Staff Jim Doyle

Nobody is reading this thread right now.
It's a rumour Jimi, nothing confirmed. He has been pretty silent recently, and the team has been struggling. As long as he retires on is own terms, instead of because the Warriors are playing like shit.. Hoping he sticks out another season at least personally.

Taylor, I was never a huge fan, but have changed tune a little after seeing him for the Tigers this season. Maybe because he stands due to the team being useless, but I think he would be an upgrade on Thompson. Wouldn't be my ideal player to replace him, but could do a lot worse. Could be value for money if he wants to come home, like has been rumoured.

Anyone heard more about Brenton Lawrence? I'd take him.

From Playdaball on LU

Doyle to retire at the end of the season. Replaced by Cameron George an Aussie admin currently working for the club.

I did wonder why a guy with Cameron George's background would be signed as a number two to Doyle. He did a good job with the Auckland Racing Club so the Warriors would be in capable hands.

Is Doyle going back the NRL or going to golf? My bet would be the NRL.

Raelene Castle is on the market and the club will want league knowledge in the office. If the rumours about JD are correct then the decision has already been made and will have nothing to do with how the team is or has been playing and probably preceded the signing of Cameron George. I wonder who will buy his shares?

Castle is apparently being lined up for Aus Rugby - Fuck that. Doyle could just sit on his shares and have a small involvement in the club. Hopefully..

Lol, in no way shape or form is Cameron George ready to become CEO of the Warriors in 2018!
In three of four year's time maybe. And that's a maybe. In his final Trackside interview, he spoke of wanting to learn from Doyle in a 2IC role.
He's an ambitious guy that might think he's ready but the reality is he is at least a few years away. If he is CEO next year we're in all sorts

What about Raelene Castle, with JD as managing director with oversight of football operations? I cannot see her going to the ARU. That is a poisoned chalice if ever there was. Castle and JD seem to be on very good terms.

Wont lie. I'd be devastated if Jim Doyle left. One because he is as good as it gets when talking about sports administration in Australasia and two because Id see it as a cop out. As far as I'm concerned his job isnt done. Should Stephen Kearney turn out like the last 4 coaches it would only be right but whilst his hand picked coach is still at the wheel Doyle needs to remain at the helm.

Notwithstanding any personal issues he may have...

I agree with all of that. He doesn't seem a quitter to me but the rumours are not just from playdaball, even if that really is Dale Budge.

JD is viewed by many in the game to be good enough to be running the NRL. That would be based on his personal integrity as much as his business acumen. They are hard bastards over there but they like him. Even Phil Gould liked him until he signed Roger Tuivasa-Sheck from under Nick Politis' nose.

The NRL has significant problems. Todd Greenberg was probably only a default selection as CEO because JD wasn't available. Maybe the power brokers have lined JD up for the big job in Sydney. Who knows?

If so that would question JD's loyalty to the Warriors, and the game in NZ. I don't think there can be any doubt about his loyalty to either.

So maybe he has lined up a succession program. He would need to find a replacement CEO, he has Raelene Castle available. He has a good coach in SK. He seems to have support from EW for SK's plans. JD isn't the best choice of talent e.g. Manu and the Foran saga, nobody is perfect after all, so are we going to lose much there?

Would it be the end of the world for the Warriors?...and wouldn't it be great to have somebody intelligent running the NRL?

Agree 100%.

Only heresay at this point and the other chap is brought on as a COO ehich isn't always the best source of CEOs, in fact balanced well they're typically driven by different aspects of the business and don't often transition well.

Worry about smoke when I see a spark (which I acknowledge will probably see me engulfed in flames......).

Hence Raelene Castle?

Jim's a fan, a real league man.

That's how I see him.

One of us.

If he goes early then its a blow on several levels.

What does it say about the Warrior problem if the best administrator we've had, the most personally invested, the most influential in signing and recruitment admits they don't have anymore answers to the problem....

Then who bloody well does.......????

If one was to listen to Dale Budge and Chris Rattue that might be correct. PTB seems sure he is going but to who knows where. I cannot see JD as the type who would leave a job unfinished so the story may be more complicated.

Imagine if JD did leave the Warriors and returned to his previous role at the NZRL with an agenda to strengthen and streamline the development pathways while securing another professional team out of NZ..

yeah right
