Why can't we have nice things?

I don't know what it is about the Warriors but we just seem to get so many injuries.

The only man happy about this would be Webster, was probably a pretty big headache where to fit Metcalf in those first 6 weeks or so, now he has the luxury of giving Te Maire Martin, Shaun Johnson, Charnze Nicoll-Klokstad and likely the centers a whole month to see who struggles, then replace the least performing player with Metcalf

That’s less than ideal to build some cohesion around a pair of them if they’re alternated all time. Same issue as last year with Shaun Johnson not being able to settle with one partner.
That’s been the story of his career though hasn’t it- had more 5/8s than coaches and that’s saying something.
Gutted for metcalf but there’s still a couple of weeks till round one so shouldn’t miss too much. Just hope he comes back 100 percent.

Could be that Te Maire Martin is at the birth of his child too. Awesome for him and would never expect him to be absent for a pre season match, or any match but would be a shame going into round 1 without our top combination having some game time against opposition other than the team simulations through pre season. Is Volkman available for selection or still rehabilitating? On the flip side it’s good to face some adversity early on to prepare for what might lie ahead.

Inevitable

Unfortunate it’s before the season even starts

League is a brutal sport.

I’m sure if they did some stats on injuries you would find every player is hurt at some point in the season. The less fortunate have repeats or extended time on the side.

Having depth at key positions is so important

Well, that nipped a lot of the pointless speculation in the bud.

All those clamouring for Metcalf at 6 and 1 are just going to have to get behind Te Maire Martin and Shaun Johnson... And pray because Volkman is down too and wearing mirrored shades.

Next cab of the rank is a misspelled postal address, Mr Eiden Ackland...

That's four down this week. Dropping like flies at Warriors training. Have they thought of using soft mats or mattresses?

Disappointed Metcalf is injured. Was really impressed with him during the Tigers trial. If you weren't at the game you didn't see just how hard he was hitting the line when he did commit. He was going full tilt and pushing through while getting his hands free for a potential offload. Watching the replay on TV and it didn't show the intensity of his runs. I was actually blown away by it cause its been years since we have had a half do exactly that. Reminded me of a young Foran.

Hopefully he can come back stronger and quickly too. We all know both preferred halves are injury prone and it'll only be a matter of time before either Metcalf or Volkman are called into action. While I favour Shaun Johnson experience over Metcalf's enthusiasm I would not be surprised to see Metcalf bully his way into a starting spot given the opportunity. The kids hungry and looks to have the ability too. Would be ironic if he did to Shaun Johnson what Shaun Johnson did to Brett Seymour while the latter was injured in 2011...

I was listening to the latest Talking League fantasy podcast. At 19 min one of the hosts said he was talking to a member of Warriors staff in the weekend.
And Metcalf is off to Philadelphia because his hamstring injury is high range

Is that like a Trbojovich, Papenhuyzen thing where the club sent them over?

He didn't say any more than what I posted. Until he plays he's not fantasy relevant.

But my opinion would be yes. I got the impression here he had a good preseason so it would be a worthwhile investment.

Interestingly (and this should prob be transferred to the Metcalf page now mods…) but seems as though you are bang on the money as his Insta shows he was at a Philadelphia Flyers NHL game 6hrs ago. Interesting wee development. Thanks for sharing

Another interesting take out following this hamstring injury, was his declaration in the Warriors Pod is that it’s about the third / fourth time it’s happened! If he was in the NFL he would have been passed over.
Hopefully a specialist can ‘weave’ the magic and put him back together.

Was wondering what his story was about...
