Mr Brownstone

In amongst all the redemption/naughty 6 talk I'm not sure if it's been mentioned already; however if we were officiated by Gavin Badger every round then I'm sure that life as a Warriors fan would be that much easier. Only bloke who I feel generally calls a Warriors game without bias. The piggy back that opposition teams get from relieving penalties every other week should not be underestimated.

Have to say this is the biggest thing i have noticed from the warriors, how many tries would they have got if someone was on their hip when they broke the line instead of being ten meters back, they need to run in pairs. Don,t no what to do with Wright he works hard but just has no speed or punch to carry the ball but is solid what about swapping him and Kata
Anyone know the real story? Either JD and Cappy are using this to draw a "line in the sand" or the night shift 6 were a lot worse than has been reported. Surely Cappy spoke to the players about what happened. If Cappy and JD have talked about changing the culture of the Warriors for a long time, surely this type of behaviour is not isolated.
Noo but Cappy said on the radio there were other internal incidents that not many people were aware about, but when pushed for further info he refused to go further into it.

Steve Kearney was in the decision to ban the players from the test. Radio Sport

"Doesn't fit with Kiwi's protocol either"

Johnson charged with trip on Mitch Rein, but no mention of Gallen for the forearm on the Brisbane prop LOL. Fkn Aussies. It was interesting watching the commentary team saying Gallen would justify it by saying he was dropping his arm for when he hit the ground. Shame the props cheekbone was in the way really !!

5 of the 6 admitted to mixing prescription drugs with energy drinks.

Bloody hell. They won't be back for a while if that is the case, and Konnies goneskis.

Like most others all I wanted to see were players who showed some heart and pride in the jersey on Sunday. The replacements showed that with the rest of the team and as a fan that is all I ask for plus a grand final win of course. The next team selection will be very interesting.

Lane was nervous as, but he can move bodies on D.
Cant wait to see him come back in when he gets his confidence together.
Want to see that attacking monster who debuted and made a name for himself.
Tevaga should stay, would love to see Palavi hold a spot to, but there is to much in front of him.

All this makes the selection for the Panthers game definitely more interesting - and who may not even be at the club.

From Cappys interview yesterday I can only assume if the players are sorry and ready to follow club principles then they are all available next round.
Konrad is obviously in his own category!
Lane and Sipley aren't yet ready for FG. They will be, but can't put in the minutes yet.
Lousie never will be.
Tevaga as starting hooker, Luke stays on after 20, Tevaga rotates at the back with Hoff and Simon, all doing 60.
Fusitua was outstanding and IMO has grabbed the 1 jersey from Tui.
You couldn't drop Bull, Gavet or Gubb after yesterdays performance.
So...assuming all are available.
Fusitua
Tui - Wright didn't do enough and Fusitua has the fullback spot
Ayshford
Kata
Vatuvei - Dragons were shit, we will need go forward against Penrith.
Tommy - Robbo went well, unlucky.
Shaun Johnson
Simon
Hoff
Brodene
Gavet
Tevaga
Lillyman

Gubb
Luke
Mutalino - Still our best prop
Palavi - Late half energy and impact

I went to the game and watched NSW Cup match also.

Player by player, some thoughts..

Fusitua - Looked pretty good at fullback when carrying ball back, thought he needed to get more involved on attack as Shaun Johnson was really struggling to find anyone with any sort of impetus on attack.
Wright - Unable to convert a couple of what looked like certain tries. Tried to get involved a lot, and other than that awful drop coming out of our end was relatively solid.
Ayshford - Didn't do a huge amount wrong from where I was sitting, nothing spectacular either.
Kata - Seems to be reverting to bad habits. Charged out of the line without reason to try smash Dugan and if the Dragons hadn't been so inept they might've taken advantage.
Allwood - Took his chance well, and a few handy runs off the wing. No worse than any of the other wingers we've fielded in recent times.
Robson - Easily his best game in Warriors colours. Made a few great tackles and allowed Shaun Johnson to roam, a few very good kicks to get repeat sets.
Shaun Johnson - Better than he was against the Storm, took the line on for a try. He looked a little frustrated at times as his backrowers just weren't going anywhere on attack. He mixed up first and second receiver which worked well I thought.
Lillyman - Other than his early (unforgivable) errors, really strong game, seemed to always have his hand up for a carry.
Tevaga - Played 80 minutes, 20 as hooker then 60 as a backrower. Defended strongly and made a few good runs given his lack of size.
Gavet - Strong carries and was usually able to bend the line.
Lane - Thought he was really really average. Got hooked after 20 thankfully, because he's all arms in defence and put us under pressure with a dropped carry. No combination with Shaun Johnson whatsoever.
Hoffman - He runs hard but that side of the field never ever looks like it's going anywhere.
Palavi - Is the absolute definition of a journeyman. Looks so laborious when he's running, and is another in the 'can't break a tackle to save my life' brigade.

Luke - Watching him live gave me a sense of just how unfit this guy is. Was gassed early in the 2nd half despite coming on after 20 mins. At one point he was just standing in the Dragons defensive line as we made our first 3 hitups because he simply couldn't get back to our side. His runs were okay and set up a nice try but he has a looooong way to go fitness wise.
Gubb - Another spirited performance but man he HAS to start going higher with some of his tackles. Grass cutting people in league only serves to let them get up really quickly and play the ball which puts our entire defensive line under pressure.
Sipley - Big run and looked like he could be useful in first grade. His issue might be fitness and agility.
Lousi - Looked pretty devastated re his injury when he came off, but really...biding time with him surely, offers nothing on attack or defence and must be moved on.

Make no mistake, that was an incredibly low quality game of league. It wasn't a whole lot better than the NSW cup game earlier. As good as it was getting the win, there's no way we can just name that same side against the Panthers, they looked like they just had no options on attack at times. Watching Shaun Johnson try get guys like Hoffman, Palavi, Wright, Ayshford etc to try break or even bend the line was frustrating. The side NEEDS guys like Matulino and Bodene back to provide some sort of option. At one stage there was an edge of Robson Palavi Ayshford Wright...and the Drags were not even bothered one bit. Truly NSW cup standard. If this side travels to take on the Panthers it will get soundly beaten, and the honeymoon re 'guys that want to play for the club' will come to an abrupt end.

that edge isnt going to change.. unless Loloheia is back

I dont see why Palavi gets shit, he had a good game, to get dropped for these other guys seems like a slap in the face.

Wright vs Vatuvei.. Wright may be a bit slow but he turns up on defence.

Matulino in for Lousi and that would be about it for me.. Mannering for Gubb.. Im struggling with that one, Gubb is a ball of energy. Mannering or Hoffman less minutes maybe

Yeah I have no issue with Wright staying in over Manu. Manu is well and truly past his use-by date, his contract length is embarrassing to be frank.

Palavi looked so pedestrian, especially as an edge backrower. He either comes in as a direct replacement for Simon or not at all, he had no impact whatsoever. He had so much hype as a junior it sometimes feels like people are searching for something about his game to be positive about. He had an okay game sure, but how many of the other 15 clubs are currently vying for his services....in a competition riddled with journeymen backrowers? That's all he is, and players like him are dime a dozen. No offence to him but he's not the future of the club.

You may be right but the Warriors have a history of not fostering talent and sometimes all a guy needs is a chance, like some of these other guys floating around the NRL right now. They got 1 or 2 games at the Warriors, moved on and are now stars. I'd like to see Sipley get a longer run. If Mannering comes in he replaces Gubb in the middle anyway. So it would be Thompson for Palavi.. Thompsons defence hasnt been great this year.
