General Back The Boys!

Aman

Aman

I remember listening to the Simon Mannering with Fonzie and the boys and remember him saying how much off field stuff affects your on field performance. That if something isn't right in the administration whether it be the coaches, the HR, the managers or the owners that any incident will find its way onto the field at some stage. Can you imagine playing under this current administration? I'm surprised we've been competitive at all tbh after what's come out in the last few days.

Claims of racism by owner
widespread sackings including an entire HR department
cover ups and NDAs with payouts that cripple our cap
Reports of player mutiny against coach and vote of no confidence in playing style
Players leaving mid season and not committing to the future but also being explicitly vocal about it
3 different playing locations, training camps and player hubs
No home games
limited access to wider family
Recruitment of some fairly nefarious characters in the playing group
A coach with no real credentials or pedigree
Assistant coaches and staff with no real credentials or pedigree

And this is only the stuff we know of. There's so much that's going to come out in the next couple of weeks.

My point is that I'm kind of proud of the team in a weird way. Look at the way Lodge played his guts out even with all this shit going on, would have been so easy to call it in. Tevanga looks like he's lost all the joy but non of the competitiveness. Egan seems to have matured as player and leader along with Curran and Montoya. As a group we've been competitive in every game except a couple. We look like a group who wants to win but doesn't know how to or is so badly impacted by poor management its showing up in performance at crucial times.

Is there any way to back the boys but not the Hierarchy? Any way we can show love for the team but ask questions of the administration? How can we show the group that we support them but not the management?

I have real concerns for the club in general
I am very good mates with an ex team mate who has connections with both the club and the sponsors.
When I questioned him about the problem today he said he didn't want to comment 🙄

Just really hope the boys start winning games again. Just been very depressing news over the last two weeks.

doesnt matter how ugly the win is, just win. Get our finals hopes alive again. Lose to the knights and the snowball effect will continue to sweep through our club

I'm 100 percent committed to this club no matter what. All teams go through good and bad times. Look at what happened with the Storm. They were accused of all sorts of things, and even lost a championship, but they rebuilt.

The Bulldogs are rebuilding, they will back to their best some day soon. Other clubs have gone through this, and so will we.

I'm not focused on the Owner or the C.E.O. but I am focused on the team. My team. I will continue to hope that we win week in and week out. I will continue to get frustrated with the loses but I will never walk away, only someone not strong enough walks away from this crap.

Let's GONE Warriors.

Agree with you 💯 mate.
However I am getting on a bit now and would love to see a GF win before I go to the big pub in the sky 😀

Yeah Im. All in been that way since the round 1 Broncos draw.

End of the day its my Jersey I bleed for it. Their style I happen to like, they chance their arm and the critics can say too early build pressure blah blah. If those come off we jump out to a lead. We got points in us. Just lacking a few stops here and there to get us the W's.

We just need some 5050s go our way scrap home and winning becomes easy when less people are talking about how shit you are.

Every week all. I ask is they show effort. We escape with some wins. And we all talking a bit happier about life and not so focussed on the admin shit show.

Racism Mad Mick having a go at Ali and Anderson going off all the time
Sacking the HR department --Heyzeuss never heard of that before!!
payouts that cripple the cap - Greg Alexander getting a whole seasons pay
No confidence in the coach - Mat Elliott when they changed the game plan as they walked out o the tunnel
Recruitment of some fairly nefarious characters in the playing group ... major meth dealer as a GOAT
A coach with no real credentials or pedigree Tony Kemp, Bluey
Assistant coaches and staff with no real credentials or pedigree - Apart from Cappy and he Pom we never had anybody decent.
3 different playing locations, training camps and player hubs
No home games
limited access to wider family - Blame covid
Players leaving mid season and not committing to the future but also being explicitly vocal about it - cannot remmber that

My take is any club in the bottom third has a lot of recriminations, my biggest concern is the coaching department and the owner, except that he is just a loose cannon, and not a grifter like Watson or that prick Robson.

We are in the shite, but the fecker still has his family money tied up in the club...I hold some hope.

You actually couldn't make this stuff up I tell you.
The Warriors club is a metaphor for life, in fact if it wasn't for bad luck we would not have any luck at all.
Forget about soap operas just follow the Warriors.
The way the team is going now, how many fans will turn up at Mt Smart?
The owner obviously has every right to interfere with the running of the club, but his track record is starting to look questionable as far as results go, but the odds have been stacked against him.

