Probably we are coming at this from the wrong direction, Putin and Xi are clear logical thinkers, their goals may not align with ours but they follow a far more logical path.

A clear sign of this is NATO and the merkins saying to Russia they should de escalate to reduce tensions, yet they are pouring arms into Ukraine.Seems de escalation only goes one way.

Rick Wilson, a long time former Republican strategist, and one who woke up to Trump long ago says the threats to take action against the Jan 6 committee members are real.

He says if the GOP win the mid terms in November the country will be a one party authoritarian state, with possibly Jim Jordan as house speaker. They will try and impeach Biden, and in any case bunt anything he wants to do.

He doubts the Democrats have the leadership to respond.

A lot happening in Trump world this week.

First he offered to pardon the Jan 6 rioters.

Then he asks everybody to have massive protests if he is indicted.

A hint to the loonies who believe violence is justified, and therefore a warning to all the prosecutors and worse, potential grand jury members.

He calls the prosecutors racist and corrupt.

He is sounding desperate...here is maybe why:

He is full on broke.

He cannot afford his current and looming legal fees. He has got the GOP to pay his bills for him.

He has about US$90 million in the bank right now.

He has many millions in assets as well.

The assets are mortgaged, possibly way beyond their value. All his businesses are losing money badly. No lenders want to know him.

He has to repay about US$300 million in a year or two.

He is facing over US$100 million in fines from New York for tax evasion.

He is facing bankruptcy.

He has 100s of millions in campaign donations. They can only be used for campaign finance. So the GOP pay his legal bills, and he will give his campaign fund to them later.
