Born in Palmerston North, raised on a dairy farm, shifted to Tauranga and went to Otumoetai College then finally up to South Auckland.
Only ever played 'park' league but was an age group rep and senior club level hockey player back in the day.
Married with no children - some things even the docs can't fix ..... But we do have two 'stolen' cats who decided they'd rather live with us than next door.
Run my own business in the building industry.
Used to follow that other game but started to find it boring then one day watched a Winfield Cup game on a Friday night and got hooked. Used to follow the Steelers but can't stand St Merge. Then started to follow the Warriors as soon as I heard they'd signed Bell as captain .... may have changed my mind though if I knew more about Plait.
Been a season ticket holder for a number of years.

Two from the same game vs the Roosters semi, Pricey walking around the field during the Juniors game to a standing ovation and Wiki's charge.

Facepalm/Factfacts spending days on VOT trying to convince us that the official name for the games played in Sept/Oct are not the 'finals' but all are known (only it seems by him and the NRL) as the 'semis' including the final game which was actually the Grand Semi, not the Grand Final. I have to say though, the guy was consistent and would not back down.

A distant relative of my father lost a lot of stock back in the 40's with flood in the area. I haven't seen it myself but my father, who was a contracted driver to the council at one stage, spent some time doing some remedial work to one of the stock banks many moons ago.

Yeah, I would imagine that there would have been a massive amount of stock lost between there and the Foxton Loop (apologies if my geography is wrong, I don't know the area too well). Even after the sluice gates were installed there have been cattle lost - about 20 in a recent flood - although that was the farmers fault for not getting the cattle out quick enough.

Your posts are more coherent than many of those who claim a higher level of education.
But yeah you should be able to re-connect with technology, young brains are way more flexible. Better to do it now when you have the time and energy, as you get older you'll get more inflexible. It's pretty important in a modern working environment.

Yeah, tell me about it. I got a "free" laptop from school because of how far ahead I was and yet I felt a bit stupid in comparison to some of my mates who grew up with computers. It get's easier everyday, but I still have to look at the letters I type.

From a Mid Canterbury Canterbury farm, went to Boarding school in Timaru from 13-17, then went to Christchurch Polytech where I got a Diploma in Quantity Surveying (Which is in short a Construction Accountant/Contract Manager).
Followed the missus to Wellington after finishing for a holiday, managed to score a great job with a large Main Contractor. So moved up a couple of years ago and things have worked out primo!
Followed the Warriors since about 2004ish. I enjoy my Cricket, Golf, and play squash to a decent level.

What grade are you Blain? I have a few A1 friends, and recently lived with two A2s - that shit is crazy.

Yeah thats pretty hard out! I'm mid C1, looking at getting to B later this season, so nothing too flash. Such a big jump from grade to grade, you need some pretty decent coaching to get to B1/A2/A1 level.

I never played club (only school and social), hence was never graded, but I would probably be around C2 level. I love squash, it's a great game. Good luck getting to B2, it's a big step!

