Talking to Foran and Marshall would be a good idea. Marshall has really turned his career around from a flashy player to a guy who can use smarts and has improved his game management. Johnson has been hearing about the issues with his game his entire career, from multiple coaches. He probably is working hard on it and like you state he may never reach the heights he could of.Today's "let the haters say what they want" is a bit of a "You'se got what you wanted" comment. There just seems to be a mental block somewhere there for Shaun Johnson, whether born from insecurity or whatever. It must be super hard to always be in the spotlight etc, but you just don't get the Cameron Smith's of the world making these comments. There is a hard edge missing. That hard edge and clarity about the job they go out and do is what separates the greats from the rest.
Part of brand Shaun Johnson is the marketing currency that he gets from social media, but it can't do good things for a bloke. Surely he'd be better off without it.
The pressure of not yet being the player everyone always thought he'd be is getting pretty real. It will be helpful to have the likes of Benji and Foran who have both had to rebuild their careers to give him advice and support him. Hopefully this bump in the road becomes career defining in a good way. I expect him to come back better, he has rarely let the Kiwis jersey down.
Maybe the wrong thread...but on another forum that is usually on the money I saw a comment that the local Tongan Community, including some Churches, are not behind this team and it could affect gate sales this Saturday.
Anybody know how the sales are going?
Well...I finally got a ticket in a block that seems booked out...put my bet on Kiwis 13 plus...see what happensYes as I’ve mentioned in the MMT thread a few ‘leaders’ of the Tongan community have called for people to boycott the hamilton match last week as well as this weeks game vs Kangaroos. It’s been ramped up a bit as they know a huge number of Tongans are in Auckland, it’s also turned political back in Tonga as well as one side is backing the boys the other well, they have the view that these boys are not ‘tongan’ and don’t represent them. Boy were they singing a different tune in the past.
Just need to advertise $2 off KFC vouchers.Maybe the wrong thread...but on another forum that is usually on the money I saw a comment that the local Tongan Community, including some Churches, are not behind this team and it could affect gate sales this Saturday.

They weren't selling for the south stand when I bought so there must have been a very late surge. That augurs well for the occasion to be fair. The Tongans will cheer for the Kiwis before they face their maker in the final game.I have been told ticket sales are now picking up for tomorrow. Still not huge but they are now selling tickets for the south stand. They are hoping for a big walk up crowd.
With the AB's not playing in the RWC final and with the Tongan RL having sorted out their issues this has contributed to the increase sales.
