I'm not tryin to preach brother. I'm simply posting my opinions and takes on our team, on a public forum designed for the very cause. Creating debate doesn hurt nobody, so appreciate the response champ.

I feel there is a general consensus which advocates picking out certain players on our squad and lofting the blame onto them for our shortfalls. Some of it is warranted, some of it is nit picking and following the crowd.

Atleast that's how I see it.

Kata doesn't deserve as much criticism as he cops. He's a rook, give him a chance. In saying that, it's been hard on us fans to watch our team consistantly underperform. That's where a lack of patience comes in to play, watching our rooks learn the ropes at the expense of winning footy games. Our club is future-focused, and for the first time in a long time we have something to look forward to.

My beef with Friend was a reaction to the same nit picking that goes on with TL. TL has been solid this season, but never good enough for some fans. He isn't the world class Hooker we desire, but there are only a few of them in the game and we are blessed to have signed one of them for next season. I'm allowed to disagree, just as your allowed your opinion. Makes or great coversation, atleast. Friend always plays with his heart though, fearless and has been a great member if this team. Hope he retains a off field role next season.

Absolutely but blaming a guy who plays 15 mins? I've been one of his biggest fans but even I agree it's time to try something different off the bench now. But we can't blame him for last nights average performance (we came away with the win but lets be honest it was poor). TL has been pretty good so far this season but he obviously favours going left rather than right (because he isn't comfortable passing left to right) which I think takes away from our strengths considering Shaun Johnson and Hurrell are often on the right. We hardly went right at all last night when we are in the attacking 20 and when we did we created opportunities and scored.

Anyway I wonder what happens to him when Bully comes next season because he isn't a very good 5/8. I agree re Friend, time to sign him up to an off the field role, ideally in the fitness/training side of things.

If the Warriors cant sign a standoff and Townsend leaves then it will be TL vs TL for standoff.

If Leuluai doesn't get the job I'm sure he will be on the bench to cover halves, hooker and he has been used at lock too. Loloheia on the other hand would cover the halves, fullback and outside backs from the bench unless he is preferred as a starter on the wing.

Next year will be real interesting, if they sign a standoff or centre the team dynamic completely changes again.

As passionate Warriors fans we do tend to shoot from the lip (Esp after a few Beersies)but generally most of us get our rationale back within a few days. Only problem that I have is some dudes on here get a mancrush on a player and will never see their faults. I sometimes wonder if it is their Dad on here defending his son. :D

Sorry If I repeat what's already been mentioned.. bit too much to skim through and read but very pleased with last night's effort..

Away wins are like gold in this competition this was a sweet victory, a precious 2 points and also got that Sydney hoodoo out of the way. On the back of the Kiwis efforts our rep boys looked a little jaded but the team made few errors they were defensively strong and the intent was there, better attitude then the Titans game.

When the game was on the line we showed a touch more killer instinct and wanted it more then them.. Even after Kata knocked on over the line we still kept attacking and finished them off.. that's satisfying to see.

Looked like Fifita had gotten them home with his try but not to be.. very good knowledgeable forward play by Fifita, toyed with Townsend bumped off Peyroux shrugged off Kata then scored, that's doing your homework by running at smaller defenders. Good attitudes by our players not to drop their heads and give it up but Johnson pulled off the sweet plays to get us home, very pleased.

Hoffman had a tireless game, ball carries were strong, work rate was awesome and it was that charge down that was the defining moment of the game, simply brilliant.

Lisone just needs to tone down those silly penalty plays and he'll be even better, just a bit of youthful exuberance but he can handle the physicality. He can take a hit and dish it back so he's definitely the real deal, same with Vete

Lolohea becoming known for those chase down defensive plays, you can appreciate those try saving tackles there crucial plays in there own right

Thompson played well except for that shocker of a pass to Konnie at the start of the game but he was good as the game went on

Why did Konnie get put on report? Are you farkin kdding me?! Can't believe he got punished for a beautiful run.. absolute farcical officiating!. We've been waiting to see those powerful venomous ball carries and that was poetry in motion. Unlucky for Tupou but that's the exact type of damage Konnie can do to opponents when charging at full pelt. There was no intent to hurt Tupou you can sort of see Konnie bracing for the impact himself, how he got put on report for that is bs.

Putting the ball under the outside arm isn't too much to expect from a u20's or nsw cup player is it? I'm flabbergasted that we can have first graders not doing that basic.

He has bombed more than 2 tries and put pressure on us at key moments more than twice. Next year with so many quality players around those antics will stick out like a sore thumb.

Interestingly, when the Hoff made his chargedown and break he had the ball in the wrong arm. Lucky to not lose it in a strip by Barba. Kata will learn

Edit: Ha Ha, just read all the other flak on this. Had to say it looked like Barba did try and strip the ball but the Hoff is obviously stronger than Friend. lol.

Kata looks to be a right hander playing on the left? Immediate reaction in fatigue/excitement, whatever, tuck it under your natural arm.

Totally agree though that it was the putdown, not the arm that caused the problem

losing the ball over the try line can't be compared with a 'what if', it's a sin and you can be 110% sure the coach will pull Kata aside and let him know how lucky his is. Conversely, Hoffman will get a pat on the back from Cappy for his effort.

