Carlos Tuimavave has been named in an unchanged starting line-up for the Vodafone Junior Warriors’ sudden-death week two NYC final against the Sydney Roosters at ANZ Stadium on Saturday (7.15pm kick-off NZ time).

Tuimavave was forced off the field with an ankle injury in last Sunday’s 38-39 loss to Canberra but it’s hoped he will recover in time to face the Roosters as the Vodafone Junior Warriors bid to stay alive in their quest for a third straight premiership.

While Tuimavave has been included, coach John Ackland has named a seven-man interchange.
Last week’s bench players Trent Bishop, Toka Likiliki, Nathaniel Peteru and Albert Vete have been joined by Omar Slaimankhel, James Taylor and Braxton Stanley.

After five NRL appearances Tuimavave (20) was having his first NYC outing last weekend in almost two months only to have it cut short.

Even without his guiding influence and experience, the reshuffled Vodafone Junior Warriors were able to climb back into the contest against the Raiders despite being well behind for the first 50 minutes of the game.
While they were ultimately denied they contributed significantly to a 14-try, 77-point thriller before being cruelly undone by a last-second field goal.

The Vodafone Junior Warriors’ third defeat in as many visits to Canberra – one of the game’s most difficult road trips – at least came with the consolation of another life this weekend, albeit against a Sydney Roosters side which found a way to win in a manner as astonishing as Canberra’s was.

Where the Raiders recovered from 32-38 to beat the Vodafone Junior Warriors in the final four minutes, the Roosters were down 20-22 in the dying moments when centre Curtis Rona scored the match-winning try, his third of the day. In winning 24-22, the Roosters scored six unconverted tries.

If Tuimavave recovers, he’ll again link up with Mason Lino in the halves, the 18-year-old providing a try and five conversions for a 14-point contribution against Canberra which boosted the rookie’s tally for the year to 142 points.

Centre Ngani Laumape remains the team’s leading try-scorer, his try against the Raiders taking his total to 16 in 19 appearances. Hooker Siliva Havili also scored again, giving him 14 tries in 23 matches this and a career tally of 23 tries in 50 games.

The juniors dont have the dominating size that they had last year, or the the skill of the 2010 team, and i think they will struggle versus the Rooters.....but they have done better this season than i thought they would, and most of the credit must go to Ackland, he has had another successful campaign with far less to work with.

Got to start better that last week think all the defence they did last week killed them.

Hopefully they can do it, a three in a row would be such an amazing acomplishment in a age group comp with the player roster changing alot each year......Does anyone know how Carlos's injury is? Hopefully he's allgood!!

What a load of rubbish . ....

Auckland is the biggest talent pool of Rugby League in the WORLD. .... ask any of the scouts who were at the schools nationals last week.
The day that I went to watch had every club represented...im sure I even seen a perth reds scout.

Everybody bags Bell but in terms of junior recruitment but the warriors sign up a ridicilous amout of talent.
And backlog so much talent.... plus there is also lies tonnes and tonnes of other players who could easily play nyc.

Look at Hiku ....who replaced the injury prone omar.
Next year you will have guys like Honeti tuha and Viliami Kaveinga challenging for fullback spot. Where they would start at any other club easy.

They need to change the NYC coach imo - he needs to do whatever FG or the club need him to do.
develop players not win championships playing dumb footy.

What are you dribbling on about? i said this years team has less size than last years team and less skill than the year before that...i dont care who all these players are that iv'e never heard of or these guys that are fox memorial level at best.

You obviously have an issue with Ackland...did he overlook some of your friends or family? He has gotten results and thats all that matters, and like i said earlier with far less talent
this season going by what we have seen, not by who you believe should be in the team or what position they should be playing. Most Warriors fans dont get to see every junior player thats currently playing in South Auckland, so we have to judge the level of talent available by what we see turn out for the juniors every week, and my point was...i dont think this years team is anywhere near as strong as the previous seasons in terms of ability and or size, but has still managed to have a pretty successful season.

What do you mean look at Hiku? he's a decent player in the 20's, and is passable playing fullback at that level, but he isn't a first grade fullbacks arsehole, and doesn't have half the talent of a Kevin Locke or even Fish for that matter...granted he has more heart than the latter no doubt.

What im a dribbling on - you clearly dont understand that the Warriors have all the talent in the world at their disposal.
It has to do with attitude as much as talent.
Just because you tune in and watch some for their games, you dont get a full snapshot.
I was trying to give you that snapshot. ...

Fox memorial ....some of the jnr warriors cant even make their clubs respective topside.
Toka likiliki might have received a First grade contract but spent half the time playing reserves last year.

In aint just in south auckland ....its all over auckland, with a handful of top talents from around the country.
Remember how the FG cant produce a winger to replace the incredibly average bill tupou...

I can think of at least 7 wingers that would be on the warriors books/radar that would start in NYC everyweek if they were at another club.
David Fusitua
Ngatua Hukatai
Viliami Lolohea
Fine Fainga
Viliami Kaveinga
Honeti Tuha
Alamoti Finau

So is the NYC really such a all-round success? like the clubs trumps it up as - when Bill Tupou and Ivan Penehe are the best wingers we have produced since NYC was started.

