Just one thing I would challenge:
It should be considered that this young man is an angry echo of Isis at its peak. He was radicalised at a time the Caliphate spanned enormous territory. Since then, Isis has crumbled. It exists in pockets. Its focus is on survival and far less on exporting terror across the world.

I know, I meant what they should have done It reminds me of a guy who shot a Cop in the Southern US. he wouldn't surrender so they shot him 45 times. When asked why 45 shots the Sherriff replied they ran out of ammunition. Te Coroner declared it natural causes, when you are shot 45 times, naturally you die.

I've just been watching the full press conference and the Prime Minister clearly states that she could not give out certain information based on the law and privacy acts. Then the stupid reporters often go back and ask her the same questions and she cannot answer them and is clearly pissed off. They don't get it. They are just dumb idiots.

I know they are just doing their jobs but when she says she can't tell them the full time line and why, what, where, when, and how, they need to listen to her.

That's along the lines of what the article posted on here says by Bruce. It's the bloody law. You'd think the reporters would have a grasp of that. If she was to ignore that she'd be exactly what all these conspiracy theorists say she is and be acting like a communist or whatever they say she is.
Hopefully they update the laws, he should've been deported the first time he was charged.

The man reportedly told a worshipper at his mosque he planned to join Isis in Syria, then was caught at Auckland International Airport after booking a one-way ticket to Syria in May 2017.

Whats the point of a Terrorism Suppression Act if it doesn’t cover preparing (not just planning) a terror attack?

Difficult. The government is wrestling over the hate speech legislation and it is for guys like this.

But as they are finding, it’s a fine line when it impacts free speech. It’s very hard to change people views on life, especially religion where you have revolved your ethics, morals, lifestyle, etc around it and basically given years of your life to something bigger. It becomes so embedded that it becomes unviable to admit you could be wrong.

Honestly when someone’s already caught planning an act like this, there has to be laws where they can hold these guys, until they are not a risk anymore. This was a failure of our legal system.

There was an Order for Psych assessment, it was never done. Corrections have offered no comment as to why not.

Seriously though those cops are well trained, that is a lot of lead, not quite Bonnie and Clyde, but they must have really been pumped up.

My guess is the cunning little shite picked Countdown New Lynn, during lockdown, because if I were him, and wanted to lose my tail that would be the best supermarket I know to do it.

Those cops would have known that straight away when they lost sight of him.

The adrenalin would have been pumping.

I though the same myself...but...as you know the psychiatrists have a professional method of working out insanity...this fecker wasn't insane... just plain bad.

So the psychiatrists would have been asked to bend their ethics which I think is a big ask.

Now judges are a different breed...they bend ethics all the time.
