Strong looking squad bro.

On availability I‘d expect Rapana, Hamlin-Uele, Charnze Nicoll-Klokstad, Hiku would be also in the mix. Few young tear-aways coming through too in Jordan Riki, Rocco Berry, Starford Toa with strong performances they could find themselves close to squad selection.

Even though we‘re losing players and will likely lose more to Samoa this year our depth continues to grow.

Uele was unavailable this week I thought but he would be in for sure, Definitely those guys in the depth chart and are very close.

I realise this is a round 9 squad thread, but this would be my team for the end of the year based on those who who should be available by then:

1 Charnze Nicoll-Klokstad
2 Bayley Simonsson
3 Reimis Smith
4 Joseph Manu
5 Ken Maumalo
6 Dylan Brown
7 Jahrome Hughes
8 Jesse Bromwich
9 Brandon Smith
10 James Fisher-Harris
11 Joseph Tapine
12 Tohu Harris Harris
13 Isaac Liu

14 Kodi Nikorima
15 Braden Hamlin-Uele
16 Nelson Asofa-Solomona
17 Isaiah Papalii

18 Dallin Watene-Zelezniac
19 Adam Pompey
20 Shaun Johnson
21 Jared Warea-Hargreaves
22 Kenny Bromwich
23 Jordan Riki

And the young guy for experience - Rocco Berry

Possibly a prop short. Does Josh Aloiai have aspirations to play for NZ? Heard he is going to be out for an extended period though.

Hadn't thought of Starford Toa until I read this thread. He is a very good prospect. There's going to be some real competition for the centre/wing spots. I think Dallin Watene-Zelezniak will still be somewhere in the mix despite having an indifferent season so far. The last few years he really stepped up in the Kiwis jersey and was the captain not that long ago.

We always seem to have these kick ass squads then over the course of the season injuries, suspensions and defections kick in and we end up with something totally different.
Was disappointed Jayden sua turned out for Qld last year- I know he had already played australian school boys but chch born.
Always rated him.

Queensland stocks are low at the moment, I can see them trying to turn a few more players their way.

Feel like if the financial incentives were equalized across the board and we played internationals through the Origin period the game would be stronger for it.

The usual talk of allowing non-NSW and QLD qualified players to play Origin resurfaced again a few weeks back when Taumalolo's manager was making enquiries, which he's entitled to do, but the eligibility criteria was firmed up for that exact reason - to allow those who were true NSW or QLD juniors to get a chance to play for their state and the Kangaroos. The Kiwis would cease to exist if the talented teenagers from NZ that get scouted from the age of 13 end up playing Origin for whichever state the NRL club that plucked them out of NZ falls under. Would also do a massive disservice to those who start their professional career playing for the Warriors who would miss out based on that technicality.

Paul Kent was strongly against it on NRL360 and while I don't agree with everything he says I thought he was spot on with his comments about the damage it would have on rep footy.

Am glad Abdo also came out and said the eligibility rules would stand.

I hope all Samoan Tongans and Fijians pick their country over origin. International league would be amazing if more went the way of the Tongans.

Yep, it’s bad enough as it is. I know the NZRL don’t help themselves much but we’ve been a door mat for utilizing resources and spending money on players within our National Junior Rep sides only to have them come out the other end and switch allegiances to a different nation.

I‘d want it so players have to declare their allegiance at 15, if you want to career playing for the Kiwis great, if not find your own development pathway and allow those kids that have an allegiance to NZ a chance to be picked in their National Rep sides to help further their development and career prospects.

It‘s the financial incentive that’s the issue. If players could play games for their country over the Origin period and earn the same as their NSW and QLD counterparts it would even things out considerably.

I just hope we can have crowds back by then. One or two mass spectator events being trialled atm, fingers crossed the vaccine rollout continuing means most people over here are protected

Fingers crossed mate. I've got tickets for the Kiwis - Ireland game at Headingley and the Final. Hotels are booked too.

Hopefully football crowds are back soon properly as well. Don't fancy donating my season ticket for another year :)

Are you UK based or coming here for the tournament?

Brown not too keen on the WC going ahead this year. Can see it from his side, normally I’m a supporter of International football over clubland but would like to see our players get the benefit of an off season this year.

Could see over a dozen of our players involved if it goes ahead.
