This is not a charge down. It's turning your back when going to make a tackle so you don't get sconed

It's like the Warriors are the worst team in all of professonal sports, Ice Hockey, Rugby, NFL. MLB. Premier League at defending a lead with 5 minutes to go. How many times have we seen this team be run down by a miracle last minute comeback and the raiders albeit for a missed conversion nearly did it to us last year.
I think the players are traumitised from it happening so often and instead of sitting on the lead and playing conservatively keep taking risks like Roger going for a fast play of the ball because we want one more try to put the game away beyond all shadow of a doubt instead of having faith we can defend an 8 point win.
We need to have the coaching staff address how to nurse a lead into a win in the last 5 minutes of the game.. And this is not the first bad play of the ball penalty I have seen when it really mattered. Bayley Sironen two years ago did one when we were trying to stop a comeback and James Gavet did one when the other team completed a 20 point comeback from seemed like a certain victory. It got the point where we just needed to complete one set to and good kick chase and we win the game and in both cases Sironen and Gavet did bad plays of the ball. They are etched on my mind permanently.

Though we did end up not being able to defend the 8-point lead thus proving Roger was right to play the ball quick, lol, but ya he should have being more calm and we need those last ditch training, maybe join the Black Caps for a mental session lol

Yeah it is literally called a charge down because you raise your hands above your head to bat 'down' the ball.

People saying Barney should have done nothing is crazy...what??? You gonna let the play maker have time to run it and burn your flat footed ass off instead?

I watched the presser and I really hope that was just the initial reaction.
Our Coach said the lesson to be learned is to put in an 80 minute performance and not be down at half time to begin with.
I really hope that Webster thinks about this longer and that the real focus at the team review goes on to how to protect a lead with 5 minutes to go.
Because although he said that was gutting to watch in the presser I have sat through about ten of those last minute come backs over the last 5 years. We need to come up with specific strategies that allow us to protect a lead. No other team in the NRL would have let the Storm come back to win that had they been up by 8 with 5 minutes left. Even the Tigers would have protected that lead.
There are going to be plenty of games this year where we are up by 6 to 8 points with 5 minutes left. I do not want to be and the players do not want to be letting this happen multiple times. We need a solution and strategy to emerge from the post game review.

It was made worse when he jumped, if it's a JMK falcon the ref might have a rush of blood and say it's not played at

I am glad someone mentioned the jump.

When I played, and someone booted it at your head the reflex is to jump and recoil in a spin.

When you run at something and it flies up towards your face, you can't change direction so you leave your feet and recoil your face away from the upwards flying object.

Kids do it instinctively, it is hardwired from the old cave man has crouching tiger fly up out of the grass at his head.
