Staff Coaching Candidates 2022/23

I'm going to go with......welcome, hope you're the answer - I suspect you're not, but prove me wrong please.

My only red flag is when the article said "he's largely been credited for the Panthers attack"

Article bout Trent Barrett signing with the dogs couple of years back - "Barrett’s influence on Panthers’ attack and Nathan Cleary’s playmaking has been there for all to see in 2020"

Sometimes you just need good players and coaching becomes easy. Does he have the ability to develop good players and are the Autex Alphas going to give him enough time to actually bring them through?

An interesting move from the Warriors. They didn`t just go with a coach that has come from another team, but choose a rookie. He has also been with the Warriors before, so knows the inside workings of the club. Given recent signings, I don`t trust the Warriors management, but this could be a breath of fresh air and might just work.

To be fair I prefer having a young promising person going to the next level and trying to be successful than proven failed head coaches who will probably be like more interested to play game of thrones with CG, Alpha and princess while getting paid for 3 yrs or get cut 1 yr in with a huge payout

Let's give Andrew Webster a chance . Don't expect results instantly. For example the broncos , cowboys and Dragons to a extent were all sides struggling last year with new coach's. They were all under pressure to perform this year. All these coach's needed was time to put in there systems and create a culture around this. The broncos, cowboys and Dragons will be my shinning lights over the next 18 months . Being patient will be key .

If he signs, then it’s all about the support team. Cappy to join as an assistant???? Imagine that…

Great news and well done to Warriors management for acting swiftly. We were the last of the three coach seeking clubs to hit the pavement and the first to find their guy.
Jason Webster is one less candidate for the other two clubs and soon to be three clubs to consider once Titans inevitably fire Holbrook. In the context of three clubs looking at the same time and a 4th one about to start looking we did remarkably well.
My reasons for optimism despite not knowing anything about him is
1) he has lived in NZ before so won't get cold feet like Brown
2) He is not an experienced NRL coach who has proved a failure somewhere else
3) I am pleased as his name is not Madge. pr Green.
4) Although I would have been into it we didn't have to take a desperation punt on the Walker Brothers.

Be happy = agree with the guy about watching puppy videos.

I’m prepared to give them next year to see improvement. We will have a new coach, we do have some quality recruits, we will be playing out of Auckland and we will have our junior and reserve grades back up and running. Robinson hasn’t had the luxury to really get the club established like this under his ownership.
Without Robinson cash they may not be a club. The return to NZ will change things for the better in all facets of the club.

Ok, so it’s not Madge or Green. Not another rehashed failure of a coach where we’re all forced to make up excuses for why they failed in the past and why they’ll likely succeed here.

It’s a young, fearless coach with energy and ideas, who’s had an impressive record of success with junior teams and has been inside a champion club and knows what a winning culture looks like.

Plus, he’s lived in Auckland before and knows what to expect.

Good. 😊
Good god you talk with some sense. What are you doing in this forum?!

I wonder if Cleary warned him if he goes it could ruin his coaching career?

In all honesty good luck to him! I hope he's strong enough to make it happen but this is like climbing Mt Everest naked with no oxygen tanks.

Cameron George and Mohawk better throw all the support behind this guy. Would be interesting to know the terms of this contract, does it have a family homesick get out clause, with an option for a further years payout?
depends on what you call ruining a career.

SK is currently an assistant at the Storm

Ivan is currently coaching the best team in the comp.

Payten most likely will get coach of the year

The others were chumps and would always fail.

We've had to make big calls on coaches before. I remember Matthew Ridge saying no one at the Warriors had heard of Daniel Anderson when his application turned up. Ridge had to call Bob Fulton to find out who he was. That's how desperate we were then

I'm ok with our new coach. He has been in the game for a while. He knows about living in NZ and also what the travel demands are. He's also seen success and failure at clubs.

What does concern me is the way this has gone down, because I'm starting to see a pattern. Last time we were in turmoil we had some quick signings to give us new hope for the next season. And the outcome was terrible. This time the signings seem better.

But if in another 18 months we are in turmoil again, I don't want to see a repeat of this as the answer. Because i will know that it wont work. Ideally they need to fix the cause(s) of the turmoil now. But I see nothing that leads me to believe that will happen.
