Chanel Harris-Tavita versus a selection of number 6’s across the competition. Red highlights if their stats are worse than Chanel Harris-Tavita; green if they are better

Chanel Harris-Tavita 7 games - 0 tries; 3 try assists; average 62m; 88% tackles; tackle breaks 0.9; line breaks 0

Old man Foran - 8 games - 2 tries; 4 try assists; average 93m; 88% tackles; tackle break 2.6; line breaks 0.3 - better in every area

Matt Moylan - 8 games - 1 try; 4 try assists; average 80m; 80% tackles; tackle break 1.9; line breaks 0.1 - better in every area except defending

Luai - 8 games - 3 tries; 5 try assists; average 60m; 86% tackles; tackle break 2.4; line breaks 0.4 - clearly better at attacking

Sam Walker - 8 games; 2 tries; 3 try assists; average 81m; 81% tackles; tackle break 3; line breaks 0.5. Better in every area except defending.

Chanel Harris-Tavita is a marginally better defender than most other 6’s. But he’s way below par on attack which is the whole point of a half. He’s not a 6.
Why don't you put 40/20s in? We won a game on the back of a 40/20 Chanel Harris-Tavita done. Very hard to be objective if all the data isn't there.

Well let’s begin judging our halves after a few more games however once again I think you are getting way ahead of reality on Chanel Harris-Tavita. I don’t think he’s even approaching an average half in the comp at this point, not even close. He’s had about as many attacking stats this season as an elite half can produce in less than 80 minutes. Let’s hope he continues to improve and develop into a quality spine player - however I honestly think your views (and you aren’t alone) on Chanel Harris-Tavita are possibly even more absurd at this point than the subject of this thread.
Yes Chanel Harris-Tavita has a lot of room for growth offensively but a lot of people are not taking into account his defense and i dont know why. Hes growing on offense but is already a great defender, maybe the best or one of the best 6s at it in the comp and that has to count for something. I feel he is far underestimated as evidenced by this thread.

I get what you are saying but i think if you swapped Chanel Harris-Tavita into those teams and their structures he would look a lot better. Keep in mind the warriors are one of the worst attacking teams in the comps.

Just look at what Sean O'Sullivan looked like when he was filling in for cleary, he looked way better than when he was steering our dumpster fire around.

His performance was a breath of fresh air tbh.

Played like someone not burdened with structure (no surprise as he's only been here 5 minutes)......and tbh i have question marks over Stacey's attacking structure anyway.

Some great eyes up plays, surprise surprise (for a Kiwi) looks like he has a big boot on him, had a dig....lot to like,

Could be bought back to earth pretty quick of course up against much tougher opponents like the Sharks.....but as far as first up performances go.....i liked it.

Asi and Metcalf have that it factor you are born with and cant train, i see it in Walsh too, just natural attacking ability, what we used to be known for back in the day when jungle ball was used to describe the Warriors.

What really impressed me was his defense. He saved a couple of tries easily. The fact that he's a big body for a half helps. I hope he kicks on & becomes our regular 6. He will only get better with more game time & experience. I just hope we don't turn him into a utility like a lot of our other halves & persist with him so he can build combos etc

Hes had 6 games as 5/8th and aside from Tries hes close to Sam Walker with 8 games.

So how about we count how many tries Chanel Harris-Tavita has saved on defense instead of scored? Hes put some truly huge men into dazed and confused mode this year. But this is one example of a try saver

I like that he took his chance, so many players dont do that. Like Egan playing conservative for 3 years.

I think if Chanel Harris-Tavita signs, Asi will become an integral part of our RG team, alongside Volkman, both of them pushing for a FG spot.

Id like to have a crack at Arthars for centre to go with Dallin Watene-Zelezniak, which gives Asi 2 roles to cover in FG. Which is the entire point of trialing him and signing Volkman,

Hopefully at some point during the rest of the year Shaun Johnson has a few games off and we get to see Volkman and Asi together.

We need a 4th half so it would make sense to keep Asi on instead of replacing him with another nobody, give him a full preseason to gel with the boys, would be a good back up imo
