It’s everywhere in Sydney at the moment too but pretty much everyone is going about life as normal. Know of 3 people in my direct team that have had it in the last week but seems to be a case of 2-3 days off and back to it

Yeah Wednesday this week. I'm still farked.

Started with body aches, moved to fever, chills, severe headaches really quickly.
Couldn't sleep at all last night.
I'm surprised how gnarly its been - I'm fairly healthy.

Meanwhile my missus has it and its mild. My son has it and no symptoms.
It can be quite interesting seeing how differently it affects people even within the same house hold. We were ready to hunker down and be ill when my son got it and expect the rest of us to be like he was when we first noticed. Being young he was worried. By lunch time he was out side.

Someone at work who is anti the vaccine got it recently. I thought they had it before but that must have been man flu as covid seemed to really knock him about.

I've been getting tired a lot. Might be as I'm not as fit as I was this time last year as with the lockdowns and no traffic I bike riding a lot. But since covid I've been coming home from work worn out. I have feeling when I was young I didn't rest enough after glandular fever as the next year I was constantly worn out. I had some time unemployed before I moved to Auckland and look back now that may have helped get me the rest I needed. Have a suspicion I didn't rest enough with covid as it was basically a day off and work from home.

All the best. Take it easy and get some rest.

What are people's thoughts on the couple whose baby needs a heart operation but won't let it go ahead if the baby receives any blood from someone who has received a COVID vaccination shot? I think it would be easy enough for the non-vaccinated donors blood to be separated from other blood and tested before being used for the operation, I don't like the precedent it would set.

While I think that parents should have the right to decide what medical procedures are undertaken on a child below the age of consent, I feel quite strongly that the Courts should allow this operation to take place with any compatible blood. The reason is, what happens when the next time a parent or parents don't like the blood could be used. Say a white supremacist who says they only want "pure" blood from a fourth-generation European settler? A religious zealot who doesn't want their child to receive "the gay gene"? A Muslim or Jew who is concerned that protein from a pig might enter into their child, a Hindu worried about beef, or a vegan worried that any animal protein might enter their child? Or anyone of dozens more scenarios.

Juju I am in the exact same boat. I got it on Monday night and then my wife and 2 young daughters tested positive on Tuesday.

I’ve had similar symptoms - started with muscle aches, then a gnarly fever that night, then the blocked nose/cold, coughing, and now finally a headache bordering on a migraine. Much heavier than I expected it to be as well considering I am double vaccinated and the fittest I have been in my life.

My wife’s had very light symptoms and my kids just have snotty noses. Problem is more being in iso with each other as the kids are losing the plot 😆. Keeping a 1 and 3yo locked in an 90m2 place for a week while Mum and Dad are sick with very little tolerance is a tough predicament.

It's been a real journey for me. I'd say I'm still only 40% of my usual health...

I really underestimated how discombobulated the virus can make you feel.

My symptoms are bit of nausea and a strong afternoon fatigue. It's not glamorous to say but I also had the worst malaise (depression) I've ever had Monday and Tuesday. Thankfully that's lifted now.

It's so random how different people are affected.

My son's back at school and totally fine, my missus still have a bit of nausea.

I'm hoping the next infection is more mild...

The fatigue and foggy brain is what really surprised me. And how long it has lasted since being ill

Is it even possible to get blood that is vaccine free? I would have thought the childs immediate serious health problem would be the priority. Court should make quick decision to go ahead with surgery.

What I don’t understand that there's some unvaccinated people willing to donate blood for the babies op.
I guess they are the correct blood group so why don't they just use their blood 🤔
Sadly I think the young kid is being used for the parents ideology.
Hopefully it's sorted quickly

allowing people to choose sets a pretty dangerous precedent i suppose.

as someone said earlier, can you demand only pure white blood? samoan blood only? even if you bring your mates to donate it? starts to all get pretty messy.
