I was watching the golf live on BBC when Ken Brown did the Fanny comment. It was deliberate, there was a big pause between the first and second parts of his sentence as if he’d just thought of the joke there and then. He’s a cracking commentator and a very funny guy.
On a similar vein, local news programme when I was a kid had the then doyen of TV chefs Fanny Craddock showing the viewers how to make doughnuts. At the end of the piece the anchorman ended the show with the classic, ‘I hope all your doughnuts turn out like fanny’s’