I had a bit of a different childhood to many in that I was working (acting) from the age of 7. Acting was damn fun and I had a strong reputation in the industry throughout New Zealand but I never quite transitioned through the hazardous few years between when a kid looks like a kid, and when a man looks like a man, so when the work started to dry up, I went and got a real job. Despite what 2man2crush might tell you, I was no superstar, but one ad I filmed in 1993 still drew recognition from people as late as 2004! (Like I said, never looked like a man, haha...)
I never played league - my skinny body would break in half if I was ever tackled, I'm sure - so played with the round ball as a young'un, and I still have a healthy passion for the beautiful game.
I encountered league in 1993/1994 when my father and older brother picked teams. I decided to join in, found out who was topping the table, and took a lazy supporting role.
My first involvement with the Warriors was as a 12 year old, a few weeks before the first match, when I got invited to be part of the opening ceremony. It was a film industry connection that suggested me. So I can say that I played a solo role in the opening ceremony. I'd love to see it, even though I looked like a prat, dressed as a choirboy, lip synching German opera! I remember that it had to look right for TV, so I had an ear piece with the music, because if I'd based my movements off the stadium speakers, the 2 second delay would have made me look really awful, haha...
That was my first match in a corporate box.
I bought my first season ticket in 1999 at 16 years of age, and convinced Dad to join me from 2000 onwards.
In 2006(?), I met Wayne Scurrah, Richard Howarth and co, and I discovered a New Zealand magazine about rugby league. (Fun fact #1: Robster told me about the magazine and encouraged me to send something in.)
I sent in an article and it got published. I was pretty amazed, given I failed English at high school, but I can now proudly say that I've had an article in every issue of SuperLeague Mag (now called Kiwi League) since mid-2006. Writing has been a real thrill, and has given me the opportunity to interview the likes of Stacey Jones and Henry Paul - very proud moments.
In 2007, I got phone pranked by someone claiming to be from Vodafone, saying I'd won a pass to a corporate box at a future Warriors match, and all I had to do was call Warriors head office. I did exactly that, and discovered someone had pulled a fast one on me. I still don't know who it was, but the egg is on them, because Richard Howarth (mentioned above), who was at Vodafone by then, caught wind of the situation, and contacted me to offer me and Mrs Jesbass corporate tickets for a future Warriors match!
That was my last time in a corporate box, lol.
Despite having been brought up in Auckland, I've always had a passion for the country. I only realised after my Dad passed and I went to see the English village that he grew up in why I like the outdoors. So in 2008, with rising house prices as the catalyst, Mrs Jesbass and I found an equilibrium by moving to Tauranga.
In 2009, Sonny Fai passed away. I never actually met him, but I knew there'd be hundreds, if not thousands, of fans wanting to find a way to grieve. I have to stress that what I did wasn't all that much. Mick Treacy in Australia was the one who took a financial risk, and the people who bought the bands were the ones who made it a massive success. I was just convinced that if I could provide the spark, other people would create an inferno, and they did.
A number of great things came out of that, though, like a bit of free merch and attending a RYLA course. In 2010, I got nominated for Young New Zealander Of The Year, and made the top 10, but ultimately missed out to 3 very deserving finalists. (Fun fact #2: Some league folk really don't like Craig Stanaway, but he ran an article on me during the campaign, and he wrote the most epic character reference in support of me for the Young NZer award.)
In 2010, I finally relinquished my season ticket, because we rarely got to games and couldn't justify it financially.
In 2011, I was stoked when the Warriors made the Grand Final, but ultimately resigned to not going because we didn't have anywhere near the funds. A number of Warriors fans, (mostly founders of this forum), decided that wasn't good enough and pitched in enough money to get us over to Sydney. As it turned out, that epic generosity wasn't required as I won a "Biggest Warriors Fan" competition on Radio Sport, meaning the money could be used to help a Christchurch fan have the most epic Grand Final day.
Um, I think that's it.

Started my sports with the old English First Division (in the late 70s) - listening at 9:05AM on a Sunday morning to National Radio (Or Radio 3YA - I lived in Christchurch) as the English guy who read out the scores did his thing. And you could tell by the tone in which he said the second teams' name, whether the second team won, drew or lost.
Also, there was "Big League Soccer", with Brian Moore, on Sunday afternoons.
My shameful, piss-poor excuse for being an Arsenal fan was that I was a wee nipper who's favourite colour was yellow. Which was the colour of Arsenal's away shirt - canary yellow. (Canary yellow?! That's Arsenal Gold, my friend and don't you fxxxin' forget it!) and which must have been the first football game I saw - Arsenal away to Whoever. Could have been the 1979 FA Cup Final, I'm not sure...
Anyhow, the league love began in 1989 with "Aussie League On 2". I supported Canberra because my older brother did and have remained largely faithful ever since (emphasis on "largely" and a broad definition required as in "Pluto is largely as big as Mercury" as I told the Raiders I just needed some space in 1995 and promply kicked 'em out the bedroom, changed the locks, drownded their budgie and the Warriors moved in but the Raiders are my slap and tickle on the side). I've had one-nighters with the Eels and Rabbitohs over the years but nothing relationship-building.
I'm just as much of a hoor with the EPL. Actually, probably worse as I ocassionally have supported Tottenham, but that's stopped since they started getting good and threatening the Arse's right to Top 3.
The first Warriors game I saw was against Canberra at Carlaw Park in late 1994. I went to see the Warriors play St George in 1995 and my sister, brother and I got Season Tickets for the 1996 season. My brother left in 1997, my sister at the end of 2000. I've been the sad sack who's been going for 16 seasons. Guess what my Christmas present is every year?
My worst confession about my faith wavering was watching the Warriors lose to the Gold Coast Chargers in 1998 and literally having my season ticket in my hands ready to rip it up. Insanity prevailed, however. Apart from the usual post-loss rant and rave over the web ("I'll never watch them again!!" etc) I've been strong and in fact, as I've aluded to on other threads, don't (generally) feel the highs and lows as much as I used to. Helps we no longer have a dog. Actually, none of our neighbours do, either. Hmmmmm....
My Dad started coming along in 2004 and has remained strong. We've gone to the last 4 Grand Finals.
