Support/Announcement Large Website Upgrade Coming Soon

Hey guys and gals,

Over the coming weeks, the site will be performing a major upgrade of its platform(Xenforo). The upgrade will have numerous benefits to visitors and members of the site. A whole swag of new features will be added, and with that comes quite a bit of effort in fixing up a few things which will now longer work. As such, can I please request you to post anything not working or behaving as it currently does on this thread.

This site comprises of a number of addons made by developers and some stuff specifically customised for this site. Some of the addons made available and in use right now may not work after the upgrade. As of today/tomorrow some of these features will be removed and posted on here if members will potentially be impacted so you are aware.

This also means that the site may be down for a few mins every few hours whilst work is done to remove or update any customisation.

Now onto the new upcoming features:

• Better security
• Performance Enhancements
• Responsive design for mobile/tablet users
• New Editor. Ability to paste images from other sites, drag and drop images into the editor, ability to make tables by use of the tab key for stats etc.
• Autosave drafts
• Prompts if new messages have been posted since you start composing your post
• New members page (which has previously been hidden)
• Lots of small little improvements to name.

Additionally, You will also notice that as of today, there is a new classifieds section. You are free to make posts in that forum if you are selling, buying, or wanting to trade gear that you feel that the community may be interested in (warriors related or otherwise). If you have a business, or affiliated with a league club or a community cause, please also feel free to post details on there.

As always if you have any suggestions, feel free to make them.

Thanks tahjay, its a real cool site and as a newbie I really enjoy it.
Is there any way to add some emoticon buttons to the posts, ie there is only a Like or reply button.
Some posts are so funny I would like to just post a ROTFL emote rather than hitting the like button.
Or if a post is stink you could have a skunk emote rather than writing a put down post.

So, time to highlight some of the new features! I'll try to make it as easy to interpret as possible:

(Note that the screenshots I've taken on my test site use the default style)

1. Responsive design. Basically, it means the site will be mobile and tablet friendly so that you are easily able to navigate and browse the site. Here is an example/basic idea of what the responsive design will look like:



2. New Editor. Firstly, the current editor lacks functionality, and it is a pain in the proverbial to fix issues with it. 1.2 introduces a new editor which has new major functionality like drag and drop uploading (if you click and drag a picture from your computer), draft functionality (so, as you're typing away you're hopefully useful posts, the content will be saved so if you are creating a post or thread and want to come back to it later, it will be there.), the editor is mobile responsive - so you can actually use an editor to format your posts on a mobile or tablet, smilies also drop down in a panel below rather than the little menu (which can cause issues in various instances). Overall a much cleaner product. Preview:









Keep in mind that the colour and styling may change depending on how we adapt it to the site.

3. New members page. Previously it was hidden and really just listed the members. It is now in a cleaner, tabbed layout focusing on Notable Members. e.g. most likes, most posts, and staff members. There is a block in the sidebar for staff and birthdays:

Yes, there is a very extensive add on which could be used to accomplish. Whether or not tajhay wants to use it for this site in particular is one consideration.

Hi mate, unfortunately(for you) one of the main posting requirements of the site is to avoid 'unnecessary' posts such as that. If everyone did a 'LOL' post, it would just create a pain for everyone to wade through all the crap to find the quality and informative posts that people here have been accustomed to.

As for Smileys(emoticons) you can still use them...click on the smiley button in the editor, but dont post that as a post. Try to think what you are posting is adding value as a contribution.

Another thing to note is that we currently have an add on running which allows you to watch a specific forum or section of the site, and receive email alerts when a new thread is posted. This functionality is now built into the core:






You can choose if you want to get forum alerts, or emails as well as what you want to be notified about - i.e. new threads, or just new posts.

Errr i get what you mean. Initial thoughts are that its not needed but can revisit later on (maybe in a couple of years time )

The private conversations feature has improved. You can now mark conversations or private messages with a star to show they are important. Clicking the 'Starred conversations' link will filter these.

You can now see all the conversations YOU started.

You can now search conversations to try and find one that you created a while ago.

Ended up taking it off as only a couple of ppl used it(you one of them). Other unused functionality provided by addons will also be removed in the coming weeks to streamline the site prior to the up grade.

Great site good people cool posts has everything we Need,i look forward to when the warriors hierarchy give This forum some recognition and let the players have some Q,A sessions or interaction with the fans.its a long shoot I know but I think this site gets more hits than the official site and other previous sites you do a lot for this club time to be recognized.keep up the good work

I've belonged / belong to a whole bunch of sites.

Something is different about this place.

Other sites have some good people too , but you won't always get some of the gritty / or fresh angles at issues you read from people here. There are some seriously knowlegeable folk on here and I'd like to thank them all too for challenging my thinking and all the feedback / especially the constructive criticism you get here.

To use an Elliotism I think it's the way the furniture has been arranged and it's something in the DNA that makes this forum unique.

Seriously I've learnt more about Rugby league here than any other NZ Medium including watching the game / watching the Experts on the Telly , listening to talkback arguments

Lastly I think if you want a sense of the Mood of the common folk around this club then this forum probably reflects the warts and all / different strokes for different folks unique make up o NZ sport than anywhere I've come across.

And anyone who doubt that the NZ Media rip material off some of our posters here I bet if you ran some of the articles through a plagerism programme it would be interesting......rip off is a bit tongue in cheek.....why wouldn't you come here for a sense of what the readership of your News papers etc are thinking / test the pulse etc.....
