I bought the whole set for my son last year- heaps cheaper doing it that way.
When I was home recently my mum pulled an old box out that had all my old cards- my pop worked at the bubble game factory so we used to get the whole sets- had the 1991 set- also had cricket, soccer, wrestling.
Also those old all black coins u used to get from shell (?).
It was awesome to see them all again 😂
Caltex I think did them. I had them too would have no idea where they are now but they would be worth a pretty penny now.
I had the superstars of wrestling cards as well.

Yeah caltex that’s right- I have the original great all blacks and the great all black captains- both still in their albums- some were a bit rusty but I reckon they’d clean up ok…

I have an addictive personality so I've collected just about everything to some degree. Rocks, stamps, coins, phonecards, butterflies, shells, matchbox cars, lego, cardboard (NBA, Garbage Pail, Batman, YuGiOh, NRL etc), GI Joe, MOTU, Transformers, Star Wars, WWF, consoles, games, CDs, boom boxes...

I've never been able to get one thing I've fallen in love with then quickly 3,4,5, 200 more. I've always had an obsession with collecting or as my long suffering missus likes to call it, hoarding.

Had every GI Joe from the Real American Range as well as most of the vehicles when they first released. Gave them all away to my younger brothers when I got too old for them. Same as my MOTU collection. Had about 40 of the original drop including the Grayskull castle. Had all the original WWF figures. Same fate. My 3 youngest brothers destroyed them. I was always a careful player when young so they were all in great condition with every accessory. Dont even wanna think about what they would be worth now but we had the best time with them actually playing with the things.

These days I stick to just 2 main hobbies. Warriors and sneakers.

Warriors I've been at it since I bought my first jersey in 2001. At the time it was a serious chunk of my apprentice wage. I've told this story before but it wasn't until 2010 that I went extreme. I would bet $20 on Manu Vatuvei for the first try scorer and every time he won it was exactly the cost of a new season jersey. He won that bet for me so many times that I ran out of 2010 jerseys to buy so I decided to hit Trademe and start getting some of the ones I didnt have from past seasons. From there a monster was born.

I had 330 jerseys last count about a year ago. Ive finally learnt to allow a few to escape the collection so its probably still around that mark. My dream is to get every jersey they have played in. I have about 5 jerseys remaining that I have been chasing for 15 years or since they were released. That's on top of the posters, merch, flags, pins, scarves, hats.

Was blessed I started really early. Old gear was like getting hand me downs so nobody wanted them and I was picking up old jerseys for a lazy 40 bucks. Some of those $40 jerseys these days go for $400-500. Just like 90's toys the old 90's era Warriors stuff has a lot of collectors now so I can't really afford to play the game now.

I have a bit of my collection on Instagram if you wanna have a squiz.

Sneakers I've had a fascination with since I was a child. Hard to escape the Jordan vibe when you grew up in the 90s. The first thing I ever saved up for when I was doing my paper run was a pair of flash sneakers. Have never forgotten that feeling and still get it to this day with I rock a fresh pair. Problem is the resellers have made the game too expensive so my pruchases are few and far between now. I only pay retail. Maybe 5 pairs in the last 3 years. Had a pretty good stack of 260 sneakers at one stage but sold off or gave away 120+ pairs over the last 4 years. For someone who wears steel caps all week and doesn't get out as much I just wasn't wearing them so I cashed out while the market was hyped. I'm down to 100 pairs or so that I just love and cant let go. Another hobby I cant really afford now.

One thing that I've found is that it doesn't matter what you collect, there will be a forum or Facebook group for it. The people I have met through both hobbies have opened up many doors and gained me a few of that rare sort of brother mates that you consider family. Highly recommend joining one and if there isn't one create it...

Do you have part of your house to display your Warriors collection? I hope so, collections should be seen and admired.

My weird hobby is collecting memorabilia of Muhammad Ali's visit to New Zealand in 1979.
It blows my mind that such an iconic human visited here
What kind of stuff have you got?

I might be NZ's biggest hoarder of this stuff
Multiple copies of the program to his fight at Western Springs (one signed)
A couple tickets of the same fight
signed biography
signed dinner invite to his Auckland dinner
signed dinner invite to his Wellington dinner
A scrap book of all the NZ newspaper clippings of his visit (including the Dean Bell article)
some photos an old lady took when stalking him at his Auckland hotel

I'm still looking for some weird bits - ie: the dinner menu for Auckland (sounds silly but looks very cool)
and I'd love to find a poster but not sure that even exists

I can't remember the full story but back when Murray Decker was on Radio Sport there was a cool story about a father and a child meeting Ali. The gist of it was they were in a taxi or the back of a car with Ali and drove off to the Auckland Domain to go for a run with Ali.

I think the caller was the child.

Use to be lightning 4s until they retroed last year. Never thought I would get them but scored a pair for an amazing pair in 2013. Had a great time stunting in those. Now its probably DB4s or black Kaws. New pair of DB4s will set you back about $5k now. New Kaws about $3k. Silly money nowadays but for some reason kids these days love to wear their dads shoes. When I was growing up you wouldn't catch me dead in a pair of my old mans kicks lol...

Have it all in the garage but only display the framed stuff and little knick knacks. I'm not interested in displaying them. Not until I can so properly with UV glass and climate control. My main focus is preserving them for future generations. As collectors we have to think that we are only temporary custodians of these pieces of history. My kids will have fun selling it all one day...
