There should actually be a player that is obstructed though, if the try hadn't been scored it was play on and no one would have even commented that there was an issue.

Yeah completely agree that when no one is obstructed it should be play on, i think the problem they have is when is someone obstructed, where is the line drawn...i guess they have taken the line that we are seeing now that during a structured attacking play, you cant run behind a team mate.

It's shit when it goes against us, but if everyone knows the rule and more importantly the officials are consistent with it, then i suppose it takes the confusion out of those decisions.

Agree to disagree - everyone is forgetting Roache. I don't know what his injury status is but he offers more than Tevaga in the hooker role/back utility. He's stronger, faster, has a step, vision, stamina and crisper passing. Tevaga has had a great couple of games and will only better with time but Roache is the forgotten 'go to guy' for all the attributes I mentioned, and then some. Hence they signed him on a first grade contract and not Tevaga.

Tevaga is all heart and basics, a great role model for kids, but we need some xfactor across the board as much as possible.
Havent seen much of Roache in the reserve grade...is he capable of playing in halves?

Tevaga gets the nod for me.

I really rate Roache, but Tevaga has looked rock solid on both sides of the ball. His combination in defense yesterday with Gubb, Vete, Mannering, Matulino etc was brutal.

But, we still let them score 18 points - 2 easy tries in the First Half (could have been worse - they had us on the ropes), and the typical Warriors let-off to close the game (only the warriors could lead by 28 points, make a mistake off the kickoff, and let the opposing team score off the scrum). Had a bloke behind me at the game put a bet on the Knights to score in that situation - and they did exactly that. Prick.

In saying that, for the first 10-15 mins in the first half, and for the majority of the 2nd half, that's the Warriors we have been expecting from the outset.
Looking dangerous through the middle, threatening out wide - draw and passing for both our centres, Mutts offloading into the hands of Bully, SJ taking the line on, RTS busy and chiming in......man that's what we need week-in-week-out.

Still a lot to improve on - completion rate, errors, tightening up our defense, playing for the full 80....boy am I just glad we finally won a game.
The 18 points is a bit of a bugger; especially with how soft they were. Two of them they went through us without any major plays to test our defence but just with us missing tackles. The other was the worrying point in our defence just outside of Robson. We got away with it this week as we raced in the points but against the top sides we need to limit them to a lot less than 18 points to win.

The main thing is we won and got the losing streak out of the way. It would be good though that when we thrash a side it's more 40-6 instead of the 50-18, 36-20 type score lines. It's all well and good running in a lot of tries but later in the season the for and against will become important to determine places.

There was a lot to like about the display yesterday now we just need to see it backed up.

Roache is a great talent. He's well advanced, I certainly didn't expect him in NRL just yet, but his sheer audacious talent demands it. The 9s I know is very different, but one thing Roache hasn't had yet is space. I reckon he would have carved up yesterday off the go forward. His show and go is top class because of his sheer acceleration from nowhere.

The two rookies this year have been impressive. Roache seemed to spark the side in round 1, he was thrown out to the wolves in the Brisbane game to cover injuries unfortunately.

Tevaga has looked more like a seasoned pro than a rookie the last two weeks. Last week was a real relief seeing him perform like that after the late with drawl of Luke and having to play extra minutes due to Roaches injury.

At the start of the year we would have been looking at either Luke playing for 80 or due to the interchange reduction using Luke and TL. Both experienced players to guide us around the field. Now it must be tempting for the coaching staff to use one of the two youngsters as both provide a lot of enthusiasm to the side and are quick out from dummy half.

A Knights fan brought up something interesting, was it obstruction when Kata ran behind his own players to get out of the in goal ?. A bit trainspotter but reasonable thought.
Well the players in front are not offside (per rule 14.1) and are entitled to be there, so I would think therefore as long as the player in front doesn't deliberately obstruct, you couldn't call it.

You see the way Tevaga up-ended Korbin Sims?

Despite his small stature, the man is a beast on defense. Him and Gubb - lethal tacklers. Which is what we need.

He isn't actually that small seeing him beside Matulino and others. Having a bench Hooker who can player 2nd row is gold.

Without wanting to piss on the chips, letting in 18 points to the Knights is cause for concern.

Just a thought, it was nice to see in the second half our boys actually bash a team up front and up the middle for a change, the game plan for the last couple years seemed to be get parity and then Shaun Johnson to work his magic, we wouldn't actually dominate the opposition up front.

The trend for most teams seems to be to play a prop sized player at 13 ie Tamalolo Gallen, Burgess Eastwood etc, where we play 3 80 minute 2nd rowers, just wondering if we are missing a trick by not playing Matulino at 13 maybe alternating with Gubb or Lisone? I know it would mean some reshuffling in the back row but would give us more grunt up the middle.

If only he wasn't one of, if not the most error ridden, defensively pathetic wingers to ever play the game to go with it. The try tally is good, but i highly doubt any other player has played all 200 plus games of their career in the most prolific try scoring position in the game because they're too laughably unskilled to cover any other backline position...but hey, i'm sure all those amazing coaches that have continuously picked him on the wing and who are still plying their trades as head coaches in the NRL knew exactly what they were doing...wait...what?

That would be Wayne Bennett? Kiwis and All Stars (had the whole NRL to chose from too...).

Anyone else see St Georges flying V?
Whole team were within 15m of each other formed up in a v behind the ball carrier, short passes eather side busting the line.
Hard to defend without abandoning structure.
Would be worth our cattle looking at.

That's one of the main reasons I'd have him in the team.

I rate Roache (and his time will come), but we don't need more X-Factor at the moment. We need to stop points first.

It's also why I'd be more than comfortable with Leuluai coming back in for Robson when he's ready and hopefully had a run in NSW Cup. Tevaga, TL, Gubb, Matulino, Vete. That's a defensive line that can do damage alongside the usual reliable tacklers like Mannering/Lillyman etc

The best part about the Knights game (the second half at least) was the way our guys seemed to feed off each other in defense. Vete smashed one of the Knights players and the very next tackle Gubb came flying out of the line to put on a shot. Matulino got in on the act, then Tevaga dumping Sims was beautiful. It's like they were trying to one up each other at times and that's what you want, guys feeding off each others good work.

Sounds a bit complicated for our lot.
