Rugby World Cup-winning coach Sir Graham Henry will be a familiar sight around the Warriors over the next month providing support for the club's NRL squad and football department.

Sir Graham, who guided the All Blacks to Rugby World Cup success in 2011, spent time at the club for the first time on Monday in a role he agreed to take up several weeks ago.

"I've had an association with Cappy (head coach Andrew McFadden) on a social level for quite a while now. I've got a lot of time for him as a coach and I also really enjoy his company," said Sir Graham.

"We've had some healthy discussions about coaching previously and I'm thrilled to have the chance to be able to work with him, to observe the organisation and to provide some feedback."

McFadden said Sir Graham's arrival was the result of discussions he'd had with managing director Jim Doyle last year about engaging a mentor.

"I've always been open to the idea of having extra support to help me to develop and improve," said McFadden.

"Jim and I have considered a number of options but it was important to take time to find the person who best fitted the position and was available to help.

"In the end we were really fortunate to be able to secure Sir Graham's services. It's a real privilege to have him involved and I know it's going to be hugely beneficial not only for me personally but for the squad as a whole."

Especially pleased about the arrangement is Warriors ambassador and 19th man Sir Peter Leitch.

"It's a special thrill having my good friend Sir Graham helping my favourite club," he said.

"We talked about this the moment Jim and Cappy mentioned the idea of bringing in a mentor. To be fair, you couldn't find a better bloke for the job."

Sir Graham will be at Mount Smart Stadium again tomorrow.

Awesome.

Wasn't Sir Graham Henry the guy who made All Blacks clean their own locker room after every game they played as way of keeping them grounded ? If so he sounds just like sort of man that you would want at your club if you were looking to improve culture of place ! Important changes need to be made .... :)

Graham Henry is just what a lot of us called for. A mentor for Cappy.

Can't see him getting sacked with what seems to be the necessary actions to change the negative aspects of our beloved club.

Wow, now to sign J Bromwich and JWH and Dean Whare and a Fijian winger with lightning pace.

All within the salary cap of course.

Does this mean we can blame the crap Warriors culture on Wayne Barnes, then?

Good call Mr Doyle!

What do you mean, didn't Marc Ellis and John Kirwan bring it with them when they came over?

Nearly fell of my chair with laughter! :)

Its not that hard to win when the only other country that has it as their national game is Wales.

Yeah, not everyone will be happy with his appointment a lot of league lovers have a passionate hatred for Union and anything to do with it.

Stiff shit. The ultimate goal here is success (in whatever form you personally deem it) so if a few get bruised along the way - stiff shit.

As for gets the credit - who cares?

Well said, we have to raise the ceiling on some peoples thinking for the Warriors to move forward, fortunately the most important man in the club is aware of it and is prepared to act on it.

All Blacks have had more scandals than we will ever have...they even beat us to the sleeping pill game. Just cause NZ media tells you the All Blacks shit dont stink doesnt mean you have to believe.
Am all for professionalism but there is more to being professional than getting the media to look the other way.
TV One will probably lead with St Graham saving the drug crazed leaguies.
Well played JD. Smoke and mirrors.

Not sure where else to put this. Anyway...
