If you base the Warriors in Brisbane you might as well just rename them Brisbane to give the NRL their second Brissy team and pretend NZ doesn't exist.

Very few people will follow a transplanted league team and the NZ population in QLD is exaggerated.

As I've said before, the chants you here at Suncorp are a vocal minority. The crowd is still overwhelmingly Brisbane.

The numbers aren't there and basing a NZ team in Brisbane just won't work.

Would be good to get some facts on that. I dont see people following a transplanted team a problem. Teams which got integrated still follow the team they joined even without either their locality name or their team name in the club name.

Yes that would be handy for Qld, but I actually think that could work for them and the NRL. NZ Warriors based in South Brisbane. Nobody is going to care if its got NZ Warriors or South Brisbane Warriors in Brisbane. Plus the Warriors would have so much more access to better coaching and players and actually feel part of the NRL community.

I'm sure the people of NZ would care. That's the problem.

Just ask the people of Fitzroy what they think of the Lions.

Brisbane would support a transplanted team based in Brisbane, called Brisbane.

The NZ population in QLD isn't big enough to support a NZ side when you consider that a large majority of that NZ population probably aren't league fans.

Broncos v NZ games would get maybe 4-5k max NZ fans and that's probably being generous. If the population was there surely more would turn out for a one off game every year.

It’s common for teams in the USA to move home locations. But they never retain the original locations name.

100% the fans lost from NZ wouldn’t be made up by the expats in Brisbane.
Central coast wholeheartedly rejected the Eagles as they didn’t want a transplanted team- can’t see Brisbane being any different, plus despite the hate they have a more successful team in the Broncos as an option so why would they choose the Warriors? They didn’t choose the Titans.

Another way to look at it as I doubt many would dump the Warriors if the Sharks or Tigers moved to NZ
