Ta'ia made the squad? He's barely cracked first grade and they have named him the squad. Browns been in good form for over a year now misses out. Perhapes Mark Geyer is right and we wont get within 30 of the aussies.

Zeb Taia was awesome for the knights in 2009. got injured early this year i think. but he can cause alot of damage

I rate Lewis Brown. but since the Bulldogs game he has been rubbish and playing like a poofter up for cleo bachelor of the year

NU was talking about Ukuma Ta'ai. ;)

Also, not sure why people are lamenting Matai not being selected when he has...?

I do appreciate your honest appraisals of players, i don't agree with you on some but thats life.

How many first choice players are we missing, incidentally? So many injuries...
Manu Vatuvei
Simon Mannering
Fui Fui Moi Moi
Frank Pritchard
Jeremy Smith
Roy Asotasi
Dene Halatau

Who else is unavailable for selection out of the NRL based players?

I reckon you can throw Iosia Soliola and Greg Eastwood into the mix too.

Not according to international rules.

Sure, but I think my point was missed. The only players who were considered for selection are NRL players, hence listing UK based players that weren't selected doesn't reflect how weak or strong our actual squad is out of the players considered.

we have the best spine ever in luke, marshall, foran, hohaia

still a few weird selection but that seems to be kearneys style! hopefully it works for us.

how did jeff lima and shaun kenny-dowall not make the team?

Lima hasn't been in the best form... And I guess they are going with Sau since he played so well last time around.

Kenny-Dowell is playing well but he's suss under pressure, there's no-where to hide in a test match.

Sika Manu is not ready for a test match at this stage of his comeback, 60mins of NSW cup game against the Vulcans first game back since July, now he finds himself in a test match against Australia. I like Sika Manu, hes a good player, but no way is he ready, Kearney could have picked - Lewis Brown, Steve Rapira, Jason Tamou, or if hes eligble Ukuma Taai. Anyway good luck to him, hope im proven wrong.

Okay...Prediction time:

A: If the Kiwis are not at worst trailing by 6 at HT, doesn't matter how many oranges they have, how many stacks they can mill (or is it mills they can stack?), I won't be putting the house on us winning from 6+ down. I will of course still be cheering and hoping for it...
B: Further to that, we need to score first and second too. Get them under pressure of a 6+ deficit. Don't feel confident winning a try-for-try contest, so obviously we've got to step any momentum any way we can (not advocating headhighs, spears, etc that punish us as well).
C: Hohaia to shine. I think he's the most experienced Kiwi picked so although he's not C or VC he needs to step up. He or Marshall to take the kicks?
C: At least one good punch up. Mr Gallen to be the instigator..
D: Kiwis 24-20 or Kangaroos 20-16.

hope the kiwi's can win just have to step up like they did in the world cup final. Or last years nz vs oz 4 nations test except play the 80mins infact they should be prepared to play for 81 minutes or more to secure a win!!!

there down as $5.00 dollars to $1.16 for the win win compared with oz, no way are they that bigger underdogs if they need motivation should just look at the word shillington said! in the paper. plus all kiwi's in oz dont need motivation with all the sheep joke and general runing down of nz when we are actually the more advanced county in many ways!

We need a prop on the bench. If you swap Lima for either one of them (except Tamou), that leaves us with 4 backrowers or 3 and Heremaia. I'm not liking either or those options coming up against the Aussies. We need to dominate the middle, and we can't do that without at least one prop on the bench.

One benefit for Sika Manu himself is that we have 12 interchanges at international level.