My wife was watching Shortland St last night and I suggested that she turn that off and invest in the real life soap opera at the Warriors. I started explaining some of what has been happening lately and what has been happening for 3 decades and it really did sound like a badly written soap.
FMD!! What a club!
But apart from one season a few years ago when I took a mental health break from the Warriors I've been watching since the start. I pay my Sky subscription and occasionally a membership and come game day I make sure I'm there watching the TV. Or in the past if I had to be in Auckland I would work it around home games so that I could watch them live.
It has almost become like religion for me. Watching the Warriors is part of my life. Shit. How sad am I?
I may not own the club but it's my club. And always will be

Yeah mate I know exactly what you mean. I have promised myself not to come home early from the pub this afternoon as I have lost all interest in my team.
Unfortunately I bet that either I have a change of heart or at least stick my head into the other bar to see whats happening.
I know that I am a sad fuckin tragic person 😔

Mate you are not alone. Feels like you have just lost your right arm doesn't it. I've been a league fan since I was a kid & when the Warriors got the gig it was like Xmas in our house.
We left Auckland some 20 years ago but still turned up to every home game until 2016.
Gutted that we are being shown up in a dirty light & I'm sure there are many Warrior fans feeling the same way.
The concern now is that V'landys stated some time back in some interview - don't ask me where or when because I can't recall - that he wanted to have all teams based in Aust as it was "National Rugby League" and this debacle could give him just the excuse he needs to get us out of the comp - but if that day comes or until that day comes I don't give a toss about management I'm backing your team - my team - our team. Wins would be nice.
A note to Alpha Robinson.
Ever heard this phrase you pratt "there is no I in team " Overworked but true

Enjoy the game everyone. Every one of us will be watching eh John Nick Cheers!!

This club continues to sabotage itself over and over and us supporters impatient tendencies don’t help either. There wasn’t a person I knew that thought Stephen Kearney was a decent coach, even after a year in 2018 that saw us win for the first time in Perth, win our first 6 matches of the season and finally make a top 8 appearance though brief. That team kept together, I feel was a premiership contender in 2020 with players sticking around for success that are no longer at the club. The culture is starkly different to what he was trying to bring with an All Black/storm good person good player mantra and circumstances for the lack of success in 2019 weren’t offered to him. 2 people continue to be joined to the drama every time, Shaun Johnson who cost that window and Kearney his job and are hearing rumours of him creating dissent against Brown when he also started the coach doesn’t like me rumour against Kearney when he walked away and Cameron George who didn’t need to try act like the alpha when trumpeting to the media, but I must say that watching Shaun Johnson now makes me wonder if he was ever the player to take us to success with how easily he crumbles under pressure as he did when we lost to the Panthers in our last top 8 appearance. What I’ve heard from the owner this week has rocked me after I was so disappointed with his public comments when dismissing Kearney but I backed his plan when he brought in such minds as Gould, and to be fair circumstances haven’t helped but performance is stagnant at best but am I being impatient as I commented on? I just have worries that if the rot starts at the top, how can the rest repair but was encouraged by Lodge’s side of the story and his comments regarding Robinson and actually found it genuine but just like George, management costs a re signing by opening his mouth and making a fool of the guy in front of teammates. Though from some rumours it might not be the worst thing that Lodge decided to go, we’ll never know unless the next club he goes to sees the same issues arise. Sorry to go on and I’ll always support this club and I love it but I’ve lost a lot of confidence in the clubs management and coaches and aren’t expecting success any time soon. Hope I’m wrong, I usually are.

This week doesn't fall on the younger/less experienced players in the group. Yes, those of us who really follow players' development through NSW/QLD etc might be right when you say "So-and-so isn't NRL standard", but how much of that isn't "Yes, Brownie, you picked a player that'll never be NRL standard, ya idiot!", but is rather than they've been picked too soon/too often at this point in their careers due to COVID injuries, etc? I'm not saying everyone will come good, just that I think the "He Sucks, Dump Him For Good!" button gets pressed by us fans too often and too enthusiastically.

I do to a certain extent subscribe to Paul Kent's argument that some teams used being away from their families due to COVIDto make them tighter as a group, why haven't the Warriors? That's down to management and senior players to build a "Us against The World!", "We Can Do This Whatever Shit We Have To Deal With!" mentality.

Of course, I'll be supporting boys this afternoon as usual, I'm not a shouter, usually a mutterer if we're going shit, quietly encouraging when we're doing well. Still only 1 (One) TV Remote and 1 (One) Season Ticket have felt my great vengeance and furious anger because of the Warriors. The TV Remote just ended up with a loose top which was refixed rather than being rendered permanently unusable while the Season Ticket got sellotaped together so I could use it at the Mt Smart game the following Saturday. So, to put my great vengeance and furious anger in "Once Were Warriors" terms, if I'm Jake Heke, I just tapped the guy using the Jukebox at the pub's nose twice with my middle finger.

I assume we don't have the same ref who allowed that 26man pile up last week? Gawd, that was pathetic. Still think that cost us a restart...

Netflix have announced a "Behind the scenes" documentary about the NRL team the New Zealand Warriors, that, like "Sunderland 'Til I Die", will follow the players, the coaches and a select group of fans as they all go through the 2023 National Rugby League Season.

The working title of this documentary is "Warriors 'Cos I'm Too Fxxxing Stupid To Follow A Decent Team".

Are We All Systems Gone, Folks!?
