for our club , their own teammates and most of all us fans.

Thompson and Vete Id give the option to move on too if they choose not to give 100%, but get that chance.

I support the Warriors club not the players.

We just want a professional team, full of players who are hungry to win us a grand final, not a group of social media tweeting snapchatting idiots who think they can just do what they like and not give a shit about how it affects the club or fans.

Im looking forward to this weeks game now, win or lose, it will just be a nice change to watch some guys playing like they want to be in this team.

Good on you Cappy and JD for bumping these guys, if no other club wants them they can go and get a job at a sports store or supermarket for all I care.

Asked how much longer the Warriors persisted with Hurrell, McFadden was unsure.

"Certainly after this week it is difficult to answer," he said. "I'll be meeting up with Konrad and his manager during the week and we'll have to discuss that because he has a track record and I don't understand it.

"I can't control players and the stupid things they do and that [retweet] is just another one. Again, we'll discuss that during the week. I have a game to prepare for so I need to put the attention on the players that do want to be here."
