General Changes against Brisbane.

I'm still stunned that some are suggesting we boot Kemp after two solid but not outstanding first grade matches, two outstanding trial performances, and another trial performance that I haven't seen. He kicked the winning points, and was elusive in broken play.

I've seen at least two people suggest that we replace him with Kirk and have Jones kick the goals. Fair enough. It means a drop from about 90% goal kicking accuracy to about 75%...or lower if goals are taken from the sidelines. To those suggesting that we do this, who do you propose kicks goals for the 30 or so minutes that Jones isn't on the field while he continues to build up his fitness and game time?

I would keep Denan Kemp in the team because hes the best player for his position, not because of his goal kicking. I would still have him in the team even if he didnt goal kick. His goal kicking isnt that great anyway. I believe hes a vital player in our backline, and will be as the season goes further on into the year.

gary, that's a wank and you know it regards Kirk. He had interest from the Roosters to return home. The Warriors stepped in and resigned him. He's safe under the high ball, he's a very good defender, he'll make a load of yards out of dummy half and he runs the ball back, plus he's in the right place at the right time to finish off tries. He may not be Usiah Bolt like in pace, but he's no slouch. He is the Warriors most underrated player. He's not lacking in strike rate either, scoring 7 tries in 15 games playing outside Grant Rovelli and Michael Witt mostly in the halves.

My problem with Kemp is not his general performance, but he looks listless. He made a few comments a while back and not wanting to leave Brisbane, to me he doesn't look to be enjoying his football or to be overly enthusiastic about it. Kirk is extremely good at getting into dummy half and making ten metres when the pressure is on. Kemp at the moment is fairly weak at it. Kemp also has been under the pump under cross field kicks, Kirk was as safe as Mt Everest from being knocked over.

Kemp was the buy I wanted. I'll put my hand up over that. I wanted Kemp at the club. But to be frank I only want guys at the club who want to put their hands on their heart and play for the Warriors, without regret. Kemp has massive talent, far superior to Kirk. The question I still can't find myself answering is, is the Warriors where he really wanted to be in 2009?

Kemp will come right...Getting into talk about him not wanting to really be in Auckland is a no go zone really.

Well said Iafeta. Hopefully he is just shell-shocked about being in such a great team :D

i would say that it wasnt his preferred option. based on what i read whilst in qld, he said that he would return back to broncos. however that could be just trying to keep his current bosses at the time happy at the broncos.

i think he realises that his stocks in value went up quite a bit...AFTER he signed with us. he went on a freakish tryscoring record after that.

that said, he is quite young..and...nz is a different place to what he is used to. im sure he is still adjusting, and fitting in with the polynesian culture, but i have no doubt that he will start proving himself. i dont think that he has done anything wrong really. he has shown good committment on defence with some great hits coming out the line to stop overlaps when he knows he is short. i just feel that he hasnt received quality opportunities to show his talents. in time itll come. no doubts about that.

We dont really know that about Denan Kemp, your only going on his body language here. Anyway besides the point, who cares if he didnt want to leave the Broncoes, hes at the Warriors now for the next 2 years, im sure hes got over that. Hes highly valued at the Warriors, hes part of the team.

I wanted Denan Kemp at the Warriors since the first game i saw him play in first grade, i said it on here too. Im confident he'll come right. I admit he didnt have a great game today, but i know he'll get better.

Kemp has it all over Kirk. In all departments on the wing. Try scoring ability, gaining yards from dummy half - he didnt in this game, but he does make the yards from there, excellent under the high ball under pressure, speed, footwork, defence, ability to be on hand for support when a break is made, and ability to create something out of nothing.

I didnt know that about Kirk being wanted by the Roosters, my mistake. I read in the herald when he was looking for a club he had no offers from anyone.

I think Tate needs to adjust his game now that he has a class winger outside him. He doesn't need to keep running infield. I think, in the long run, having Kemp outside him will improve his own game.

Yes true, agree with everything on here.

I agree that Kemp is better than Kirk, but I think he is also better than most of the wingers in the NRL.

Yeah i thought that too, especially when he cut back in field when he had Denan outside him 25 meters out, i would have back Denan Kemp to have got to the line had he been given the ball by Tate.

He is. Which is why i am suprised by what people have been saying about him on this forum.

I believe hes 4th in line for a wing spot in the Queensland team. Obviously if you have Greg Inglis and Justin Hodges in the centres. You'll have Falou, Tate, Boyd then Kemp 4th on the wing. In a star backline.

With that quote I was more getting at the fact that Kirk is still a solid player, even though he can't get a spot in our team.

I liked Tates line break today. He showed a bit of speed, which was missing alot of last season. Hopefully that is a sign of things to come.

Yeah he would be decent back up if Denan Kemp and Manu Vatuvei were injuried. You can throw in Kirk and AhVan in there.

im loving the intensity that tate is showing this season. he seems so pumped up, and is involved quite a bit. he is a senior at the club and is leading by example, today for example telling ta'ai to take the next hitup after he dropped the ball. one thing about his play i have disliked however is his ability to setup his wingers. he is a 'ball hogg' to a certain extent but im sure time will come when he can trust kemp more. kemp is also very early into his league career, so im sure that him playing outside tate will assist him.

surely solomona would be ahead of patrick...

how are the vulcans going? not much news on these forums about them...

Which Ah Van....cause i think think Thomas Ah Van is better than his brother and Kirk and Solomona

Yeah me too. I think Thomas is better. But i was talking about Patrick. But either one are good enough to be put in there.

I saw this post I was dissapointed, Kemp won us the game with a pressure goal-kick & I feel there are neurotic people on this forum who every time someone has a quiet game, they want them dropped. It's like a lynch mob, 2 games into the season where players are still finding their feet & this mob want them dropped. This after we've won 2 out of 2 & we're currently 2nd after beating the World Champions at their home ground in a very hot & muggy day. The team obviously is in good spirit & I have faith in Ivan & so far the team.

Kemp will not score as many tries as he did last year. Remember he was playing outside guys like Hodges, Lockyer, Wallace and Hunt last year. The way that Bronco backline plays is always to target the outside.

Just look at there 2 games this year, the Broncos have scored 5 of there tries down the wings.
