The Parramatta Eels have released Bureta Faraimo from the remainder of his contract to pursue an opportunity at another NRL club.

Faraimo was released by the Eels before the June 30 deadline and has signed with the New Zealand Warriors for the remainder of 2017.

After playing 15 matches for the blue and gold over the past few years and despite being the leading try scorer in NSW Cup, Faraimo was unable to crack the Eels first-grade team this year.

Faraimo is expected to make his club debut in next Saturday’s Intrust Super Cup clash against St George Illawarra at Mt Smart Stadium.

Wellington-born outside back Bureta Faraimo will join the Vodafone Warriors from the Parramatta Eels this week after being signed as injury cover for the rest of the season.

The 26-year-old, who can play both centre or wing, has starred for Wentworthville in the Intrust Super Premiership this year and leads the competition with 14 tries.

Faraimo made 15 appearances for the Eels in 2015 and, through his American Samoan descent, represented America at the 2013 Rugby League World Cup.

“We’ve signed Bureta on a short-term deal,” Vodafone Warriors recruitment manager Tony Iro said.

“At this stage, he’s planning on heading to the UK next year so he’s only on our books until the end of the season.

“He wanted to come home and we feel he gives us some really good cover in our outside backs if we need it.”

Even if it's only a short term injury cover kind of deal....who is injured from our current outside backs?

Right now our outside back stocks are:

David Fusitua
Solomone Kata
Blake Ayshford
Ken Maumalo
Charnze Nicoll-Klokstad
Manu Vatuvei
Junior Pauga

Manu Vatuvei is walking injured these days. All you'll need is for one more getting injured and Junior Pauga is suddenly next in line should anyone else go down. Anyone who has seen the kid play knows he is seriously underdone particularly in defence. Things get even worse for our outside backs and players like Semisi Fotu and Paulos Latu are looking at a shot.

I'll give you all a minute to Google them...

Zac Santo would surely be above them? When is Matt Allwood back or is he done for the year?

Seriously WTF signed till the end of season as cover? Our season is shot, it's relying on teams like the Cowboys and the Dragons dropping their bundle and dropping out of the 8, it's relying on us winning a minimum 5 of 8, it's relying on teams like the Panthers, Raiders, even the Bunnies and Doggies sucking just enough not to be better than us. I say give the youngsters a go if injuries become an issue.
What's the point of reserve and under 20s teams if the only way you can cover short term injuries is by signing short term replacements?

The interesting thing about the signing is that Iro said "at this stage he's heading to the UK."

I'm thinking he's got an offer from a second tier ESL side, but if he works his ass off here a potential 2018 extension could trump that.

Maybe we are having a look at how he goes before offering him a contract,
plus as SK says we need some back up , We are just lucky Charnze Nicoll-Klokstad has played well
its not good to rely on rookies , They can go either way ,
personally I think There will be a lot of movement in the market near the end
of the season,

He might find another gear and become awesome? Or he might go to super league? Best to have more options rather than less...

It is a low risk signing for the club. At least he might be hungrey for some success.

However, like Santo it is unlikely he will see first grade action given that Manu, Allwood are waiting in the wings.

From what I was told he's heading to one of the Hull clubs. The one Laurie Daly plays for...
