It is always tough in England. The stadiums are small and the passionate crowds ride the officials terribly. They have Bennett coaching as well but IMO do not have enough depth. If we can beat Australia we can beat England, but I cannot see 3 -0.
I agree with all that apart from the stadium sizes. Elland Road Leeds (Headingley is under part reconstruction atm) holds almost 40,000, Anfield over 50,000. They won’t be full though. Hull is smaller and may be full.

My bad brother. I was meaning the league grounds which of course apart from Hull they won't be playing at.

No rest for the wicked - the boys are off to a boxing session @ Monty's Gym this morning before flying out to England.
Anyone know where they are staying btw? Traditionally tourists used to base themselves at The Queens Hotel in central Leeds (Aussies used to anyhow), occasionally in central Manchester at Piccadilly Gardens.

that effort on saturday has given me some faith for the tour of England

last few years we have looked more than average over there, but loving what Madge is doing with the team so hoping for a series win.

Good win. Not sure I would be carrying on like there is a new dynasty forming though.

we played very well

the Kangaroos played fairly poorly

we won by 2

Its our first win since......

One game, one win. Nice but lets see a few more performances before crowning us world champs
We will know by the end of the England Tour.

This English side at home would rape that Kangaroos rebuild team.

I was very impressed with the way England absorbed the pressure in Denver and wiped the Kiwis with the floor.

England have the best forward pack in the World - they took that tag off the Tongans in the world cup, and Englands forwards are no Johnny come lately, they have been the most rugged pack on the planet for years and years.

The thing about the kiwis after last week is that they will not fear Australia at all when they next meet, especially if New Zealand can propel themselves ahead of the English.

My kiwis squad for the 1st test

Not much to change to be honest but might suggest some minor adjustments to see what people think. Unfortunately i dont see isaako making the squad barring injury and even hughes. Minor adjustments for mine in the forwards

1.Dallin Watene-Zelezniak (c)
2.rapana
3.manu
4.marsters
5.maumalo
6.johnson
7.nikorima
8.jwh
9.smith
10.j bromich
11.proctor
12.fischer harris
13. Liu

14. K bromich
15. Taupau
16. Paasi
17. Tapine

Blair not really doing much in my opinion

Paasi may have just abit more venom than ah mau but either way i dont mind

Fischer harris to the edge liu to the middle. Put tapine on then push fischer to lock. Need our edges to be real dangerous liu is a little pedestrian but solid no doubt.

Really wish k bromich wasnt there but he seems the only logical choice for the role we need.

How good is it to see a coach use a proper forward rotation system. It seems years after watching cappy then sk stuff up the interchange on a weekly basis to seeing some common sense subbing.

To be honest im just trying to create some dialogue while we wait a week and a half but would be just as happy with the same 17 from the kangaroos test

I thought Blair was really good for us. Controlled the ruck well , very aggressive D.
I would leave the team as is.
Maybe whare for marsters.

I don't know about that. That is a good Kangaroo side and Tonga will learn that on Saturday. I see PaddyPower are giving the Tongans 12 points which is pretty tight. With guys like Lolohea in the side I would give them 40.

The Super League is an inferior competition but they have enough players from the NRL to beef up their team. If the test was at MSS I would give the English 20 points, but not over there.

The English have always been very physical. They are tough working class lads who will not back down in the physical stuff. They always grow a leg at home and Bennett is a master coach. The goal lines are more shallow and they will probably handle that better than our halves.

What they don't have is a lot of experience with NRL intensity and I cannot think of any of their NRL players who made the finals apart from the Burgess brothers. If Madge gets the Kiwis playing with the discipline and intensity of last week they will win the series but I cannot see a clean sweep. I think the English will win one.

Whare was part of the wider squad but didn’t make the squad to tour the UK.

Tapine will be short of a gallop.

Any idea if we'll be playing any midweek games?

On the NZRL website they have the 17 that played the Kangaroos plus Tapine, Papali'i, Hughes, Beale, Hiku and Isaako. Seems to me we have too many outside backs and a lack of injury cover for hooker. Thomas Leuluai is match fit...
