Have to admit I watch it- just don't care who wins- always supported the blues too but can't cheer for any team with tamou in it.
Plus I've spent ten years in Qld and played touch for them so should prob support the Morons but it's all a bit meh to me these days.

Haha yeah fair call - I used to love cheering against the Kiwi-poaching Morons but now the fuckin Blues do it too!
I do enjoy origin as it features some of the top players in an intense series, but I am strongly of the opinion Test footy should become the pinnacle of the game again. It's just convincing the media to spin it that way which is the hard part...
I actually hope the NRL 9s may provide some fun factor and distraction from origin being the be-all and end-all of league as a spectacle for the normally non-league-watching public.

Was only round 1, and they've got new players all over the park. Souths are a settled lineup, wasn't a big surprise that the result ended that way and Maloney wasn't able to do much.

Yes I did, well...I changed my tip to them. Wasn't based on any great belief they'd win, just thought that they could've come out amongst all the hype and put on a strong performance. Especially if the Bunnies started off a little rusty. Didn't happen that way, turns out the Bunnies actually looked pretty good, picked up where they left off last season.

Especially if the Bunnies started off a little rusty. Didn't happen that way, turns out the Bunnies actually looked pretty good, picked up where they left off last season.

Pretty impressed with the way they created overlaps and space out near the fringes. Not particularly well defended there by the Chooks, admittedly, but still some great work with the Souffs ball carrier drawing in two defenders.

James BBQ Maloney was playing for the Sydney Roosters who he won the 2012 Premiership with before winning another Premiership with the Cronulla-Sutherland Sharks in 2016.

Not clear whether he will be going another year but he played the 2022 season with French Elite 1 team FC Lezignan XIII. According to their site he is. This is the team that he was stood down from last season for testing positive to cocaine.
