No charges against Warriors player over sex allegation

Warriors league player Kevin Locke will not face criminal charges over an alleged sexual assault on a woman.

Locke was investigated after an early morning incident in central Auckland several weeks ago, but police said today no charges would be laid.

"The investigation has been completed and there are no grounds to lay criminal charges against him," said police spokesperson Noreen Hegarty.

Early in April the Warriors confirmed Locke was being investigated and his lawyer John Haigh, QC, said he wanted his name to be published to avoid speculation.

He also said Locke wanted to make it clear he had done nothing wrong and he was co-operating fully with police.

Police said no one would be charged over the incident, including the woman, apparently at the centre of the incident.

Locke had been socialising with her earlier in the night.

Of course he was innocent. hasn't even hit puberty yet.
And why wont the woman be charged?? She made a false allegation, where her punishment?

I'm surprised he was over the height restriction to get into the bar in the first place.

Do you reckon he still wonders what it's like to go on the rollercoaster at Rainbow's End?

Apparently he is a bit of a douche in town, but I don't care about that. Love his footy!

Hendog took the mockery of him well and truly on his blog at one stage - it was quite funny. I think Locke had tried to be cool, but it had backfired among the players and he was really embarrassed.

I'm referring to the sticker on his car, if anyone can recall that one.

Ha...it was one of only a few Hendog blog entries I read, but I'll try to find it...

...nope, the site has changed its URL and I can't navigate it wel enough to find blogs older than March this year. Alas.

Basically, Locke had put his Warriors number on his car, but as soon as one of the guys found out about it, he begged them not to tell anyone...and of course said teammate embarrassed him in front of the whole team at the airport.

A bit of a "had to be there" scenario, methinks, but I found it interesting how Locke's demeanor among the public and among the team differ.

And of course, I don't know the guy, so I'm unfairly projecting a whole heap of stuff onto him, but yeah.

Number as in 164, or whatever, or jersey number?

I guess he would have been shyer as a younger player, he'd grow in confidence in the top team.