Well its easy to blame - Ackland but he is a coach that wants to win and he does win alot. So im not doubt his league knowledge - he has a long history.
However I think he has to do more with the structure and systems in place at the warriors. So certainly there is an issue. Who is responsible - only those from within the warriors know.

I know that because of this - this has major implications of the clubs current woes in FG.
I know alot of the attitudes and nrl readiness of players graduating from nyc isnt where it should be.

I think you will find this will be a major findings in the REPORT for the warriors at the end of season.
Along with the restructure of the Vulcans - who I pick will be re-branded under the warriors brand and get more contract players on a bit more money

As for your statement about "gotten results and that all the matters". I dont give who - what the results are but the development of the players and the quality of football they player.
That clearly is a problem with the club.

Hiku has more heart than both Locke and Fish. He more of a footballer than Fishiahi already.
However he doesnt have the skill or pure talent of locke - but far more humble and hard working and less cheeky than nobby lol
Well he is not a he "isn't a first grade fullbacks arsehole" due to your opinon but in reality he signed a first grade contract with Manly.
He is actually a first grade fullbacks - replacement - albiet to the NSW fullback but will offer cover in the wing position. Yet what winger have the warriors signed to date? none.
These are the type of players we should try and sign - even if its on 2nd tier contract for vulcans.

Why did I use him as an example? because the warriors never even considered him in warriors development. Until he forced his way in.
That means they yet there was still talent outside their view of 80-100 kids they invite to trainings and have their eyes on.

Carlos apart, I don't see the next Ben, Sonny, Kevin or Shaun Johnson in this years crop.

What do mean in Shaun Johnson?
Overhyped, underdeveloped but full of extreme talent lol just joking
It is easy that to say

I think the first couple of years was a little bit different - there was a bottle neck of talent.
The same thing is happening at the warriors junior system now, but probably at a slightly earlier age - so a little less obvious.
16-18 year old etc.

Taukieaho could be a star and I believe can be put in their company.

In terms of wingers - we dont even need a superstar right now. they need an athletic winger, finsiher, with a good heart and a bit of smarts.
Hukatai will develop into a FG winger imo - he has 2 more years
Seems to have a great attitude - though he aint a centre.

If they make Fusitua and Lolohea a bit more smarter players - I wouldnt write them off either. Fusitua still has two more year and lolohea one more.

Also remember Laumape has come of a knee injury - come this time next year he might change your mind about the statement.
He is starting to show signs of why he was rated higher than Konrad by many.

My point is - Dont worry the superstars are there and providing the warriors keep signing them up (or locking them up) by the dozens
They will continue to be at the warriors disposal - they just need to make sure they are developing them correctly.

You are arguing with yourself here mate. Facefacts was talking about the size of the boys not the size of the player pool.

Agree, there's nothing in this years squad thats worth getting excited about (Carlos and Bhana aside), even Havili is looking more and more like a junior grade bullyboy.

I really like Bishop. He gets go forward every time, breaks tackles and can offload. Not the build of a first grade hooker though.

Carlos apart, I don't see the next Ben, Sonny, Kevin or Shaun Johnson in this years crop.

Agree on Carlos - but not at 6. He is a natural center but hasn't, as far as I know, been played there.
He has the talent but looks awkward at 6 and his kicking game is poor.
I like the look of Vete. He would be worth a shot l in the Vulcans.

I think Bishop, Havili, Taukieaho will go far, fingers crossed its for the warriors.

Another i really like is ligi sau, makes great metres, hits hard and has a great offload, pity we lost him to manly though !

Not really,

He alluded the nyc coaching staff not having as quality team - I argued they do have just as talented team/squad, he didnt just mention the size (they are about the same size from last year) but also mentioned the skill level.
They all have skill levels, they just dont play structured football.

Yep Bishop is beast with ball in hand , even more than Havili.
He will be the next Lewis Brown - hopefully they dont

If we increased his fitness levels - He plays good footy in the no. 13 jersey. Like a third prop styled 13 - which many clubs often use.
Even melbourne use guys like hinchcliffe.
Though that is a different style 13 to bhana/lucks etc.

If you watch the games bishop actually spends a bit of time at prop. In the latter parts of the game

Vete - still has another year in 20s
we have other props that should probably take priority in vulcans like Peteru, Atu Tupou and Fotofili.
And the warriors can build some really good depth - just chuck them on part time 2nd tier deals.
It will cost a bit more but they will reaps the benefits imo.

Vete clearly has a great attitude - he has improved heaps.
I seen him play last year for Warriors Development and he was huge and carried plenty of fat.
He looks pretty streamlined these days.

I bagged him when I seen him play first - but credit to him he has worked hard

Yes really.

They aren't as big. There isn't a standout player with the sort of skills previously seen like Shaun Johnson and K Locke. (Carlos could come under this but has been in and out with injuries and first grade). And Ackland has still managed to win again with a team that wouldn't be considered the best NYC team we have produced.

This is all true, you have made it into a massive rant about there needing to be a bit more structure and smarts in the Juniors which no one is disagreeing with by the way. It is fairly obvious that is the case even before the pathetic display last week.
