General Des Hasler

Nobody is reading this thread right now.
Hasler is a great coach.
5 grand finals in the past 11 years.
2nd best coach in the league.
He's managed to get the best out of plenty of kiwi players. He would be fine at our club. But he won't come, we'll stick with SK.
He'll get another job somewhere else. He's a tireless worker who made the tough decision to let Reynolds leave and forced Graham out, which upset the fan base.
He tried to change the Dogs culture, which faced opposition once his CEO was pushed out and he lost his ally in the club.
Yep once Castle was punted it was always going to end in tears for Des. I wish we have same lack of success the Dogs have had for the last
6 years

Kearney has done his apprenticeship, the hard part 4him is to sack a few players who've lagged the team behind, no more mental islander excuse, shove it up them or shove 'em out.

I have a dream that one day players at the warriors will not be judged by the country of their ancestors, but by their ability to complete a tackle.
Sorry but their mental toughness of endurance is questionable.

And that is why the warriors will never be in the finals. Hire players with physical & mental toughness and the endurance to not go to 'sleep' or go dumb.

Hasler - Consultant to Webby!
For sure, he has taken Manly from second-last to finals footy twice, took him two years the first time around and one year the second time- imagine if he could rub some of that off onto Webster.

I suppose that is probably part of McFaddens job but.. 2 1/2 years of Head Coach experience and no finals appearances < 18 years of Head Coach experience and 14 finals appearances.

*Surely Manly has worse admin than ours right? Imagine looking at Des Hasler and going, "you know what, I want Anthony Seibold"

The Titans should hire Des once they fire Holbrook, and while they are at it forgive DCE and bring him to the GC for real this time.

With Foran, DCE and Des back together again they may as well rebrand the Team.

Can't take the name Sea Eagles obviously so maybe call them the "Sea Gulls"? I have taken the liberty of mocking up what their logo could look like. /s

Replace GC with Christchurch and there's the new expansion club. I had a dream Manly got booted from the nrl and relocated to the Aranui Eagles with DCE and Des, we're the Silvertails now.

Hasler seems like a coach that gets results but chaos or drama seems to go along with his tenure at a club.

His first stint was him trying to get out to get to his new deal at the Bulldogs and leaving a lot of back-ended contracts. I can't recall how things fell apart at the Bulldogs but he left their cap in a bad state as well. This tenure at Manly seems to be more issues between himself and management.

The issues with the rainbow jersey were more between management and the players. He seemed to be stuck in the middle of that miscommunication. He did well to try and smooth things over. Then it comes back as a reason for not making his targets.

Will clubs want to take him on?
Results and being able to turn a club around on the field he should be in demand.
Keeping your salary cap in order and your club stable might mean some clubs think again.

If only all this happened before we signed webster and cappy.. any chance we can reneg on their deals 😉

Des has always been high maintenance, which is ok as long as he gets the results.
His main advantage was being able to attract good players. I think those days, and the results, are gone and just mean he is high maintenance.
Just gotta say, and for those who can remember back that far, he was one hell of a player too.

Have to love the replacement they have lined up too - Seibold - unless he was playing possum during his time as an expert with nrl.com every single thing he said on his segments was basic bitch stuff, no real insight

Seriously?
The GC has a population of 600000 plus and keeps growing. I think it’s the fastest growing city in Australia.
GC has a good RL community with a good base extending right down into the Northern Rivers ie Tweed Heads Murwullimbah Mullumbimby Byron Bay Lismore Grafton. It’s a big catchment.
Christchurch is a rugby union town and what’s its population lot lower than 600000 and other support towns of any size Ashburton Timaru.
Come on man.
