One day someone is going to put up a 4 minute highlight video of Mannering tackling.

Might only get a dozen views, but it would be nice for some variety.

How many guys has Mannering keep in business these last couple of years?

Without his efforts against the tigers we don't make a comeback and almost win...

51 tackles is epic, he scored one try, and got a try assist...

Maybe even saved Cappy from a first round sacking.

You guys don't understand what I said about being offense minded. I never said it would win us games. I said that if they refused to play defense despite a top defensive coach in Morgan, and Manu hasn't learned to guard the edge after 10 years, it wasn't going to happen. So if they don't play defense, and their attitude sucked (Hoff said as much) the first half, turn loose the offensive threats and give the fans (and me) some excitement. Like they did the second half. When Roach came in, with Bully out, things turned around. We were playing Walker Brothers ball, throwing it around and depriving the Tigers of possession. Loved it. And we almost won if Lolo had made his kicks (I checked, he only made TWO out of five). I wouldn't put Luke on the B team, but put him on the bench for an attitude adjustment.

I just watched the replay of the game.

Found some points to consider. We played pretty well, there was a mental collapse of about 20-25min in the first half that leaked all those points. Otherwise I was pretty happy with the effort. The 2nd half was alot sharper gavet, lisone and bodene and roache made the difference in the 2nd half to help us fight back doing most of the grunt work.
Lilymans running side where he turns his body into contact is limiting his impact at contact it almost nullifies all the running he does, he needs to run straight without turning the hips, giving the side is an easy target for defenders whereas front on provides use of the hands and allows leg drive post contact.

Im pretty concerned about robson. He was terrible to be nice. He doesnt tackle, his last options plays are poor and he dropped the ball about 4-5 times, he really needs to step up otherwise i would be tempted to go with TL to sure up the defence at least.

Ayshford doesnt have the power of hurrell but was happy with his effort.

I don't think anyone would be happy when the inevitable massacre happens, and if and when we could actually win a game is another story all together.

As most players no matter what Senior grade will tell you, it isn't the amazing linebreaks and tries that are fulfilling it's when you keep a team out after 3 or 4 sets or keeping a good team scoreless that has an amazing uplifting effect on everyone that fills everyone with a sense a Pride that can't be replaced.

Guys I know manu dropped the ball 2 times. but when you try like him things go wrong.....have a look at his stats for the game though
16 hit ups more then any other player in our team 151 meters made 2nd only the Roger Tuivasa-Sheck ...James Gavet had a great game and made 14 hit ups and made 138 meters for 1 drop so manu dropped the ball one more time then him. and he was our best player just wish manu could hold his wing..coach needs to go!!!

Sorry but with all due respect Gavet was only on for 38 minutes - Manu and Roger Tuivasa-Sheck the whole 80. Plus Gavet's 'error' was either for the offload that was intercepted close to the line or the penalty he gave away when Sirronen locked his arm in. He didn't actually drop the ball - well at least I don't think he did?

Agree 100% about the defense. My point is that we haven't learned to play defense in Nelson or Campbelltown after an entire pre-season. Why would we all of the sudden learn? And we have one of the best defensive coaches around, straight from the Storm. Hand-picked by Cappy. Why would it be a massacre? Where would the weakness be? Worse than Kata/Manu's edge? I agree, Lillyman, like Luke, need to play with intensity and passion or sit on the bench or B team. Bull did it for Origin, why not with us?

same thing to me you still handing the ball over and good point about the 80 mins but I would say if manu was playing 40 mins in the forwards he would make the same meters if not more mabe people are right about it being time for the forwards I don't know but I don't think we can afford to lose the meters manu makes every week.i hope manu improves next week.Gavet was awesome !!! hope he can do it every week like manu has for the last 10 years

It would be everywhere because the middle ends up compensating for the weak fringes, the middle gets tired and hello they are making linebreaks at will.

Lillyman was poor, Luke was Solid as mentioned elsewhere it is very very rare for anyone to be at their best in a new team particularly the Warriors, match fitness will come and Bully will play like Bully does 90% of the time, FTR he does have average to shit games just like everyone else does.
If we hadn't taken a bitch slapping in the 1st half which had SFA to do with him we wouldn't even be talking about it.

We are stuck at our own line because of handling errors and penalties, a back to back penalty against the Warriors is an instant try in the corner.

They need to eliminate the errors at least, and on defence and offence our outside backs seem to always represent in those categories.

I'm not bagging the guy's past accomplishments, or saying he's rubbish, or that he's a loser. I'm saying that his attitude sucked, he was out of shape physically, and mentally he wasn't in the game. You know he is coming back from an injury right?

Plus you can't compare Roache's work to Luke's. One started and played 40 mins when our pack was getting pumped. One came off the bench against a tiring side, when our pack was going forward.

You expected them to win the first 6 games? I am pretty confident we have never been 6-0 at the start of the season.

You need to stop the fixation you have over Bully, he did nothing wrong, it wasn't his fault our left fringe couldn't make reads that 12year olds can.
Do you actually know the difference between pre-season fitness and match fitness?
That's all it was, there was obviously a specific game management plan beforehand which is why Nate was named.
Unless you have played in that heat and particularly a 1st game of the season you should leave it alone, he didn't play badly but was a touch underwhelming, he wasn't the reason the Team was eating shit, it was actually the guys you keep naming in your team and Nate didn't offer a whole heap and only played 20 odd minutes with a big break in between.

Why do you hate bully so much? Maybe you should head on down to mt smart and give him a ear full! It's probably what he needs to hear! Tell him how lazy and uninterested he is! Tell him he should show more pride in that warriors jersey as do all the other players! Mate please let go of your obsession it's a long season and it's not healthy!

Nah, I love Bully! He's a South Taranaki guy like me. Would love to talk with him about his performance, as I only wish the best for him. To my mind, he's the best hooker in the game, or certainly on a par with Smith. Just very disappointed in the Warriors as a whole the first half, save for Gavet, Shauny J, and a few others. Believe me, I'm hoping Bully has a blinder against Broncos. He has something to prove, and I hope he does. I would love to ride on the Bully Express.
