Forum has been very quiet this weekend. Are we all a little nervous?
This year I have protected myself from disappointment with a very pragmatic expect nothing approach and it has been very rewarding, Today we sit in the top eight which exceeded my expectations. Many Warriors fans take this approach, I have read it from folks in these forums for years. It is not some brain child of mine.

Forty something years of following NZ Rugby league has proved beyond any shadow of a doubt, that if you are expecting a win, you are dreaming. It might happen, but more often in thousands of games it will not (your memory of those times where we upset the world are like tricks of the mind, they are not common place, they are not the most likely).

These are the facts and the facts of history are indisputable.

A key thing to remember, if you are truly a realist, is that NZ league is light years behind Australia. Only three and a half thousand adults are registered players, and a chunk of them are women.

If you reduced Aussies pool of players to those numbers then names like Lewis Johns Smith Lokyer Thurston Fittler would likely not exist. Maybe one of them every twenty to fifty years.

Yet Warriors fans cling to this life daft dream of making it to the promised land.

It is as kind of madness.

Last night I went to bed stressed about today's game for the first time this season. I couldn't work out why....then it hit me....a line from Shawshank redemption "Hope is a dangerous thing"....

Today I am calm, having realised we have no right to beat Manly, they know it, they have the mental wood on us, and it is Australian hard wood, not some balsa from the local model shop.

So today I am looking for the same thing I have enjoyed every week win or lose, to see some of our younger players grow. To see what is coming in what is shaping up to finally, be another good era for the Warriors should the injuries right themselves.

If we win mate, It will get harder and harder to control ones expectations, especially when Addin Fonua-Blake comes back.

If we think we are nervous now....imagine the weeks nearing the finals if we are in the thick of it and our best players are fit....

God I wish I could do that. Every loss is so painful but I do think that makes the wins so much better. I have let it not ruin my weekend as much but that is far as I got. I still can't watch other games or shows if we lose but watch them all if we win

I think the Warriors just have the edge on Manly if we can contain and tackle turbo out of the game we are half way there..... Im not sure how Brown is going to manage his bench since he wants Chanel Harris-Tavita out there... Im assuming itll be Murchie who gets cut, and like some on here I would rather rest Tevaga instead, hes not been his usual energetic self last couple weeks, rest could do him good and Murchie could probably do with a run.... also thinking Chanel Harris-Tavita to the bench to sub Kody, who'll most likely sub Egan... to many variables, anyway would leave Walsh out there been to good and would only pull him if hes having a shocker, its upto Chanel Harris-Tavita to be picked and not just walk back into halfback mantle...... waiting on a complete performance from the Warriors....... 28-14

I imagine the reasons the Warriors won't to play Walsh until he gets hooked in a shocker scenario is that it would send a negative signal to the player.

I assume that is the scenario they are trying to avoid by reducing minutes now.

Today will be interesting, it is much harder to come on from the bench if you are an organising type of player, and to settle into the rhythm of a game that you have not started.

Doubly hard if the Warriors are getting pumped.

lets hope Walsh is introduced when the Warriors are on an upswing...which would be a first in a long time of Warriors coaching....usually we wait till the game is lost before letting young guns out there....or the game is won.

Who is your run on 13? I expect to see us start with this formation..

1. Roger Tuivasa-Sheck
2. Berry
3. Aitken
4. Pompey
5. Maumalo
6. Walsh
7. Chanel Harris-Tavita
8. Jamayne Tounua-Brown
9. Egan
10. Evans
11. Curran
12. Harris
13. Tevaga

14. Nikorima
15. Ah Mau
16. Murchie
17. Sironen

Afoa drops out this week, as does Kosi.
Yours please (as deaker used to say…)
thats probably as close to the team I want to see out there..... Berry outside Aitken good move also I like the idea Kody on the bench plus having CHTs defense justs tightens us up

i think it helps if you realise that the Roosters, Penrith, Canberra, all came from roughly where we are now, they signed a lot of good players (which we are only starting to) and they took at least a season to become top four sides.

Penrith even sacked their highly successful coach under Gould in their rebuild.

How can we be comparing ourselves to them in our first year of an era? There is no way we will look anything like them this year consistently.

I am happy to see us steadily build, knowing this year was never our year, it could be a great year though. So far for mine it has been very good, no ones humiliated us, the players care...things look great with three new marquee players. Addin Fonua-Blake Ben Murdoch-Masila Walsh are as good as any club could hope to pick up from the player market as a trio.

If we lose today it will not take any of that away as long as the effort remains.

Been there mate... and you can change... seeing my young fella start doing the same thing with his team pulled me up quick smart... Took some time but now we both have changed for the better.
I have become a lot more controlled in that I don't take it personally... Only when there is definite Ref and Bunker bias it can still get to me, but we have this forum to offload.

To be honest, what would hurt me most if we lost today would be if DCE had a blinder. I just don't like the man, his Titans back-flip and the persistant rumour that every Manly player agreed to take a pay cut or pay freeze so the club could afford to resign IIRC both of the Stewart boys, which DCE had agreed to, only to immediately get himself an upgrade. Therefore there wasn't enough left in the cap for the Stewarts.

And if DCE does win the game for the Sea Beagles, can it pretty please, rugba league lords, can it pretty please with sprinkles on top, not be by a fxxxing field goal!?
Manly and Melbourne are two teams I really enjoy beating.

I think because I followed league before the Warriors, or maybe it's more because I follow a EPL team that for decades has caused pain and misery, I can watch every NRL game whether or not the Warriors win.

In the last Manly game, our attack was shocking. This has been rectified with Walsh and Kodi combining .... why would they want to break up that partnership?

Prepared for the forum to gut Chanel Harris-Tavita with a butchers knife today, should he not get 5 TA's, 3 tries himself, and chase down Turbo to stop the game winning try.

GL Warriors, this will be a tough game today. Looking forward to seeing Aitken/Chanel Harris-Tavita back in the mix. They may not have blinders today, but the sooner we can get all our best players back onboard the sooner our combos can start gelling.

I don't care about Chanel Harris-Tavita and cheap thrills.

What I always look for with him is signs that he is helping guide a cohesive backline.

Therefore, it will be fascinating to see, if the shape and inter passing that appeared the minute he was out....is still there or not.

I will be happier about seeing that from Chanel Harris-Tavita than seeing anything from Walsh or anyone else in this team.

I do not expect Chanel Harris-Tavita to come back after a break and have them running like the Storm.

I do hope to see clear ideas about how sets will end and how set plays are run. Good luck to him, he has a lot on his shoulders. Kodi has to do his bit too....I mean what I am looking for comes from a pairing of halves, it is not all on Chanel Harris-Tavita.

I also hope we get to see a Chanel Harris-Tavita Walsh chemistry at some point, maybe not today...but lots to look forward to no matter the result of this one game.

Probably my fault for telling everyone to shutup about Kodi being our halfback after 1 promising 40 minutes
