Royal is clearly viewed by Scurrah as one of the top 4. Also, Tuimavave is expected to miss the beginning of the season with a neck injury.
Are you sure you've got the right player? A lot of mistakes does not sound like Jesse Royal. He's a good solid player who keeps going forward through the ruck with a nice offload. Nothing over the top, good player.
What would everyone's take be if Greg Eastwood was to sign up also?
I'm not quite sure he's really needed, I still haven't written off Lauaki and I'd like to see more opportunities presented down the line for O'Regan as a ball playing backrower.

Yeah I have mixed emotions. I'd love to see him in a warriors jersey but that would just be greedy. We've already got a surpluss of quality back row options if he was to join it would of nullified the whole Lillyman signing and could possibly push the likes of O'Regan or even Matulino out.
I would be happy if we signed him but he definitely is not needed with our current stocks. I would prefer Eastwood any day over Lauaki.

Indeed...not only is he not needed, he'd be a complete waste of money in a position that is already over-flowing. I wouldn't have him in my backrow over any of our current guys.
And if anybody suggests he can play at 6 then I'm going to...well...do something drastic.
Could we do a Cronulla Sharks and play Eastwood at 5/8 as they have with Bird. Big strong locks with footwork both. I'm not a fan of this but it is an option.
remember when he single handedly tore us a new asshole in 2006 in Auckland? PLAYING WING? We had that game all sealed up then he came off the bench as an emergency winger and tore us apart scoring 2 tries to seal the win for Brisbane. One of his best games to date.

Give me Eastwood over Luaki any day. Can tackle hard, has some ball skillls , and can run into a hole. Has a reputatation as a lazy trainer, but always seems to play OK. I haven't seen enough of O'Regan to compare. I wouldn't imagine a Test player would come cheap though.

Was never a Fan of the Lillyman signing,when we had Fai,Matulino and O'Regan....and Lillyman is too similar to Mannering and Luck

Tuimavave played really well towards the end of last season coming on just before half time hitting the ball up at pace, making some good hits and even popped the odd ball.
He has those phases from time to time but then will lapse back to ordinary for a while.
I wouldn't say he ever plays badly but more often than not he is just reliable and it pi**es me off because he has more to offer.Sometimes you wonder if he feels that making the 17 means he has made it yet other players treat every game like it could be their last and that there is no tomorrow.

i know what you mean, i remember the game against canberra last year where he had a blinder and you saw the potential he had. but to be honest alot of the time he just seems to kind of coast out on the field. he makes tackles and hit ups but from what we have seen he can do alot more.

Yes, they're playing the 20s at North Harbour in the weekend. Apparently they'll be getting some of the Warriors 1st grade squad to bolster their ranks so potentially there'll be Warriors vs Warriors, should be interesting.
The financial issues were mainly because they were paying for the other teams fares and accomodation when travelling to play here, which is something they won't have to do this year. They will hopefully be playing the before the 20s on home games which will raise their profile and keep the fringe Warriors closer to the first grade squad to cover injuries etc.
It's kinda funny how the very next post after TD's was one advocating the possibility of Eastwood at #6... :lol1:
