Ta'ai should in no way be a part of that 17 once we have either of the Rapira brothers back. He's the re-incarnation of Hame Lauaki. 2 errors + 2 penalties in what, 30 mins of game time? And his defence in the line is actually some of the worst I've ever seen. If I was an opposition coach I'd be imploring his selection every week.

I used to really like him but think he has just not added much at all this season. Most of the season he has played very few minutes which means he hasn't been given a decent chance to prove himself. With brown playing hooker tonight he was on the field more and while he did have one nice carry gave away two stupid penalties and a silly dropped ball

Kuma out ASAP. Bring in an under done Steve Rapira! I am sick of Ukumas brain fails, poor handling and ill discipline

Akuma offers nothing to this team IMO. I've been waiting for him to show us the goods yet his games gone backwards. Any player (besides the beast-) where you say "don't drop it" is a liability.
I also think lousi offers little. I'm gutted we're losing brown, why can't he do a back flip & the warriors give him lucks money?

P.S Akuma is far to sloppy for my liking

The Roosters baited him, he fell hook line and sinker. Absolutey brang the Roosters back into the game single handedly. We were leading 30-20 with momentuem, just after having a try denied. So we were on top, hard, had possesion. Yet Ta'ai lets himself get baited, lost possesion due to the penalty. Then made another mistake. 30-26. That's just unacceptable.

Exactly! Masoe does that well, pisses off the boys, then laughs in their face. Its for a reaction and Ta'ai gave him exactly that. He needs to pull his head in and not let them get to him so much.

I actually like Ta'ai's defence; I think he makes some good reads and puts in solid shots. I really liked him in earlier seasons, playing wider. I think he's much more dangerous in a bit of space, one on one - he's not suited to the front row, he might have the odd good run but his game was never really about trucking your way up through the middle of the pack. So yeah, he's been a meh for me. I simply don't think he's all that effective in his current role.

I've never been a fan of Ta'ai

I haven't citicised Bluey this Season because Like Ivan ( who I'm not a fan of) I give the coach two seasons before imagining i know more than them lol.

For mine he is the same Ukuma that people rated highly , minus maybe three or four effective charges down filed and two big hits....which kept most Ukuma fans content....and allowed them to overlook the Ill discipline and butter fingers that go with it.

Steve Rapira offers everything Ta'ai ever had without the kinks for mine.

However , I agree with those who say Ta'ai this year has given away less penalties and dropped less balls , and i think Bluey is the reason.

So one could hope that the more reliable / lower impact Ta'ai may....under Bluey.....eventually round out his Game.

To be fair....The Roosters Pack Dominated ours tonight and if you didn't notice that look Of A maniac Ta'ai had on the exercise Bike before he hit the field then you probably weren't gritting your teeth on the couch like me,,,,worrying he was going to ' feed into the hype / adrenalin and produce a wild animal to his game'.

Its a Moot point in a way until a fully fit Steve Rapira is an option.

Hes lost that aggression. Still hits it up ok but that nasty is gone. May be he was asked to clam down a bit and as a result hes lost what made him . . . him. Bit like Wade being told to shut up.

Haha. So true. And i think thats exactly what's happened. On both accounts, future and present.

I think the reason is he has not been playing as many minutes. I don't have the stats for his minutes last year, but over the first 9 rounds he only played an average of 25 minutes a game. If someone is to only come on for 25 mins I want them to make one heck on an impact. m

How did the refs watch the replay of that incident and not see Masoes short uppercut to Taái's face? Penalty should've been to us and Taái did well not to smack Masoe's block off. Warriors got the last laugh, Masoe is a tool, reminds me of a young Willie Mason.

I think he is a total waste of space and a bench spot.

I strongly disapprove of the 4 forward bench for the reasons highlighted last night, no injury cover. I think it is utterly ridiculous to have 5 props in your team. If your props aren't able to play 40 minutes each then they need some stamina training. Adding another prop to the bench isn't going to help. At one stage last night, even before Ropo's injury Bluey had 3 props on the field. That is madness. We lose so much ability, intelligence and agility when you ditch a scond rower for a prop. We had both Mara and Mateo sitting down while Ukuma made ineffective runs.

His hands have never been good and he is too easily manipulated by opponents. All it takes is a little word in his ear in a tackle and he will throw away possession with an emotional brain explosion. Then he needs to redeem himself, which he usually does with a reckless tackle, a swinging arm or a high shot. We can't afford that anymore. Granted he is doing it less than last year, but if he can't control it he should be working on it in the Vulcans while some back cover takes his seat on the bench.

Lousi, for mine, has done extremely well this year, though his form has been down over the past couple of games. Last year I felt he was exactly the same as Ukuma with his ball security and his emotions, but he has removed most of that this year. He is still only injury cover for our props and when Rapira gets back, I think we should lose both Ukuma and Sione from the squad.

I really wish we would stop falling into the same trap every time we play the Roosters where it becomes about who can put on the biggest hit. We get so hung up on that, that we miss the fact the Roosters are running all over us. Let Wairea-Hargreaves and Mase Masoe try to dominate, and simply play our own game and we will dominate them on the scoreboard. It was good to see Matulino avoid the hype of trying to out-hit Hargreaves last night. JWH is a coward, anyway. He only ever went at Ben as second or third tackler and had no intention of squaring off against him.

I reckon that if Ukuma had played the ball before hitting out, he would have gotten away with it. He never should have walked off the mark to affect his own justice. Let the game continue, then hit out.

Yeah, he got caught up in the niggle, went into the tackle and came out with his face bleeding and took matters into his own hands.

That would've been a perfect time for Mannering to approach the ref, kill some time and ensure that they are aware of what's going on. He seems to only have something to say when the decisions already been made. Thankfully for us, Anasta is the worst captain in the NRL, just a bleater that the refs can't stand.

I think Braithe is more respected by the refs than Mannering. If he had come at the ref ranting about setting bad presidents, he would have been sitting down in a heartbeat, because the refs show him no respect at all. This is caused by the fact, as you say, that he only approaches the refs after a decision has been made. Anasta took a huge risk approaching the ref as he did, but it could have put doubt in their mind about how to treat the call had he not been quite so aggressive.

Taai is absolute rubbish, he has offered nothing this season apart from creating stupid errors and giving away penalties. He doesnt create go forward and is just a total liability that we could do without. Total chump imo.........

I don't know if it's respect or simply some players get away with more because of who they are. Just think Joey Johns and JT 2 guys that have gotten away with major disrespect at different times.
