Imagine if he had Sam Lisones body.. I think that's the role he has basically replaced, but he's 15kgs lighter and plays with heart. Loves a drop ball like our Sammy too.

In the dry conditions against tiring players, he's capable of some decent contributions. I still don't think Kearney uses him correctly though, especially when he has a back or Lawton on the bench. In a slow, wet match, he's better as the sole utility and be used to give Luke a break when he needs one. If he's taking hit ups one of the ruck, we're in for a bad time. The only way he makes metres is jinking and stepping.

Amazing what a dry track, sunshine and forwards going forward can do. This guy may have one or two shortcomings but you certainly can't fault his attitude and commitment.

I'm a fan for that reason alone
That's the thing about the whole bench really. Even the halves. No go forward and the halves go no where and selections like Jazz Tevaga are absolutely pointless. You look back to the first few rounds when we were going really well and you could have players like Tevaga and Sam Cook coming on to add some spark and speed. The upside to Tevaga is he has a huge motor for a little fella and is a complete mongrel who goes about his work like a man possessed.

The flipside is if the line speed isn't there he simply becomes a speed bump and if the team are losing the ruck he gets picked up like a mother holding a baby and driven back.

I'm a big fan of Tevaga and hope to see him fill out a bit more as he develops. The whole NRL should be thankful he's only 92kg and 5'8"...

Warming a lot more to Jazz last couple of weeks (just wasn’t selected in the right position imo).
Can see the guy plays with mongrel and passion still don’t know what position he should be playing though he doesn’t seem to fit any role rightly

Many teams...especially us...carry a running utility hooker.

Hohaia was the best at it.

What has changed is that Kearney likes to have an overlap. Loolooeye and Luke did this for the Kiwis....two play makers at dummy half.

The difference is that Kearney isn't a movie buff "these are not the dummy halfs you are looking for"

Hasn't even seen 'Rudy'......(Stephen there is reason that film doesn't have sequels).

This club thinks we’re being real clever by playing a smaller guy upfront with this “mobile” forward nonsense as if we’ve discovered some loophole, Moneyball type advantage but the truth is he just ends up giving away silly errors and knock ons and has no dummyhalf skills.

The thing is, when they keep him away from hooker, he's actually not so bad. I've been watching him for the purpose of quantifying my Jazz hate with specific examples. Up until they had to put him at hooker, he was having a really good game. The one-two punch with Luke was working a treat and his awkward ass running was surprisingly effective. He's just NOT A FUCKING HOOKER.

Be careful what you write on social media...
He took it well. Some guys would take aim and it up in a flame war.

Agreed Jazz is very effective as a small middle forward. Actually improves as ruck speed and momentum. But as a hooker he is awful. SK needs to stop playing him at hooker immediately. It is clear and obvious for multiple games he suffers there.
If we are going to use a 4 man bench we will need to get used to Tevaga in this role. If anyone else is in the utility or reserve dummy half role Kearney tends to hold them back until the result is decided or Luke is injured. Tevaga at least gets on and we use our full bench.

He isn't used as a specialist dummy half option anymore; more as an emergency if Luke goes off like yesterday. Not ideal but with injuries he could be covering 5 minutes or 75 minutes.

His middle forward role works some weeks better then others.

I think he’s been one of our most in form players. Consistently around 100m and 40+ tackles, with only a few misses.

He brings aggression in the tackle, great attitude and work ethic and is a quick, agile speed that is brought on to face tiring forwards - I think he’s great.

Sure, he’s not a great dummy half passer, but I honestly don’t think that’s his job. He should be an option at hooker, but his impact as a small forward is his role.

People need to stop critiquing his passing. That’s not his job. It’s a job he’s been thrust into, and I think he’s done a pretty decent job considering he’s not a hooker.
