Awen Guttenbeil

Awen Guttenbeil 2001 vs Storm

Is it just me or has Guttenbeil found a new lease of life coming off the bench this year.

What I cannot understand is why the Warriors have not signed him?

He has been at the club for 10 years which means next year part of his salary will not be included in the Cap. I hope the Warriors management don't leave it to late and resigns him.

We all know out our cap issues so this would help to ease it.

from what I have been reading it will be him or lauaki that stays with the other one going.

Yeah Ive read something very similar. I think Lauaki will go on the market as Awen will be offered another year.

Sad as weve never really seen Lauaki reach his full potential.

awen is coming off the bench to give leadership when pricy & wiki are having a rest. we need to sign him as nrl pay $100000 of his deal because he is a 10 year nrl player .

i would like to see lauaki go to the gold coast titans. training under billy johnstone would do him great.

good call.....i hope the titans have you as part of their recruitment team

I`d like to see Awen stay right where he is... with the Warriors. He`s played very well all season long and there aren`t many who can carry 2-3 tacklers on his back the way he does and still move the ball forward time after time.

lol dido

Actually, Lauaki under a seriously renowned trainer would do him the world of good.

If that's true, Lauaki v Gutts, I'd take Awen any day of the week. Week in, week out, he's near our best. He's be in the top 5 of all our games over the past year or so, he'd be a starter for my next Kiwis team.

Hopeguttenbiel stays aye. I reckon we will sign him up this week.... hopefully

Awen's been faithful and loyal to the club and done the hard yards so I think the Warriors should return the favour and get pen to paper on a new deal for him.

Agreed every time our teams had a blinder, gutt's has been right in the middle. I don't know whats happened to gutt's but hes a changed player. Two years would be prefreble as price will be gone in 2008.

If it comes down to keeping one or the other who would you rather we offer a contract to ? Awen or Epalahame ?

Definitely Guttenbeil... was the most underrated Warriors player for the first half of the season but is finally being noticed. Solid as a rock and gives 100% all the time.

Yeah, Gutts, has been playing well of late and I think he has more to offer so I would say him.

Probably Awen due to his leadership capabilities.

Agreed, he has had an awesome season as of late.

The problem with signing Awen is that it will only be for one year, if Hame leaves then we could have lost a talent forever.

I would like to see Hame drop a few kilos like Manu did.

Imagine Hame spending a full season with someone like Billy Johnstone, identifying and getting him to his correct playing size. Hame with stamina and a bit lighter on his feet could be anything really. I think he needs a change of scenery to achieve his potential.

Ideally, I'd like to see both of them signed. Epalahame was in good form early in the season before his injury.

However, if it comes down to one or the other, (and I suspect that it will), I'd pick Guttenbeil by a country mile. He is experienced, is a leader, is in sizzling form, and, unlike Lauaki...he isn't injured.
