Hahaha Bruce. A little jerk in your opinion but you know absolutely nothing about him except for no named journalists.
I rest my case 😌.
Not really a fair summary. 😕
ok Alexei...

He was appointed to spin doctor for the Minister of Health🤔
His very small department doesn't actually do anything except act as a think tank for the Ministry  ...how did that go...just asking like?
He has no administrative authority, the health boards are independent of him.
Part of his exhaustive selection process was ability to handle the media...e,g, endless hours of interviewing by a former RADIO NZ interviewer Kim Hill.
I know the guy who appointed him. This dude is a class A bureaucrat with all that entails...meaning a very smooth talking...arsehole...birds of a feather flock together.

Now to add some perspective to this, I refer to some history...

Spin doctors are now part of the scenery.

A few years back the RTA appointed an "expert" Merkin to front the media on their behalf.
Now to be fair, nobody actually said he was qualified at anything, he just spoke like he knew what he was talking about. His title was something like roads manager of something, no mention of spokesman or PR...like..

I thought he was a traffic engineer. I am sure many thought the same. On a level of 1 to 10 of arrogance...he was 15.

Then one day in a live on air TV interview with the head of the Taxi Federation, when he was as usual being an arrogant know it all prick, the Taxi Federation guy fired a bazooka...
He said...many people think (dude's name) is a highly qualified expert on road safety...in fact he is just a PR consultant from Merka...:oops:... the dude went silent.
I don't think he has been heard from since.

To quote my friend Bruce Bayliss...talk about laugh Trev.🤣🤣🤣🤣

Example number two

The NZQA another terrible den of viper venom in Wellington decided they needed an expert spin doctor.

So who did they choose?

A teacher, an education lecturer? nah...they employed a female Wellington veterinary surgeon who used to go on TV a bit. WTF🤣🤣🤣.
Now she was quite attractive, and a very good speaker, but there is no connection between education and looking up a dogs arse. She knew sweet fark all as they say, and she was the go to expert for the NZQA🤔. To be fair one could argue there are no experts in the NZQA, but I digress.

Anyway one year, as often happened, there had been a stuff up with national exam papers. This has been happening for years, but this was a clanger.

They got her on TV, and the interviewer was 150% schooled up.

The spin doctor vet started to be a smart arse, playing on words, carrying on like a Merkin GOP congresswoman...if you get my point ladies and jellybeans.

She has never been heard from again either.

So thank you for bearing ith me ladies and jellybeans but John Nick did ask...so I summarise...again

The good little doctor is just a PR spin doctor, placed there for the very purpose of misleading the public...that is a fact.

I also understand, based on good information he is a control freak and very unpopular.

have a good day

Thanks Mr Bayliss for your opinion.
Doesn't mean he is a little jerk.
Just your opinion.
Some people will agree Some won't.
PS .You can call me John not Alexei

If true its a massive scandal not being covered by the media

I got COVID pretty bad last year and have had some ongoing issues, like having trouble remembering words and stuff. So I went to the doc a few weeks ago and had some blood test and it came back that I had a B12 and Zinc deficiency. The doc reckoned that it had been shown in many studies that Zinc is important both in helping to avoid catching COVID ( and other viruses) as well as limiting the impact it has on you, so reckons that my low zinc was a likely cause of the severity. I had never heard anything about zinc previously so thought you old bastards might want to go get yours checked or to start taking a supplement so you will still be round to see our maiden premiership under Webby.

I haven't heard about Zinc for covid. Good to know. I take it a lot along with magnesium. The two of them are good for sleep.

There was something else that kicked it along early in 2020. But also to prepare for Covid. I really improved my health, lost some weight and watched what I ate. I went nuts on various vitamins etc.

I'm a bit vague on it as the videos I watched on it were a while ago. A diet that doesn't get much coverage and one I'd like to look into more is the vertical diet. You watch your calorie intake but also watch where you are deficient and up your intake of those vitamins and minerals. It would depend on what you eat as a lot of people are deficient of something.

