How good was Eiden Ackland. Great vision and determination from the guy and is still 17. Needs to bulk up but he's got a good future ahead of him if he keeps developing as he is. Gotta be happy with that hattrick. Hope his shift to the halves over Erin Clark is more permanent. Needs to be playing there week in week out.

And for those in the game day chatter thread that were wondering he is indeed John Ackland's son...

Excited to see the juniors this weekend. Some future guns I'll be keeping an eye on.

Mainly Chanel Harris-Tavita. Wasnt a team in the NRL that didnt want to sign the kid. Still only 18.

Im a fan of Eiden Ackland and reckon he will only get better and better. Has the skills, talent and most importantly the heart. Just needs the bulk...

The one bright light for the U20's this year has been Aiden Ackland out of dummy half, the kids got heart and a footy brain two commodities we desperately need at the club, there's apparently no room for him in the halves so I hope it's not the last we see of him with Sheldon Rogers reportedly signed.

Eiden Ackland doesn't normally play the full 80 so they will likely share the hooking duties

One of the stand out players in the Fox this year ... Eiden Ackland. I wonder if any clubs are looking at him? Yes, he’s small but has ticker.

Is he John Ackland's son? Used to play in the same team as Nathan Cleary? John didn't seem too impressed with the Warriors development from a comment he said about them all playing for Point Chev.

Yes, used to play Warriors 20s.
Same Mt Albert team as Nathan Cleary with Shane Cooper’s boy, John Ropati’s boy plus others.

Eiden Ackland is back at Mt Albert after playing at Blacktown ( Manly reserves).
Look for him to dedicate himself to life after football - lawyer.
I didn’t realise that his Dad was now not coaching Papakura.

Good to see Eiden Ackland playing for Ponsonby u85kg rugby team, The Hustlers, this afternoon in their semi final vs Eden.
The ARL should have created an open age restricted post season comp. They could have got a lot of the rugby u85kg players, many of whom have RL backgrounds or want to try RL.

Was always a fan of Ackland but he was just too damn small and had trouble bulking up. Has the smarts though and can control a game. Watched him a bit at Mt Albert and he was holding his own there. Pretty sure he was meant to turn out for Manly before covid hit.

Solomon is a good talent. Already posted on him but spent a couple years i the Cowboys system when he was signed as a 16yo. Massive kid and needs to watch his weight. Its actually his size that is his best feature but playing some decent footy over in Townsville means he knows how to use it. Grew up with his father and he was just one of those natural talents that could play any sport and well. Outside chance IMO but the opportunity is there for him...

Son of former Warriors assistant coach, U20s head coach and recruitment officer John Ackland.

Eiden Ackland played in the Warriors U20s team from 2016-2018. Signed as a 17 year old after being spotted by Nigel Rattray while playing for Mt Albert restricted. Ackland was 67kgs at the time.

Ackland played for Mt Albert Lions after his time at the Warriors.

In November 2021, Ackland signed a train and trial contract with the Manly-Warrigah Sea Eagles and played for their feeder team Blacktown Workers Sea Eagles until June 2022. Ackland played for the Akarana Falcons which won the 2022 NZRL National Premiership season. Eiden Ackland took out the George Rainey Medal for SAS Fox Memorial Premiership Player of the Year at the end 2022.

In February 2023, Ackland was named to play in the first trial game against the Wests Tigers at Mt Smart Stadium.

Ackland is working in commercial law after studying law at Auckland University since 2015...

Would love to see him play well, he was always a good, calm decision maker when I saw him play in the U20s. Admittedly did look small but so did Thurston at the same age.

And before the ‘clever’ folks jump on - no I’m not suggesting he’s in the same realm as JT….

I did think there’s merit in exploring his capability and fit further though, I have a feeling he could be a game manager type.
