Damn I have a funny story about a guy I worked with in the early 80s, his SSS a vacuum and his dick. Just not sure how I can work it into a thread about the bludgers in the media though without it being considered off topic. Anyone on here work for the Herald and want an exclusive so I can tell it without it getting deleted?

So what are the chances Stuff do a story tomorrow on the Herald not being able to write their own shit while pinching posts from this thread.

TBH all the media I read these days seems to be 6 lines of what happened and 2 pages of twitter, text and tweet about how much everyone loved the perp and what a great person he/she was.
Perhaps if they hadn't been pissed, stoned, in a stolen car, evading police with a bunch of underage retards, they may have survived.

What I hate is these articles often have the full twitter quote in a screen shot where you can easily read it and then they also write the exact same thing below it in the article. It is lazy padding

Those articles drive me nuts as you read they same thing multiple times.

Since finding forums I've noticed a lot of rumours seem to come from sites like this where someone has heard of a player moving clubs etc due to having a contact within the club or players family etc.

It was a shock to see the club dragged into the Fale vs ARL business. It doesn't help with Fale who seems to say the first thing that comes into his head or goes off with controversial comments as he thinks it pushes his cause. He is quick to push the racism angle. He hinted at racism about a month ago when there was a report that his consortium were about to move on as the deal didn't go through one particular night. Now his issues with the ARL are due to race.

The posts listed were debating the silly points raised. But when you see the site mentioned (not being directly quoted is another issue) with Fale saying the ARL has trolls on here against them. Despite how stupid it sounds a casual reader can get the wrong idea and may think there is racist content on here.

We also have Fale who on one of the conference calls was asking about the site and seemed positive about it especially with their aim for fan engagement. He came back saying he is back and willing to answer questions but we find out he has been going off about ARL trolls on here going after him. Someone posted it was like Days of Our Lives on here that's a good analogy.

Accused ARL of leading a forum campaign to turn supporters against the consortium.
The quoted piece of the forum convo indicated Fale and Mac's suggestion that the prospect of the club being owned by Polys might have inspired their current hot form.

Interestingly, none of those claims can be confirmed or denied. IMO Fale's using the media to try and pressurize the stakeholders into selling to him. The Herald, being a tabloid was only too happy to not only write his story, but embellish it by leaving the context of the quotes hidden. See how good he is at manipulating the media. It's superb. He has them in his palm.

We can only speculate on the veracity of his words concerning convos with McGregor. I mean I would not be surprized if McGregor did speak racist words. His generation and before were pre-conditioned to saying things like "Waiheke is a white man's island". But I'd equally be unsurprized if he didn't. I don't know him. The fact that people get up-in-arms about Fale calling him out as a bigot, says a lot too. It's as if Fale couldn't possibly be telling the truth. You'd rather believe the guy who runs the organization that you guys said couldn't run shit.

Inasmuch as the media get blamed, duly, for their irresponsible ways, they wouldn't exist if the public wasn't so eager to eat it all up (the shit that is)

The article referencing this site as a popular fan site instead of listing the URL. Are they trying to hide one of their sources for where they get rumours, gauge fan opinions?

I was a bit annoyed seeing our discussions linked to an article covering racism, especially when the posters were more arguing the silly argument for the clubs 5 wins being tied to the ownership and the Fale bid. The wins are more down to recruitment, improved fitness, change in playing style, improved defense etc. You know all of the stuff they admitted they are not experts in.

Its going to happen but at the very least they should have had the courtesy to link the forum in the article. Not wait to be contacted. Using the forums name would have best.

What irks me is seeing journos ripping off points made by posters on here and stating the opinion as their own. I have seen a number of articles that were pretty much plagiarized articles of posts on here. Sup42 knows what Im talking about. Been awhile since I have a ripped piece but it was common 3-4 years ago.

Always nice to have rumours from here confirmed or picked up by media.

Sorry but your "Waiheke is a white man's island." quote is about as wrong as you can get, if the whole conversation is taken in full context and the whole thing that was said is used, the original comment by the person that claimed it to be racist was actually the one that made the racist comment, Sir Mad was actually doing the exact opposite.

History proves the butcher is about as non racist as it gets, he treats everyone the same, and if all the people that jumped up and down about a snippet taken from something he said as part of a whole discussion, gave half as much to half as many groups as the butcher has the country would be a better place.