Hope you are getting better.

Might sound stupid and that was my first thoughts.
I was suffering leg cramps during the night and kept me awake.
A lady from the bowling club suggested I put a cake of soap by or under my pillow and to my surprise it's great
Other people say the same. Apparently you inhale the magnesium.
If you don't believe me Google it

Thus was something conspiracy theorists were saying I had zinc and magnesium tablets I was taking daily. Mike Kings son broached this subject in a video about quarantine stays.

What we should all be passed off from this whole occurrence was it was a good chance to get the population healthier promote good earing and excessive. Instead fad food and liquor stores were allied to stay open. They don't give a fark about us.

Wish the government promoted alot more during the covid period and not just a vaccine that may have given an individual some immunity for a period of time.
Another tip is a glass of water before bed and a big glass of water when you wake up.

There should of been a lot more focus on health during the pandemic. Not just our government but worldwide.

They mentioned you can go out to exercise but the focus was mainly staying home. Later lockdowns you could see cabin fever kicking in as more people were getting out and about and going for walks. Some of that may have been due to weight gain due to sitting and watching Netflix too much during previous lockdowns. There was a lot of articles about covid weight.

A YT channel I watch which moved from general fitness to weight loss does mention about getting yourself ready for bed. He also promotes drinking water first thing in the morning as your more than likely dehydrated than hungry. He uses that to fast until lunch time. It is something I may try at some point. My go to breakfast is typically 1/2 a cup of porridge.

I have to take regular Vitamin B injections now as I can’t absorb it. My Vitamin B levels are nonexistent. The doctor asked me if I was a vegetarian! Couldn’t hit him as I forgot what he said 😂
Having low Vitamin B did help me forget most of the results last season so that was a blessing! Now I have to prepare for the 2023 season knowing full well I’ll remember the results 😢

Interesting paper from our MOH, anyone seen it reported here in NZ? I'd heard about the myocarditis but not Acute Kidney Injury.

Ok, my risk is either covid or myocarditis. What are the risks either way? Turn on calculator, press enter, decide. Flush dunny and move on.

University of Sydney scientists make ‘crazy’ Covid-19 discovery

Australian scientists have made an incredible discovery that could change the way we view Covid.

The findings could explain one of the disease’s biggest mysteries — why some people suffer serious illness with the virus, or even death, while others never get sick or appear symptomless.

University of Sydney researchers discovered a protein in the lung that blocks Covid infection and forms a natural protective barrier in the human body.

The naturally occurring protein, LRRC15, works by attaching itself to the virus, stopping Covid particles from binding with more vulnerable cells - as well as reducing the chance of infection.

The research offers a promising pathway to develop new drugs to prevent Covid or deal with fibrosis in the lungs.

The study led by Professor Greg Neely found that this new receptor acts by binding to the virus and sequestering it which reduces infection.

“For me, as an immunologist, the fact that there’s this natural immune receptor that we didn’t know about, that’s lining our lungs and blocks and controls viruses, that’s crazy interesting,” Neely said.”We can now use this new receptor to design broad-acting drugs that can block viral infection or even suppress lung fibrosis.”

How it works

The Covid-19 virus infects humans by using a spike protein to attach to a specific receptor in our cells. It primarily uses a protein called the angiotensin-converting enzyme 2 (ACE2) receptor to enter human cells.

Lung cells have high levels of ACE2 receptors, which is why the Covid-19 virus often causes severe problems in this organ.

Like AEC2, LRRC15 is a receptor for Covid, meaning the virus can bind to it. But unlike ACE2, LRRC15 does not support infection.

It can however stick to the virus and immobilise it.

Researchers believe patients who died from Covid did not produce enough of the protein, or produced it too late to make a difference.

“We think it acts a bit like Velcro, molecular Velcro, in that it sticks to the spike of the virus and then pulls it away from the target cell types,” said another researcher, Dr Lipin Loo.

This seems big. Are we saved?
