Fuck. I knew it. It was just a matter of time really. Here we go. It's started the moment Marlborough got it's first case. Now Christchurch. Bloody hell.

It's two weeks since I had my second jab today. So I'm totally vaccinated.

I loved this post because of the last sentence not the rest of it.

We can get booster shots over here, generally if you are in a higher risk category., but I'm not getting one.

I'm not getting one as I have no underling health issues I'm aware of.

And at what point does a booster become a 5th booster, having to continually getting a booster, that's a real concern for me.

Christmas freedom is about 2400 jabs a day away for Waikato

If Waikato residents want summer BBQs with friends, concerts, and Christmas with family, then just under 2400 people a day need to get their Covid-19 vaccine.

Waikato, like the rest of the country, is working towards the 90 per cent fully vaccinated target to enjoy more summer freedom.

And the woman behind Waikato DHB’s vaccine roll-out is confident that can happen.

“We are so close. I am saying yes, we can reach it,” Covid vaccine programme lead Maree Munro said.

“Is it going to be easy? No. It's actually going to be quite hard to do that, and we have to take every vaccination we can.”

Mine’s due at the end of November, six months since my second jab. Reading the evidence of this boosting your failing immunity, I’m going to take it. Might as well keep up to date. Going to get the flu jab as well for a full house

I have said a few times I am the same, I will follow the science.

I suspect we are only about a year away from another really big break through, it took a year to make the big break through on first Gen vaccines.

So I figure I may only need this booster plus one more.

I know there are over one hundred vaccines being developed, and this first tranche are only the very tip of the spear.

Also there are literally dozens of pills in development and the nasal spray vaccines.

Molnupirivir is a big break through, give that a year to hit serious production numbers.

The Pfizer antibody pill is about six months away, another really big break through.

But the main motivation for keeping on top of my boosters, is that people do so with FLu, we are used to that, and this is worse than Flu.

To me the most promising news we have had this pandemic is the so called super immunity gained from covid infection plus vaccine.

I figure if this is how it works out for New Zealanders, that I might never need another shot again, therefore I want to do this, while I have maximum protection from the virus while I am exposed to it.

I can understand about getting a booster, but when does it stop.

Will we get called up like last time or just rock on in and ask for a shot? I see the daily numbers are dropping off now, could they start boosters to take up the capacity?

Assuming the magic 90 has been reached by early December and we let her rip, there's going to be a large number of people who will have reduced immunity, mistakenly believing they are bullet proof.

Is this a concern science wise?

Because I really doubt he is in touch with Maori and Pacific communities with the worst health outcomes statistically that rampant spread of the virus will impact the most.

Ōtorohanga Mayor Max Baxter has posted a message on Facebook confirming another positive Covid case in the Waikato town.

"FYI, There is confirmation that there is a further positive case of Covid-19 in our community.

Overall, Canterbury now leads the South Island in vaccination rates with Southern DHB only just behind at 88 per cent, followed by Nelson/Marlborough on 86 per cent, and South Canterbury on 85 per cent.


I dispute that as Dunedin is lumped in with Southland, and Dunedin has a high vaccination rate and Southland is pulling it down being part of the Southern group.

It certainly seems to be of some concern for older people and people with co morbidities, if they come into contact with someone infected who is unvaccinated the risk rises further still.

I am starting to get a little nervous about our preparedness for the next steps.

With Children, I think it is entirely appropriate to wait as long as we can afford too, however I have concerns about our readiness there if it turns out to be the right decision to vaccinate.

At the moment I am on the fence about vaccinating little kids, even though I agree with the principle, I have some questions I want answered by real world use of the Pfizer shot in other countries first.

Hipkins said they were ready to roll out boosters yesterday at the presser. They were waiting on approval to do so from the MoH.
Assume it will be the same system as the current vaccine - if your registered with a DHB/have a health number you will be contacted.
Alternatively if you are concerned, be proactive and book it in yourself once it is announced to do so.
