General Dragons Tail Draft - Game Thread - Begins Dec 26th

Wizards Rage you have

Going once twice
Second three times
Third three times
Fourth no times
Fifth once
Sixth twice
Seventh no times
Eighth four times
Nineth three times

Fizurg you have got going

Once twice
Second once
Third once
Fourth twice
Fifth four times
Sixth five times
Seventh twice
Eighth no times
Ninth once

So that's at least the first three out of whack.

If you want help with a random draw let me know.

It’s mostly from the randomiser so it will be uneven distribution
I can’t accept your offer of help as you are not neutral

I think we have to go with Plan A. Its the only way each person would select at each position in the draft.

While it does seem that the player who is furthest down the list would be at a disadvantage by choosing the categories later, it means they can cherry pick the player for the position they need.. whereas the player at the bottom of the draft in the last round will specifically need a winger or a prop and will potentially have f all to choose from.
It's all well and good having Johnathan Thurston as your first pick, but you're screwed if in the last round you have to choose between Siliva Havili and Elijah Taylor as your Hooker

If there was money on the line or it was a season long fantasy game, I would agree we need another method, but it's just a fun summer game between league nerds. ;);)
I'll volunteer to go last if that helps

My only thoughts are that it would make sense for each player to have 2 turns at each position - 9 players & 18 rounds, so easy enough. Also perhaps for round 1, for picks 2-9 run it in the reverse of the order of when players get to set the rule & pick first, just helps balance things up a little bit.

I just don't know how to do that fairly and randomly
For example say I give everyone 2 turns in each position - then we are asking me to manually jimmy the drafting orders each round. That lacks randomness and introduces unconscious bias or accusations of unconscious bias towards me. To further illustrate if I give Mr Brownstone
Round 1 - 7th
Round 2 - 5th
Round 3 - 9th
Round 4 - 8th
Round 5 - 2nd
Round 6 - 3rd
Round 7 - 1st
Round 8 - 4th
Round 9 - 6th

You can see that I have manually given you an even mix of all the positions in the first 9 rounds but your first 4 picks are low picks, while you second 5 picks are much better.

The problem is even though my above example is extreme there will be shades of it where some contestants get a better draw than others in terms of which rounds they get their high picks and it isn't a fair process if I decided that with my mind instead of the randomizer. I may have deep subconscious biases or favouring towards some contestants and that could subtly influence me to be kinder or harsher. Eg,. I am highly likely to give a harder draw to people I like and know than to strangers to me.

There are some solutions to my above methodological dilemmas that David M messaged me with - but
a) I think the current draft order is a B as opposed to a C or D of an F
b) I bought a new spa pool so I want to go out and try it out tonight :) :) :)

Oh good catch BillySpleen
Would you or someone else be able to suggest better links we can use as sources of truth to settle disputes about whether eligible or not ?
The link you posted above ?

Would all 9 contestants be able to dip into the thread and check in with a hello or some such post before the start on Dec 26th?