Kata is a tremendous talent and will win us many games ala Hurrell but both are far from finished products yet, just wait and see how good they'll be once they have reached 150 games each ala Vatuvei

Yes really rate Kata, sure he is still on L plates but yeah give him time and he is another Clinton Toopi.

how bout that hit by Vete on their centre, guys shoulder was screwed after that beaut

Agree, for big guys Lisone and Vete are really light on their feet. Lisone in particular has a neat late step at the line. I think this year with all the rookies in the side it emphasises the point "if you're good enough"

From my perspective I'm not so fussed with the fact that Kata didn't transfer the ball to the outside arm (which is actually a very basic skill you learn in schoolboy league much less NYC, Reserve Grade etc)

For me it's more about the fact that all Kata had to do when he bombed that first try attempt was fall over the line, the safe low risk high percentage play, but for whatever reason he chose to implement the one handed plant, which greatly increased the risk of losing the ball, which is exactly what happened

I mean how many times have we seen very talented players bomb absolute sitters (Akuila Uate immediately springs to mind) because they chose the sexy looking one handed plant over the not so sexy dive, I just don't understand why, especially given the fact that last nights game was in the balance at the time, any player would choose to greatly increase the risk of what should be a near risk free play & to do it twice in a matter of minutes, makes me question if Kata actually realised what he did wrong in the first place

To put it another way, if Kata had bombed the second try by repeating the exact same error of judgement he had only minutes earlier, would anyone still actually be trying to defend him because "he's only a rookie with a handful of games etc" ... I very much doubt it

In saying that I definitely don't "hate" Kata (only one cu** from last night's game planted a seed of hate in my heart & that mofo's name is Brett "Noddy" Kimmorley & even then I don't actually hate the man himself, it's just his whiney little one eyed cock of a voice that I hate, give me Halligan over that shit any day lol) & I actually think the kid is quite a talented player, but for all that talent I still have my doubts as to weather he is 1st Grade center material at this stage

As for Hurrell's raised knee, I don't think he intentionally meant to hurt Tupou like he did, but I've always believed that raising the knee before a tackle like that was deemed illegal regardless of weather you injure your opponent or not, in the same way that leading with your elbow into a tackle is illegal. I practice MMA so these kind of incidents don't make me squeamish at all, but even in MMA you have to play by the rules & are penalised if you don't, Hurrell fucked up through poor technique & the result was Tupou getting his jaw smashed to pieces, cut & dried imo

For anyone trying to defend that action I would ask if the roles were reversed & an opposing player did that to one of the Warriors boys, would you still call it an accidental consequence of contact sport or would you be crying blue murder ? ... you can't have it both ways imo

I also wish Tupou a speedy complication free recovery, I've had my jaw broken twice & both times fucking sucked the kumara big time, both literally & metaphorically, so I definitely have a bit of empathy for the guy

just watching the try that Kata bombed looks like he was trying to do a slam dunk on the try line lol, have been a bit critical of Kata, but besides the slam dunk hes been pretty good the last few weeks... I'm sure he wont want to do a stupid play like that again, considering all he had to do was fall on the line.

My biggest gripe was prob Chads weak as defense, two weeks in a row, hes let in tries. he must of attended the Mateo school of tackling...

and Cappys stupid use and interchange selections, Friend looks slow, laborious, offers nothing on attack. Dom looks busy has a lot of energy but actually does nothing, for a fresh man on the field, what a piss poor tackle on Fafita. to me whats the point having those players if they dont make a impact, get bigger bodies on the bench a Ikahihifo or Lousi and at least try Havilli for 10mins cant be worst then what Friends bringing...

I was more or so nit-picking myself by calling out the TL haters by screaming "Friends playing like shit, what you gotta say now!". Hypocritical right? :p

I was more or so blaming Friend for being a perfect example for why people shouldn't bag on TL so much. But people are very much entitled to their opinions and my remarks are only meant to cause friendly debate ;)

I had a similar reaction to last night to many on here. Looked like one of those awful games to forget for the first 70, then the last 10 mins sparked it into something worth noticing.

Whilst there is still a massive amount of room for improvement, there were a couple of good signs. Tui's cut out ball to Jono Shite was actually quite good, and something I wouldn't have backed him to do even 2 or 3 games ago. His part in those backline plays looked a little smoother and less forced.

Shaun may not have been brilliant all night but look what happens when he's actually touching the ball when it counts, he got the ball at the right time which led to 2 tries, first one created by him, second one scored by him. That needs to continue, whatever bullshit plan that saw Chad getting the ball in those situations has to be put to bed. Townsend has his place but the split between them can't be 50-50, and when it counts, we need Shaun receiving the ball every single time.

Kata does my head in, do all the hard work then run at the line with an outstretched arm from a metre or 2 out, just insanity. Every player in the NRL coming across will attack the ball and/or your arm in a desperate attempt to save a try when they know they won't stop your body from going over, so why serve them that opportunity on a plate? If we'd lost and Konrad wasn't about to be banned I'd be dropping him for Tui next week, that was just moronic.
