Internationals Kiwis vs Kangaroos 2018

Five&Last

Extremely underwhelmed by the Junior Kiwis squad. Considering the names that were listed in the wider training squad.
https://nzrl.co.nz/junior-kiwis-named-for-trans-tasman-triple-header/

Interesting to note that Dean Blore has been selected by the Junior Kiwis whilst younger brother Shawn has been selected by the Junior Kangaroos.
It was very ambitious to include some of those names. The likes of Moses Suli, Pasami Saulo and Tevita Funa are born and bred Aussies. Guys like Oregon Kaufusi and Murray Taulagi were raised in Australia. As soon as saw that team list I knew none of them would turn out for the side. Its like in the past when they've named players like Valentine Holmes and Josh Papalii in the Junior Kiwis hoping that they will pick NZ.

Where's Moeaki Fotuaika and Manase Fainu at?
Also I would've thought guys like Lewis Soosemea, Preston Riki and Cruz Topai Avaei would've made the cut, perhaps injury?

Would've been a very competitive game with that first squad. Looks like it might be a whitewash now.

I’m guessing soosemea is injured, I’m sure he was for a lot of this year.
Moses Suli is a dud, even tho he has NRL experience, hiroti and Harper will both be first graders next year and will both be guns.
Wonder why Dylan brown didn’t get picked, he’s still quite young I think but is probably one of the more promising halves

From what I know, Paul Turner is rated more highly than Dylan Brown. Both played in same age group sides growing up in Northland and Turner was more highly regarded. However, Dean Blore and Chanel Harris-Tavita will be the junior kiwis halves. Dean Blore was thought to have committed to Aus like his brother, similar situation to the Nikorima bros.

Just on Suli, he would’ve been selected ahead of Hiroti and Harper if available. If previous games are anything to go by, the first graders absolutely dominate. That’s why I expect that Vic Radley and co will rip us a new one.

Oh well guess Cordner will be the captain now and a new centre to replace GI.

GI caught mid range drink driving and speeding on a 4 hour drive from Dubbo to NSW today.

Good squad, young squad which is great.

I think we don't have a problem with talent, but its always about character. Thought i'd add a video i recently saw from teddy atlas on the joe rogan. alot of what he says sums up what I think the kiwis lack. when the going gets tough with the kiwis they always find a way to run from the pressure. If Madge can change the attitude and learn to confront resistance which is what we need to do against aussie, is never be afraid. I'm hoping for a successful campaign, really keen to see who has character out of the young kiwi players which will let me know where we are at going ahead.

Jesse Bromwich is waiting for his baby to be born, so hopefully it comes before the test.

NAS and Tetevano were both injured in the GF, as a result there is one spot left in the squad. Sounds like it's out of Bunty and Kaisano to fill the spot.

Any thoughts on how we will line up against AUS?
Hard to pick the team.
Madge is fairly unconventional.
Can Smith play 80?
K Brom really?
Like the look of Hughes when he played for the storm.
Shame I like Whare thought but understand why Manu and Marsters deserve spot.

I'm not sold on Hughes. He is a FB imo.
Need Kodi and Shaun Johnson in the halves I reckon.
Really missing Luke TbH.
Maybe McGuire will go 4 forwards and just try and roll them.

Be surprised if he beat out Isaako or Rapana, both have more strings to their bow than Ken.

But Ken is the only left edge player, the other 4 all play right side.
Rapana is great through the middle.
Isaako can kick goals.
Kens amazing out of the backfield.

Between rapana and isaako for the right edge. Ken should lock the left.

Isaako kicks over 80 percent of his goals.

Johnsons in the seventies.

Isaako must play.

Looks like Oz going to play 3 fullbacks in Holmes Teddy and Turbo as back 3 love to see us power it up with Ken and Rapana running at them.

Good stuff. That’s the side I’d pick. Really hoping Hughes develops into our long term 5/8th.
All in all exciting potential across the park.
