Great that RL has finally got it's s*** together and is starting to plan the international program years a head now like many other sports rather than at the end of the year throwing a couple of pointless tests together.

2009
The 2009 Shield featured the same teams as participated in 2008. In the 2009 fixture, Italy became the first nation to win back-to-back European Shields. As a result they were drafted into the 2009 European Cup, following Russia's withdrawal from that competition. The Czech Republic also reached a milestone, recording their first win in the competition, beating Germany 30 - 4.

It's hard to put a gauge on Wales currently. They more professional players now than at any time in there history.....they have the most domestic clubs now than at any other time in there history.....more schools playing league now than play league in NZ. A new coach, new manager so on and so on.
But you have to remember that they are either drawing professional players from England or from there own pool of players who are far from up to England, NZ or Aus quality.
It's probably best to say that Wales are continuing to improve, England would be trying new players and would have been both rusty and and not playing there A players so you could put this result along side the Kiwis v Tonga match and it will be interesting to see how rusty the Aussies will be because they have had no warm up games.

How good/bad are Wales? I see they only lost 17-10 to England.

Impossible. It get's played at about 6 in the morning NZ time, tomorrow. Are you sure you're not just looking at the dates? It's being played on the 17th of the 10th.

Yeah but that's for NZ and Australian viewers only. If you're outside the site makes you pay unless you can figure out an Australian proxy or something like that. I've heard that all four-nations games will be on justin.tv but I'll believe it when I see it.
