If enough people had bothered to watch Robson play previously then that would never have been a consideration.
Exactly. People forget that he was only signed as depth. I know there's a few here who cant bring themselves to like Thomas Leuluai but sometimes the biasedness is plain stupid. Tommy shits all over Robson in just about every facet of the game. Only thing I like about Robson is his passing...

I bet if you asked Robson to pick which hand you were holding a coin in he would pick the wrong one!!
Seems to be how he defends as well... He chases dummy runners!!

Having said that. Whilst the Boyd try was entirely Robsons mis read, the Hunt try that ran through him was caused 100% by captain Hoffman picking up the wrong man that Mannering was already covering leaving Robson to cover 2 players outside and a big gap!

Guess we wont have to worry about Jeff Robson carving up now will we...
Like the majority of the side he is to busy being carved up.

He hasn't had the impact organising the side as he has been. Ok not all of that can be placed on him but like the rest of the side any nice plays/touches we see from him is all individual stuff like a dummy and run, or a little run. No team plays etc.

NO WAY! I refuse to believe that and another thing in 2018 Robson will be eligible for the Kiwis 7 jersey and Shaun Johnson can just play 2nd fiddle at 6, no no wait a minute.. I meant Benji, fuck Shaun Johnson.

I'm waiting for Play The Ball to get on here and tell us we are delusional because someone really important told him that Robson is a good tackler

Oh yeah that guy, heard Play With Balls on radiosport with Kent yesterday, it was obvious to me his opinions weren't as strong just to avoid being slain on air

So much agreeance. Its Cappys entire approach to life. He loves a journeyman. Robson coming to the Warriors should have meant Robson playing reserve grade and teaching Ata Hingano and Mason Lino. Certainly not running our first grade team. Unbelievable. Cappys in a hole now. Because unless Robson really blows up badly (he's mediocre at best now though frankly), Cappy won't drop him because its an admittance of error. He doesn't have the nutsack to put Lolohea into the halves, and he doesn't have the coaching ability to fine tune those areas that Lolohea would need to be a complete halfback. Of course, other coaches are quite content to let their halves play halves positions, and coach them. Not Cappy. You can learn all you need to play halfback by catching bombs on the wing.

It's not a lack of nutsack, it's that Lolohea is absolute trash. I'm sick of the hype behind him, saying he's going to be this great half. No. No he's not. Joel fucking Moon was better in the halves. Lolohea is good and running and that's basically it. His passing is average, kicking basically non-existent and don't even get me started on his defence.

I was wrong about Robson fitting in, but Tui is not the answer. He's lucky to be in the team at all.

He brings more than nothing. First halve cant tackle, plus the team had no direction, so y not put tui in?? Can't do any worse.

Because Tui isn't an half and has no kicking game or has the organisational skills to be an 6 Tui at best is either an Fullback or Center. The kiwis tour was an prime example of this even with the monster kiwi pack he looked lost playing halves. Until he is primarly developed as an half in NSW Cup he should not be considered an option for the halves.

For me it's either Tommy or Ata Hingano if you are going to drop Robson two specialist halves can't be playing dudes out of position because there talented.

And you can only pass the ball if you first actually catch it...

I've never seen a half drop the ball - watching it all the way into the hands - so regularly.

I believe I heard that Robson didn't kick the ball on the weekend, correct? Then I have literally no idea what's he's doing in the halves. You can't bag either TL, say they've got no kicking game, as an argument to keep them out of the halves, when the man you're comparing them to DOES. NOT. KICK.

So, once again - doesn't (can't?) kick. Can't catch (and thus really pass). Can't tackle. No running game.

In what way shape or form would either TL be worse?

Hmmm...

Yeah had hoped Robbo would have the attributes to complement the weaker parts of Shaun Johnson's game.

Namely strong defence, unfortunately he's even made Shaun Johnson (that tackle on Ross apart) look the more solid halfback defender of the 2.
A strong kicking game - is it 2 games now he hasnt kicked at all?
A percentage player with a low error rate - some of his passes have been shockers and he's spilled a number of balls....we already had enough drongo's on the books for those sort of errors without importing them.

But most of all my main gripe with him has been at first receiver on our block plays. First receiver sets the tone and needs to play direct, run straight, with the purpose of holding (or delaying just enough) the D line from sliding. But Robson drifts, runs an angle, which means everything is going lateral which is easy picking for the defence. Its really hard to see just what he offers atm.

Never thought i'd be okay seeing Tommy in the halves....but im certainly heading that way.

In Robson's defence he has sent the ball in the right direction for most of our plays.

Unlike the stuff you would see with Nathan Friend and cross eyed Tommy ignoring Johnson and a set back line for one of their clever plays.

The one thing Robson does right is get the ball to the right people at the right time.

The Warriors first Try was brilliant from Robson, he hit the line and committed the defence then quickly shifted to Roger Tuivasa-Sheck on the left.

Robson created that try.

The second attempted try (Manu dots it down, the bunker finds a knock on.....sees Robson in support of the ball carrier on the inside (unused).

The Warriors next Try sees Robson take it to the line and feed Kata in a classic out the back door play.....Kata gets tackled in the left corner.....Robson plays link man in a passing movement amd feeds Vete. who draws more defenders to the middle of the park....an offload from Vete sees the Warriors send the ball to the right hand edge....Lolohea scores a no try...ruled an obstruction .

A Minor role from Robson in that one, but he is using runners that hit the advantage line in a structured way to make space on the edges (organizing).

The next two tries have no involvement from Robson.

The Warriors next Try...is off an out the back play that Robson calls for (you can see him scream out for that back line to set for that play)....it works....Aysford and Lolohea confront the Newy left edge with a two on one....that Try was as much Shaun Johnson as Robson (starting to click)....and the final touch from Ayshford is real quality (He is a great signing).

The Warriors next Try is a simple run around with Robson and Hoffman....Robson shifts left and Manu scores off a Kata pass in the corner.

A concern I had with this side was that we would continue to see Manu's wing ignored....that try gives me more hope than anything the Warriors have constructed this season.

The next Try is Johnson making mokery of our dislike of his lateral play....the one where he drifts across the field till he scores ala Jason Robinson.

Had to laugh at the 70th minute when Robson made a line break in the middle of the field.....looks left then right and gets tackled....that was a certain try gone begging for a back that could be bothered.

For all the Robson critiques....(justifiable) he is not useless at every thing.

His vision is excellent and his passing is fine.

I think he is being targeted a bit. He does what the Warriors need most, work off the ball. He is always aware and appears to have good vision. I thought his 2nd half on Monday was excellent. He is not a worldbeater, but we knew that.

TL has the defence, but I don't know whether he has that same vision and work rate. I would actually prefer TL but I appreciate Robson.
