so who would the coach be for next season? Stacey isn't ready and you'd have to go to the market to find a new one. Iro? Well based on the voting above - I can't see him as being an option.
Bearing in mind pre-season for these guys starts in 4-6 weeks... the recruitment process for a new coach could take months... The list of coaches available for a first grade gig is not exactly massive...
Kearney maybe - but we saw how he went with the Eels (yes, granted they have worse off-field issues than us), Elliot? Nope. Toovey? Well he just got shafted by his club that he has been loyal to for 20 years, and there must be a reason behind that.
What experienced decent coach is going to want to come to the shambles that is the warriors at the moment? And if we went with an inexperienced one right now - we'd be in the same boat.
McFadden has the support of the players - which is more than can be said for our two most recent permanent coaching appointments. I'm a pretty harsh critic when it comes to coaches, I think he has made some mistakes, but he's admitted that. Give him another season. 2015 was cruelled by injury.
Tomkins - 13 games,
Shaun Johnson - 18 games, Laumape - 0 games, Fish - 1 game, Henry - 4 games, Leuluai - 10 games,
All of those guys would easily be in our top 17 this season if they were fit. We didn't have the ability to run the same combinations out week in week out. Yes, some of our players weren't up to it for the week in week out grind... BUT - McFadden did the best he could with the players he had.
He wasn't the one on the field missing the tackles...
Now don't get me wrong... if Hasler, Bennett or Bellamy ring up today and say to Doyle - I want to coach the warriors next season... I'll happily say bye bye McFadden... Chances of it happening? Nil.
I am sure he'll be on notice for next season. I just hope he's not given a stupid target like round 6. Because that kind of target really fucks up a season. Round 12 or 15 or 18 is more realistic.
