Bridges gorne...National is tatters....Labour set to rule without the clingons.

Adern will have the last word. rule by the will of the people and not through a king maker.

I read the other day Andern has been dealing with a couple of death threats. One is a local, the other was a right winger from Northern Ireland.

Got me thinking if one of these types assassinated our prime minister, what would be her legacy...

I suspect there would be deep mourning and a realisation that a leader who had a global profile for tolerance, positivity, and caring about others will not come along again for a very long time, they only appear once several decades.

Listening to Todd Muller's first speech as the leader of the National party. Don't know anything about the bloke.

First impressions, he speaks okay, seems to have a personable side, which he will need to take on Adern.

I liked his speech overall. It was pleasantly surprising, mind you after the last guy, who was very punchable with his smarmy slimy lawyer profile it is not hard to be an improvement on that.

What made me laugh is the Stuff feed or article about the National leadership meeting had an update:

"Look they have to leave their phones behind so they can't even leak to us"

The media and politics are full leaks and busy bodies. My wife told me about a conference call where a colleagues partner found out about potenial salary cuts from the Herald. They published it before the staff knew.

Parliament is weird. We do software that can trace leaks. They didn't want that as it's part of politics. They have an empty office we they leave papers and the media walk past to collect them.

Bridges got rolled pretty much by a guy no one had heard of. Everyone was expecting Mark Mitchell or someone else with a bit more of a profile.

Bridges was like the Labour leaders against Key. Think Goff, Cunnliffe and Little. Unlikeable and come off as angry and unhappy. I know part of that is being in opposition but National were in a competitive spot after the last election. Difficult against a popular PM but could of kept their approval higher with the right choice of leader.

They need to release policies. Labour after 9 years in opposition didn't have much policies and a lot of them have failed. They are pretty much propped up by Jacinda, Robertson and Parker. A lot of the others like Clark and Twyford, the country should be getting their money back.

I think Bridges and Bennet going is the best thing for the country.
Unlikely but if those poll results stood labour would have to make power and way too many untalented MPs.

Bridges had the really uncanny talent of completely misreading the tone of the nation.

I knew his father. One thing he inherits from him is that he is a very sensible speaker. That is obviously why they have chosen him to match Comrade Jacinda's communication skills. The other thing is that his dad was not a standard wealthy National party type. He started with very little and built up a herd as a sharemilker in the Waikato and then went into kiwifruit in Te Puna. He was a typical sharemilker. Hard working, frugal, practical and sensible. He made a few enemies because kiwifruit is a very political industry but apart from that did well and was respected for his ability. Todd seems to have learned a lot about industry politics from his father, as he is wisely respected in the rural sector.

Mark my words ladies and jellybeans comrade Jacinda has been very lucky as to how the covid thing has turned out...so far...just wait until November and see if we have had a new pandemic wave...and also to see how shite the economy will be. People are pretty farking fickle when they lose their jobs. Just saying like.

I am not arguing for arguments sake, rather representing a different opinion that is a sentiment shared by other Kiwis.

Personally I think is is the other way around. We are lucky to have had Adern in charge through Covid...and that opinion is shared by the majority.

Adern is not lucky to have landed with an economy breaking pandemic.

Also the point about the middle classes, lets call a spade a spade here, the traditional National voters...I think you will find that Labours soaring popularity is being fueled by that group switching sides...

Why? because they realise they are about to join the great un washed, and as such they are turncoats now that the shoe is on the other foot...they when faced with the loss of their incomes, are choosing a socialist govt with its empathy toward the welfare state..which they realise they may well be soon part of...national wont give a fuck that someone who was a soaring entrepreneur in say tourism yesterday, now needs help..they will treat them as tax bludgers and seek to punish them for their failures in a capitalist system as they always have.

Haves and Have nots is a saying for a reason. Ask Simon Bridges how he feels about his mortgage now.

Nobody wants it because it will be short term just so the election isn’t a landslide. Everybody knows luxon is being groomed to take over but they couldn’t put a leader in that hasn’t even been through an election yet. Once he takes the botany seat he will rise through the ranks.

The issue with what you're saying is that it's not the Prime Ministers fault people lost their jobs.

My hope is National become less punitive under a new leadership, more centre than right of centre. Pushing Labour more to the left.
Certainly still a place for a more conservative outlook, but less punitive of the have nots would be nice. And possibly less gutter politics come election time now that Bennett is gone.

National was ahead of labour last poll. This poll reflects Ardern’s handling of Covid and the current positivity.

Covid has put Labour in the position to win the election although it will close up.

A lots going to happen in the next few months. Game on.

She has handled things better than Boris and Donald, but compared with Morrison? Apparently the Oz economy is being better managed.
SLoMo, has been quick to claim the credit, however if left to him Australia, by now would look just like the US or England. The true credit inside Australia belongs to the premiers of the states. They were the ones who sent the kids home, they closed the borders, they ignored him and forced the country to face what was coming and slow/flatten the curve. The economic costs of letting the disease run its course will be calculated in the future by looking at those countries that ignored it, until they couldnt. The world may never act in concert about anything again as its so unusual to see life put before dollars. But till then there are people to thank. Hes just not one of them.

Not sure where you're getting you're information, but the Australian chief economist fronted their parliament and said their economy will be fucked for years, and not to listen to what Morrison and his cronies are spouting.
Aussie is fucked, so be glad you are with a communist run country chump.
