1) Fantastic game. Great advertisement for rugby league. Even though we lost we did the jersey proud.
2) This is the best English team I have ever seen. Someone mentioned the years of Offiah etc, they weren't as good then because they didn't have the dominance up front they enjoy now. We need to realise that we have a real fight on our hands to be number 2 in the world. I do think we would have taken them to the wire with even one or two more of our gun players in the line up.
Very true and good points, also in the right order and really all that matters about this game because we all know everyone will be available for selection for the England tour at the end of the NRL season..

End of year team

1. Roger Tuivasa-Sheck
2. Rapana
3. Whare
4. Masters/Hiku
5. Dallin Watene-Zelezniak
6. Benji
7. Shaun Johnson
8. Jbrom
9. Levi
10. Taupau
11. Tapine
12. Harris
13. Blair

14. Brandon Smith
15. NAS
16. Ah Mau
17. Fisher-Harris

- Rapana is a right wing specialist and Dallin Watene-Zelezniak plays on the left for Penrith, not sure why people always wanna swap them.
-Not sold on Griffin, hes doesn't suit the 2nd phase style we are aiming to play and too slow out of the ruck, much rather Smith/Levi combo.
-Te Maire Martin and Niko were average on both sides of the ball and don't deserve another shot, but our only other option is Benji so what can we do??
- I saw enough there today to suggest we will be competitive if we can get back to full strength for the end of year tests(I hope).

JWH was really good, it was possibly his best game in a Kiwi jersey. But last year plenty of people were saying he should never play for the Kiwis again. So equally we shouldn't give up on Ese'ese after just one game where he played limited minutes.

My post probably doesn't strictly belong in this thread, but just wanted to share I am thoroughly impressed with every member of this web site. I only found it 4 months ago. Everybody is very mature and has a lot of life experience. People are comfortable with others having different views than them, and if anything although I came on to this web site to learn about rugby league I am also learning how to be a better internet message board poster as you all set high standards.
Yes you are right I may have been unfair on that young bloke given he was on debut. That said he had a mare. Let's hope he learns. I felt he overplayed his hand and should have focused more on doing his core role only.

A lot of debate over the last few months about the merit of this game or the amount of issues playing it would cause. Come game time I was keen to put all of that to one side and watch some football.

Kicking the ball out on the full wasn't the best start to showcase the game to new viewers especially if you are promoting the players as the best the sport has. Overall though the game was enjoyable.

The Kiwis it was good to see a side that looks like it had some pace. They went a bit overboard with the offloads. Scored some nice tries though.

The English side weathered the early onslaught of the Kiwis moving the ball around. They looked like they paced themselves a bit more for playing in altitude.

The basics of rugby league still apply such as holding onto possession and playing out your sets. The Kiwis were playing around 60-65% which isn't good enough.

Wouldn't mind seeing Roger Tuivasa-Sheck swap to 6 Dallin Watene-Zelezniak back to fullback for a few plays. Roger's fast feet and stepping ability could open up some holes. Like the side.

I'd like to see an interview with the players where they describe the effects of altitude. That would be really interesting ..

As for the result it was expected but nice to see some depth come through. That was almost a full strength pommie side.

The best indicator will be those that back up for their clubs. There's no doubt there will be effect but whether it means losing a player to injury or losing a match the same can be said of all Rep games..

It time the selfish hypocrisy subsided and the game is genuinely grown outside of Australasia, England and Polynesia. The NRL will play club games in the US soon to be followed by S.O.O. matches, money talks..

yea i agree with this. Eastern europe seen as a hunting ground for hard bastards not long ago. Also there is south america where they cant all like clutching their ankles while having a sook on the ground. And lastly what about South Africa, why has it never taken off there?
