Wow what will our go forward be like with forwards on the bench and forwards on the wings! What are the odds a back gets injured and We Struggle with cover

Sounds a bit contradictory that Lolo is being dropped to play his natural position at 6. Well, if it was his "natural" position, Cappy, why not let him play 6 and put Lulu on the bench to cover for Luke to see how Lolo goes. Not like TL has been tearing it up at 6 this year, and he's playing out of position too. Why not give it a go when they weren't doing well prior to Round 11?

And speaking of contradictions, Lolo is being sent DOWN to the B team for his confidence building? Hate to see what Cappy would do if he punished someone.

Solid team with a decent bench, glad for Gavet to get another run he's been good in the back half of the season.

His confidence was shot at fullback last week, it's the right call putting Tui into the cup side to play 6 in fact I'd leave him there barring injury to play out the rest of the season in that position and give him a chance to compete with Hingano for the five eight role early ... provided we don't end up signing Foz.

Just an aside, Matt Scott pulled out of the Roosters game with that Back/Hip injury last week (as he did the week before) I'm not so sure Paul Green will risk him this week, it'd be a real shot in the arm for out pack if he decided to rest him.

So we went a long stretch of consistent selections now we're back to rearranging the deck chairs. o_O

Tui has lost confidence so he's been dropped, fair enough.

How the fark did Maumalo retain his place? He was worse then Tui on the weekend!

Cowboys 16+

How are the players notified if they've been selected? Is there a sheet outside the coach's office that they all gather around at 5pm Tuesday's? Or a more modern way? it would've been a tad awkward today...
Individual player meetings...

Signed a 2 year extension only a couple of months ago so he has to presevere with him to save face but i can imagine if he plays like last week will be last time we see him this season.

I'm happy enough with that team, Tui had to go, if he's a six let him learn how to be a six, but knowing McFadden's thinking he'll ask Stacey to try him at hooker to improve his passing and kicking game. This team does make me wonder what was the point of the Ayshford to the bench experiment though. He's had his game time slashed and when he did come on he's replaced a prop, now he's a centre again.

He should be down in NSW cup learning how to be a backrower. Never know, him and Tui could strike up a nice combination while learning their trade.

I agree however his footwork and defence worry me that being a backrower will still be caught out. NSW is good for game time but maumalo seems to sit inbetween too good for NSW but far to poor for NRL

Because our forwards pack about as much punch as an asthmatic ant carrying heavy luggage.

Be interesting to see if Thurston exsposes our props on the wing to the extent Reynolds did, and if we've come up with a strategy in a week to counter this when it inevitably happens.

So far our strategy is to strengthen the position with a stronger player, I can't disagree with that.

Without a doubt JT will have seen that and will look to replicate it and if they sit back then they will run it and expose their lack of speed that way I invision a long day for the wingers

This'll be a good test for Tui and maybe a bit of a pressure release for him.
Big fan of the kid but he deserved to be dropped unfortunately.
The test will be how he reacts to the demotion..I'm hoping with head up and determination to show his goods in his preferred position, minus the first grade pressure.
He isn't the first wonderfully talented player who's had to go back to reserves for whatever reason, some disappear, some come back stronger and wiser than before. I believe Tui's definitely in the latter category.

Reeeeally hoping that Sol injury thing ain't true. Really don't wanna watch a Wright/ Ayshford centre combo. Na bro just na.

Neither can I, Lolo had to go after that performance. But getting exsposed behind the line wasn't all on him.

Your right it wasn't, one problem with the rushed up an in defensive structure is you provide the half the opportunity to put the ball behind the line in the first place. Given we had a rookie fullback there ... maybe not the smartest strategy but hey, it's been going well for us and it took one of the best tactical kickers in the game to pants us so credit where it's due.

Indeed. Even there first kick behind for Johnstone to score you couldn't blame Manu. Tommy came right out of the line to shut down Reynolds but unfortunately missed, Manu had to come up and in and I doubt even the quickest winger could've turned and shut that one down such was the quality of the kick. Maumalo however just displayed zero awareness or urgency to scramble imo. Fusitua at the back might give them a bit more confidence, but i'd also like to see them put a bit more pressure on the kicker as well, Reynolds had an age to pick his targets.

Nah Cappy is quoted as saying he's gone back to work on his confidence and to get a run in the halves. So yeah it appears he's been dropped and will be playing in the halves, assuming Stacey Jones is on board with this plan.

Meanwhile Maumalo, who was so down on confidence he wouldn't even take the ball on the fall at the end of the game is retained? Not mention he showed no desire to get back and help out Lolohea on a number of occasions - something Hurrell was punished for by Cappy. Must be so hard playing under such inconsistent leadership.

Nah, our second rowers and fullback will over commit to cover defense expecting the usual weaknesses on the flanks to be exposed, which will leave our middle defense spread too thin allowing the Cowboys to run in easy tries through the guts...which is nothing new.

Both Hurrell and Lolo played out of position, and not their natural position, this year. Hurrell got sent away and Lolo dropped.
