Looking forward to seeing which Kiwi eligible players make their NRL debut this round. With Segeyaro and Katoa out injured you'd think ZDC would be a good chance to make his NRL debut for the Panthers this weekend.

From Having Luke, as pretty much the only Kiwi hooker jn the NRL. To now having Havili, Cherrington, Levi, Katoa and now possibly ZDC all playing NRL that hooker depth is developing nicely.

Disappointed to see no Kiwi eligible players making their NRL debut this round.

Thought ZDC might have been a chance with the Panthers. Katoa expects to return from injury next week for the panthers might get a bench spot next week.

Also wonder how long the Panthers will preserver with the Wallace/Sandoe duo. If they lose again this weekend the noise for Te Maire Martin to make his NRL debut will continue to grow louder.

Notice how no ex-warrior player who's made it is a 3/4?

Fuck I think we're going to get rooted this week. Broncos have a great team. They will open our middle up using Reed/Roberts and Thaiday off the bench. What a dangerous Centre pairing. The pack is settled, experienced and skillful. We'really fucked......

Unless we go on an attacking blitz with our spine clicking....

How is that a counter?
The fact that some didn't make it doesn't change the fact that some did.

It's not really a conuter. It was more tounge n cheek. Highlighting the fact that for every ex Warriors player who has made it as a centre in the NRL there is one who didn't. Hence highlighting why it's a pointless discussion or argument.

But that I suppose that would defeat the purpose of a forum like this.

When he signed with the Knights I thought, damn why would you let him go. Pretty obvious now.

All though Hiku is now a Centre, he was developed mostly at Wing for the juniors, IMO this highlights how far wrong we are with our development.

Even worse is the fact we are still trying to develop mini Beasts that have that many fundamental flaws for either Centre or Wing that it's ridiculous.
The Centre and Wing depth we are seeing for the Kiwis is quite amazing and all of them have skill levels that are far greater than anyone at the club.

I'm not sure who was arguing?
Lord gnome just pointed out that there was no ex warrior 3/4s who had made it and I pointed out there were two named in the teams directly above his post.
The only one who seemed to be arguing was you by bringing likiliki into it.
I think we were probably both reading something into each other's posts that wasn't actually there.
All good.

The thing about "developing" wingers is that the majority of nrl wingers didn't play there growing up- you'll find most of them were centers or fullbacks- even halves because when u have a real stand out junior their coaches want them to get the ball in their hands as much as possible and think they'd be wasted on the wing.
That's not just a warriors thing- that's across the board.
All the same, I have always thought it was strange that we haven't produced many good wingers ( apart from Manu I'm struggling to think of another one) when from an athletic pov big fast Polynesians seem like the perfect fit.
I don't buy into the argument that we're all too dumb but there's got to be something there because Union seem to pump them out by the dozen- maybe we should just pillage a couple from them? ( although if they're resorting to signing the likes of Duffy maybe I'm giving them a bit too much credit).
Playing guys like Toka Likiliki and maumalo on the wing is pretty ridiculous and you're right that they need to look at the type of players they're putting the development into but at this stage that's a long term fix. Short term I think we have to recruit.
Winterstein and Rona are both off contract ( someone mentioned linnett as well) one of them would be perfect.
I can see Lillyman, Lousi, benry and konnie all leaving at the end of the year ( if not sooner) there's likely to be a couple more shown the door too so money shouldn't be an issue.

Thought Ulberg and Aoaki were reasonable wing prospects. Not big guys admittedly but were good finishers in the Junior side.

Really looking forward to the Manly Tigs game just to see if the Tigs were good or if we made them look good.
Manly coming off a loss will have a point to prove.

Yeah fingers crossed with them two.
I had high hopes for fish and Omar too but it just didn't work out.

While Fish had the out and out pace, and Omar had the power, I don't think either of the had the raw finishing ability of Ulberg and Aoake... I still remember Aoakes first game in the juniors, he had a one on one with his man on the left wing, had absolutely no space to work with at all, and completely left him for dead with an amazing step. Keen to see how he develops.
