Not sure about the Anzac test but he's a must for the extended team during the World Cup...

I don't see a problem with Benji coming off the bench or even playing fullback which both Sheens and Potter have said is a realistic option for him at Tigers.

It may be a realistic option down the track but i'd have a problem with him being chucked raw into an international against australia in a position he hasn't played for about 10 or so years since he came to first grade.

Tbh unless they can also cover hooker I just think having a specialist half on the bench is wasting a spot.

Unless that half is Foran who can cover most the backline and pack, I understand why people believe Foran should be first picked, but IMO that would not be for the greater good of the team.

Kearney spent a lot of time at the Broncos Trial talking to one player , both of them were gesturing with their arms in such a fashion that it would be impossible not to see they were talking specific Tactics for Thomas in the coming Internationals....they were both CLEARLY highly animated and it looked like they were ( from the hand gestures ) talking about a Set play.....

I might be wrong......TL could have been giving Mooks directions to the nearest KFC......but then I am almost never wrong.

He's in Kearneys play book for the campaign.....no matter whats happening in the NRL he's In ....guarantee It.

Regardless of his form for the Warriors, TL has never let us down at the International level. Im certain he'll be in the frame somewhere as well...

interesting who do you guys think is playing better this year benji or shaun johnson if you compare the stats they are almost exactly the same think shaun would have him on 40/20s though, also shaun has more tackle breaks and line breaks.

TVNZ news says that Benji will probably out for 3-4 weeks and will most likely miss the ANZAC test.

It's funny how things change. After the 08 WC I'd have read that news thinking we're doomed. But Benji 2012/13? You'd obviously pick him if you could but not too worried about it.

Kearney impressed with Sonny Bill's return to NRL
Kearney impressed with Sonny Bill's return to NRL

By: Brenton Vannisselroy | Latest Rugby League News | Tuesday April 9 2013 12:08

Kiwis coach Stephen Kearney has expressed surprise at how quickly Sonny Bill Williams has found his feet in his return to the NRL.

Kearney says Williams has been very impressive.

He says he has improved every game since his first match against the Rabbitohs and is now playing close to 80 minutes per game.

Stephen Kearney says Williams' name will certainly be mentioned when the selectors sit down to name the Kiwis squad for next week's ANZAC league test.

The Kiwis are awaiting the result of scans on Benji Marshall's toe, after he was sighted with a moon boot after the Wests Tigers' NRL loss to the Melbourne Storm.

It show's the state of his Coaching that he is surprised by SBW's form. He obviously has difficulty identifying talent, I'll go on and say he is absolutely miserable at it, how the fuck he is a Coach.
This guy couldn't identify a giant raging pimple on the end of his nose..

Oh well, a Johnson/Foran combo it is then.

1. Hoffman (he's the incumbent, played well last test, and tbh Locke has been pretty inconsistant this season).
2. Perret/Tuivasa Sheck
3. Kenny Dowell
4. Whare
5. Nightingale
6. Foran
7. Johnson
8. Waerea Hargreaves
9. Luke
10. Matulino
11. Williams
12. Mannering
13. Smith

14. Glenn
15. Bromich
16. Eastwood
17. Pritchard

I think you're pretty close with this side. I expect to see Leuluai on the bench, probably for Eastwood as he had an injury last round and not sure how he's travelling. Pritchard is somewhat wasted at prop - but could be asked to fill in there. Kearney plays favourites, so wouldn't be surprised to see McKendry in the mix somewhere as well.

Side-note - I was talking to a mate at the weekend and we were thinking how good a forward pack we'd have if Tamou and Papalii had agreed to play for NZ... four man propping rotation of Tamou, Bromwich, JWH, Matulino, with SBW, Glenn, Smith and Papalii filling the back row spots and bench (sorry Mannering - no space for you in that forward pack)...

Well since Shaun Johnson is gonna be halfback and TL either starting or interchange hooker I would go with Locke at the back because of existing combos. Likewise I would put Roger Tuivasa-Sheck on the wing to play on the right with sbw and skd.
So new team,
Locke
Roger Tuivasa-Sheck
Skd
Glenn
Nightingale
Foran
Shaun Johnson

Bromwich
Luke
Mckendry
Mannering
Sbw
Smith

Jwh
Matulino
Eastwood
