Yes - especially if the Dogs and subsidize his salary.

He's still young, but comes with a lot of experience both in NRL and Test footy.

He hasn't been playing his best footy of late, but you never know what a new environment could do, let alone for his home-town team.

It all comes down to pricing.

What's he on at the Dogs, 7-800k?

Ken's was probably on max 400k, and I wouldn't want to pay a penny over that. 300-350k would be desirable with Dogs paying the other half.

We need a captain next year and he is an obvious candidate at a club where there are very few if any suitable candidates.

He is articulate, intelligent, a genuine footballer, comes with the Mana of the Captaincy of the National team.

An obvious guy to lead the younguns and take care of the Warriors off field obligations.

Well respected by NRL media, a clean living straight up person in a similar mould to Roger Tuivasa-Sheck but a bit more rounded as a communicator.

Trading Ken Maumalo for Dallin Watene-Zelezniak would be an amazing trade.

I am guessing that we will be in the market for a fair contract but a massive reduction in price to what he is on.

We all want smart Wingers who are fast, can read the play, can field attacking kicks and can go the length of the field and tackle.

He has it all.

Seems too good to be true to be honest.

I see a lot of people are fooled by Dogs players. They are like the SK Warriors, no one scoring any trys, low on confidence, no spine to set up players like Hoppa and Dallin Watene-Zelezniak.

Montoya and Rhemus Smith both shone as soon as they got away from the dead Dogs spine problems.

Dallin Watene-Zelezniak is way better than both those guys.

Like I say though, I will believe it when I see it, he could earn a lot of money in the ESL.

40-0 thats pretty emphatic. We know we're onto a good thing here with the guys in control of building our squad. And we'll happily assume they will sign him for an amount that they are happy with.

"Meanwhile, the Warriors are waiting to hear back from Canterbury if they will release former New Zealand captain Dallin Watene-Zelezniak as a replacement for Ken Maumalo, who has joined Wests Tigers."

You could construe this to mean that the Warriors and Dallin have agreed to terms and now waiting on Canterbury to agree to their end.

Haggling over how much bulldogs will subsidise his contract for this year and next. The more patient we are, the better it will be for us.
The Bulldogs will entertain keeping him at wing themselves.
Next year they will need to pay $400,000 to us and then pay say $350 to 400k to another winger who won't be as good, most likely as Dallin. Or they can just pay $850K to Dallin.
Common sense should prevail that they dump him to us. But they will be discussing keeping him given the large numbers involved.
I am glad you made your post as was thinking the delay meant the deal was going cold and Bulldogs had rejected our initial submission for a subsidy. Bulldogs and Wests couldn't come to terms so suggests dogs are driving a hard bargain. Or wanting to drive a hard bargain.

They’ve got Addo Carr coming next season and Cotric on the other wing. That’s roughly 2 million on three wingers. They will be desperate to offload him.

Dallin may also take a small pay cut if he wants out of the doggies. Example He drops to 750k the doggies chip. In 300k and we pay 450k. This frees up 550k for the dogs, they currently play a young winger who wouldn't command big salary so this may free up a good chunk

Some interesting quotes from afoa , seems keen on Dallin Watene-Zelezniak

And some good ones from Walsh about Dallin Watene-Zelezniak too
